yess definitely love this video and would like to see more cause im starting dental school and watching this was definitely helpful and I wanna see a update your vibe is amazing girl!!
Girl I’m glad you said this job is your now and not your forever because Ive started dental school for dental assistant but ik my heart desires going to cosmetology school. But I do say having a career in dental is better than working at a job that’s fast food or a warehouse job or something lol
OMG yes Im about to be 21 sooon & I’m working at Amazon AKAK a warehouse heavy labor job in my opinion (I’m 5’2 & 111lb on a good day) And I’ve been trying to look for another ‘mean while’ job to do as I go to college & after DA jib hunting I learned that they get paid the same wage or a couple quarters more 😭 f THAT i rather do that.. than try and move sht like if I was a male. If you know, you know 😚😟 anyway we gonna make this work regardless
literally going thru the same thing i already got hours for cosmetology cause i took it in highschool for 3yrs but i don’t plan on doing it for too much longer as a career
I start dental assistant school in 2 weeks! I’ll be 23 when I’m completed. I watch this video to look more into the job and to see what type of setting i would want to work in. Thank you for sharing your experience 😌❤️🦋
The moment you gloved up at 5:28 was truly impressive! Your precision and skill shine through in every detail. Thank you for providing this insightful glimpse into the life of a dental assistant.
you're soooo pretty! and your nails are suuuuper cute! I'm thinking about doing dental assisting as well, but I also def wanna keep my nails. are there any rules about nails in your experience?
Yes it’s the same for every other healthcare profession no long nails they harvest a lot of bacteria and germs and your gonna be working in peoples mouths so think about it dentist are very particular with who they hire if you come in with long nails and focused on your appearance and looking cute your out they don’t want you in their office and dental assistaning is super hands on you have to be able to work your suctions and use your hand pieces high speed and low speed you gotta be able to put little bitty burs in those handpieces you gotta be able to properly hold forceps and every other instrument taking X-rays you have to be able to get your rinn properly positioned in the patient’s mouth to get the best shots and they don’t want long nails in their mouth you have to be able to do impressions with alginate pour up with stone trim a lot and you def don’t wanna have long nails while trying to make a temporary you have to really have good grips and get super detailed and your gonna have to use one of your hand pieces
I just got hired as a dental assistant under general straight out of clinicals. And I think I want to try specialty but idk which one😭. Perio seems cool though
I just graduated as a dental assistant and passed the RHS exam and have everything to be an ortho assistant. I have an interview tomorrow for an ortho assistant position is there anything that can help me prepare and not be so nervous?
hey how did you get your start as a orthodontist assistant ? It’s something i’m interested in, but currently at my high school they only offer general dental assisting.
No matter what you have to do general first no matter what if you go to an ortho office they’ll ask how long you’ve been in general everyone starts in general when you go to a dental assistant program they touch on all specialty and you can try to do your externship at a ortho office but you have to have the basics of dentistry first and that’s general dentistry
Yes they do doctors especially dentist do not want assistants with long nails you have to work in patients mouths so long nails arnt ideal even with gloves on and your working with a lot of different instruments and things that require you to have a good grip good steady hand skills
my phase 1 wires (pts who are in partial treatment) Are heat activates only which means they bend Best with heat applied directly to it. It’s really cool actually. But that’s why there is a lighter in my unit and every other ortho techs unit some appliances require direct heat to bend
hi i’m a senior in highschool and i want to be an orthodontist/ortho assistant. would you recommend going to a 4 year college then dental school for this career?❤
Hi same here, just giving advice don’t have to take it from me! However i’m going to dental school to save extra money and it would be closer from home!
Girl dental assistant programs are only 10-12 weeks but you can’t just jump straight into ortho you have to start in general dentistry and get all the basics
It’s people who didn’t go to school at all they learned on the job I got offered a job at 19 however I didn’t realize that it was an awesome opportunity look for an inexpensive program in your state that will cover your education I don’t recommend the year program find the program that is shorter because you literally are the same you just learn a lot more with the longer program
Should I like do a update ?

Switching from general to ortho soon 😊
Ive been doing pediatric for 2 years & i switched over to general a month ago. My fav is doing chairside💕
I’m an endodontist assistant and it’s been the easiest one so far for me I think. Lol I want to do ortho one day

Baby come on over to ortho side !
Hey ,
I would recommend anything but Endo. There isn’t to much creativity in that specialty. In my opinion. Good luck ❣️
Where are your scrubs ? And you really should have gloves on touching those burs especially if they’re going in a patients mouth
Exactly..
I just graduated as a dental assistant and passed the RHS exam and have everything to be an ortho assistant. I have an interview tomorrow for an ortho assistant position is there anything that can help me prepare and not be so nervous?
How long were you a dental assistant before you did the certification? Can you do the exam right after you graduate school with no experience yet?
Update?
I think you're a good dental assistant. So you didn't graduate from a dental assistant program?
I work at an orthodontist too but as a records/sterile tech and I’m in tranining to become a COA. Love your content girl !
And I love it, orthotics is fun. I started in general and didn’t like it. Been in ortho for a year

I was wondering if you find it difficult to work with your nails? Do they get in the way?
Yes they do doctors especially dentist do not want assistants with long nails you have to work in patients mouths so long nails arnt ideal even with gloves on and your working with a lot of different instruments and things that require you to have a good grip good steady hand skills
You are gorgeous 😮❤
How do you transition to ortho
5:12 anybody else questioning why she had a lighter
my phase 1 wires (pts who are in partial treatment)
Are heat activates only which means they bend Best with heat applied directly to it. It’s really cool actually. But that’s why there is a lighter in my unit and every other ortho techs unit
some appliances require direct heat to bend
Is it more pay with ortho than general dentistry
What does starting pay look like?
hi i’m a senior in highschool and i want to be an orthodontist/ortho assistant. would you recommend going to a 4 year college then dental school for this career?❤
Hi same here, just giving advice don’t have to take it from me! However i’m going to dental school to save extra money and it would be closer from home!
As far as being an assistant you don’t need to go to college you can find an office that trains on the job.
Girl dental assistant programs are only 10-12 weeks but you can’t just jump straight into ortho you have to start in general dentistry and get all the basics
I do recommend a program tho not everyone has time to teach you from scratch like that
It’s people who didn’t go to school at all they learned on the job I got offered a job at 19 however I didn’t realize that it was an awesome opportunity look for an inexpensive program in your state that will cover your education I don’t recommend the year program find the program that is shorter because you literally are the same you just learn a lot more with the longer program
I hate they don’t have dental hygienist in Ortho 😢
it would honestly prevent so much
I’m a new healthcare content creator and would love if you have my page a looking eye. I love your channel ❤
So sweet !! Welcome welcome happy 2024 !
