- A playthrough of Sega's 1997 arcade-port rail-shooter for PCs running Windows 95, Virtua Cop 2.
Played through arcade mode on the normal difficulty level. I didn't play all of the possible paths in this one, but if you'd like to see anything that this playthrough doesn't hit, check out my original upload for this game: : • Virtua Squad 2 (1997) ...
The full CD soundtrack is here intact, since I was playing with the original CD and not an internet "rip" with all the redbook tracks missing.
For as amazing of a game as Virtua Cop was, VC2 improved on it in just about every way, and the 1995 sequel somehow stretched the hardware even further to produce what was one of the most impressive titles of its day. The PC port doesn't veer too far from it.
If you (somehow) haven't played a Virtua Cop game before, it's basically Lethal Enforcers using real-time 3D graphics instead of digitized sprites. Or like House of the Dead, but with fewer houses and dead things.
The graphics are all pretty close and very smooth, but like most of the 3D PC ports Sega released in the late 90s, no PC at the time would have been capable of running it like it is running here. I have the video options maxxed for this recording: it is playing on the software renderer at 640x480x32 with shading turned on and frameskipping turned off. If you want to see how it ran on a PC back then, check out my original upload linked above. That was recorded on a P200 MMX (which hadn't been released quite yet when this game came out) and barely holds the smooth framerate at 400x300x16. The PC ports of Virtua Fighter 2 and Panzer Dragoon were about the same in terms of performance, for the sake of comparison.
Anyway, this game is golden. It's absurdly difficult (seriously, you won't finish it in five credits without being seriously fast, even after you've committed enemy locations to memory), but then that's to be expected given it was an arcade game, and this port is extremely faithful to it. It's stupid, mindless fun that you just can't help but smile at as you play. I hope you all enjoy it!

OMG! The nostalgia.....
I remember each and ever sound effect to this day and i remember that i was never actually able to kill the last boss which really made me sad. So glad i found this.
Virtua Cop 2 was a fantastic port of a fantastic game, and really made you feel like you had a powerhouse PC if you could get it run at all smoothly back in 1997. As much as I love Lethal Enforcers, this owns it. Hard.
This is one of the first video games i have ever played.
i accidentally found this on my father old computer and i fooking love it :)
Oooooow Aaaaww AUUUUGGGHHHH
-those Enemies Hurt noises

Right in the childhood with this one! Time Crisis was cool and all, but I think Virtua Cop 1 and 2 were visually more fun. I have Virtua Cop 1 for my Saturn. It owns!
Oh hey bud.
I use to play it as a kid.
Service revolver, magnum,shotgun
legend says nobody helped him...
in the virtua cop elite edition the bad guy with the grey hat brown jacket and blue trousers is my favorite antagonist character
Thank you for bringing this back
total nostalgia bomb
I miss arcades.... I remember there are these "Cool kids" who would use two of the guns to show off in the Beginner level. :D
hoho, yeah. I remember doing that myself. On House Of The Dead. I was quite the little douchebag back then.
haha I never tried it, but a friend of mine did it when he was drunk from two glass of tequila (yeah I know, we were teens and thus do cringe shit).
I with that in western, people look at arcades the same way that the Japanese look
notice for me about this is if it's old but such a gold game to play
I enjoyed your video :) Keep it up!
+MisterBassBoost Thank you! :)
better get your badges folks cause we are pulling these over. in the nearest tree.
16:28 Sounds a lot like Hangedman when he says "DIE!" in House of the Dead.
Actually yeah it's the exact same sound effect. Applies to flying enemies too or enemies that drop from the ceiling. Good catch!
That re re re re re re reload😂 and those when we shifts guns rifle automatic nostalgic ❤😊

I just realized the cop uses a left hand skyline r32
Yep, i remember why im good at shooting games.. When i was a kid i tried to speedrun this game without knowing what speedrun is, i just want to play it perfectly and fast. 😂
The music is so quiet compared to the sounds.
Nice
Childhood❣
Can it run as good on Windows95 with best hardware OS can handle?
Wish the music worked on virtual drives. But it seems like the disc has to be on cd rom 0, which I can't do with virtual drives.
Cool do you do virtua cop 1?
john craw ua-cam.com/video/xVO4VZb381A/v-deo.html I also did the remastered PS2 version: ua-cam.com/video/eRtqMqJe7Vw/v-deo.html
How do I unlock Freeplay credits?
I think you have to edit the game's config file to enable stuff like that. Just search for cheats. I'm sure you'll find the directions pretty easily
9:08 hahaha ! Where are you to homebox pod Here, comes ?
How to put sound in this game?
It required Actual CD or Mount the ISO by Virtua Disc like Daemon. If you have more than 1 CD drive, make sure the one you using for CD is the First Letter.
Only pro players will kill the innocent man
They need these back at arcades 😢
Did you played this game by Nintendo?
Lightgun support?
Who came here only for nostalgia
Did people care about fps back then?
Yeah, it was always a big deal to get good steady fps. A lot of games from back then had really low framerates which made them suck - Race Drivin' on SNES is a perfect example of that.
20:04: Hey Jacky, do you know where your sister is? :D(hidden fan service in a Virtua Cop game? say it isn't so!!)
+TBrown17 Haha I thought the fountain was a fitting tribute. Too bad they didn't stick in a kickass remix of her music!
I'm just glad that Sega cared enough to give fans hidden surprises/cameos like this during the 90's and early 2000's. It's too bad they chose to stop Virtua Fighter franchise and House of the Dead to continue the trend of giving us bad Sega games like Sonic Boom and OutRun: Coast to Coast. We should be getting remakes or sequals like Panzer Dragon, Golden Axe, Altered Beast, Phantasy Star, or even Shinobi and Shenmue. I miss those days.....days where game companies gave a damn about the fans....:(
Thankfully now not only did we get a HD remake of Shenmue 1 & 2, but SHenmue 3 is coming this year as well. :D
Virtua Fighter was a game series that had a lot of interesting mechanics that Tekken still uses to this day--the 3-button(now 4-button) port setup, 3-d sidestep, 10-string combos(Virtua Fighter 1 introduced this before tekken did), a cast of awesome characters with a genre of fighting tech from across the globe, and most importantly, Tekken was created by former Virtua fighter employers who were fired at the time to rival the Virtua fighter franchise. As for the fastasy-based stuff, Tekken chose to follow its own path while VF decided to try and stay as realistic as possible. Capcom was a giant influence for Tekken to continue being competitive and to keep raising the bar(hence the beam moves you see from certain characters like Kazuya, Jin, Yoshimitsu, and others) and due to this, people seem to love that a lot more. Plus Namco(later Namco/Bandai) created other game franchises to hype Tekken by introducing Tekken characters in other games like Soul Caliber, Street Fighter X Tekken and Naruto: Ultimate Ninja Storm series. While VF did similar (Fighting Vipers, Daytona USA, Shenmue, Fighter Mega-Mix, Dead or Alive series, etc.), not one of those games(except Shenmue and DOA) have made a huge impact on pushing/hyping the series forward.
No need to apologize, man--thing is, I kinda feel like a nerd talking about historia like that. I know what you mean--character designs and gameplay were the reason I used to play the games myself.
