I hear you, it's been over 30 for me! A school friend of mine brought back Kill em All from his California summer break, in 84. I haven't been the same since. It's funny, because I followed most of the same bands Lars and James did... Before Metallica
was 18 when this came out and everyone was bugging me because I was still a huge fan of theirs, while everyone called them a sellout. This song as well as Bleeding Me were so well done
Cameron Brown I couldn’t agree with you more! The Outlaw Torn might not be a Thrash Metal Song but it definitely has balls! Absolutely terrific song!🤘🏻
Man people have been crying that "they sold out" since Cliff was still alive smh. People swear every time a band wants to do something different and change their style even a little, that they sold out. It's stupid lol
Connor Jones I totally agree with you! Metallica wanted to do more bluesier sounding songs when they wrote Load and Reload. Those two albums have a bunch of really great underrated songs on them. The people who hated those albums seem to forget that Metallica released Garage Inc after Reload, bringing back there more Thrashier sound. Then albums like Death Magnetic And Hardwired To Self Destruct where also a return to form. In the end you either like Metallica or you don’t, it’s that simple. For me personally I enjoyed all of there albums for different reasons and the people who keeping clamoring about how they sold-out just need to get over it because it’s extremely tiring hearing this debate for over 25 years now.

this is my favorite song of this album.. I guess every one has a personal meaning. When he says I search the outside and search inside, and the more he search the more he need, bless and bleed.. the way he describes the feeling is so sad and hard.. he needs revenge for something but love at the same time. It makes me think about God and a woman also.. humans are really complicated. Is a damn good master piece
I don't care what anyone says, I started listening to Metallica in 1984 and though my heart will ALWAYS go to the older, harder stuff, I fucking love this album and this song........Dude Kirk's solo in this song ALWAYS, makes my hair on my arms stand up.... Yep, did it again....
I like how these 3 albums end with songs about when you're on the edge of something and are either supposed to either keep hurting and thinking about it, accept it and move on or just lose your mind completely, destroying everything around you.
Yeah, Metallica kicks Ass, as always nobody can come close too how great this Band is, they threw away the Molds after this Band, Hetfield Kicks Are, His emotions in the songs speaks for itself, so Strong his strength, as only James can Sing. The Band is the Greatest of all Metal as far as I'm concerned, I've been Listening to these guys, since the early 80s, and they just keep on churning out Hits, Keep up the Great Music my friends.
This song at 5:30 comes as close as anything to my experience of coming to during spinal surgery grogily and out of it to become suddenly aware of my spine wide open and no morphine drip turned on... The pain was so intense it made sound! It took them 2 10 shots of demural and 3 10 shots of morphine before I stopped screaming. I consciously went insane during that snafoo.
A lot of Metallica songs are like that, though. In "One" they only say the word once. Fade to Black, Welcome Home (Sanitarium), Enter Sandman, and more all have titles that are never sung. I find it kinda interesting.
20 years later this still resonates. Try as you might to be a good father, husband and member of the community, putting on the suit and tie, hiding the tatts and the past, there is still that little bit of darkness in your soul you can't escape. That feeling there is just something missing. That you're supposed to find something. And is this "good girl" by my side really who I'm supposed to spend my life with while I'm haunted by the ones who got away. To colour inside the lines or not
Metallica is the best! And I'm a Twin. This song means so much to us. Ad our lives diverge. We still rely on each other to maintain a moral compass. Metallica forever!
