Cutting Arianne was particularly egregious when one considers that the justification for Doran and Trystane's murders was the Sand Snakes and Ellaria wanting a female to rule Dorne. If female leadership was the desired plotline, why exclude Arianne? She was Doran's heir. It makes no sense🤦♀️.
@@ashleyofnaath that was not the plan. The writer's saw how much everyone disliked the dorne plotline so they just tried to wrap it up quickly and rashly. They should have kept Quentin to an extent and definitely Arianne
Also, show Cersei never mentions Sansa and Littlefinger. What, word of her wedding and the BOTB never quite made it to King's Landing? Or maybe she just decided that she didn't care about those two anymore? Riiiight, way to play it cool, Cersei. 🙄
Nah, boltons wanted to keep their claim on the north. I doubt boltons would care if she was accused of murder of the king when they knew the lannisters were on their way down after tywins death.
@@hypello9534 Fuad Tarin It's not that the Boltons didn't care about betraying the Lannisters, it's that Cersei would *definitely* have cared about the Boltons *betraying* her. Clearly the Boltons had their own motivations and were obviously willing to go "Tywin's dead, Jaime is essentially lame, so Cersei can go suck it", but it's certainly not in Cersei's character to just let those that were supposed to be working for her betray her, and marry their bastard-born heir to the AWOL girl who is accused of murdering Cersei's son. Nnnup.
Madeline Sartori cercei wanted tho do something about it as it was mentioned in the show. But it fell off while she was improssend by the faith. In the books she wants to murder jon snow but it also falls of cause she is in jail. I agree with some points, but this one i dont agree on. In the books tywin gives fake arya to the boltons as a reward for betraying rob, but tywins plan is one day to weaken the boltons claim to the north by revealing its not arya stark. But the bolton knows it not arya stark. Roose is not stupid.
Unpopular opinion: Tywin|Arya scenes are extremely OOC even for show!Tywin (why would he ever believe Arya is a commoner?) and the only thing that makes them look so good is actors' talent.
@@AlexOfTheRhoynar it was good but Aryas time in Harrenhal in the books was much better. I like my favorite characters to suffer because it means more when they triumph.
@@chriscueva1866 Yeah, Arya's chapters in ACOK were much better than the streamlined, compressed scenes of the show. Though I don't blame them for cutting stuff, since they needed to keep the season around ~10 hours. Still, book!Arya's story in Harrenhal is so good. One of my favorite chapters of ACOK is when she prays under the Weirwood and gets Jaqen to help free the Northmen.

Me: Euron is a rapist, a psycopath, owner of slaves, destroyer of the Reach who actyally gives you goosebumps aven reading about him. Nonono, the one in the show is better (sarcasm).
I really wish they included the twist of Tyrion's wife actually NOT being a whore. This is what causes Tyrion to mentally decline in the books and gives him more of a reason to hate Jaime and Tywin.
@@ddfstar7588 Nope, Jaime just frees Tyrion from his cell and there isn't any big reveal. Look at GrayArea's "Demon Monkey" video for more of an in-depth look at the whole situation. I don't agree with everything in the video, but she makes a lot of good points.
@@jaimelannister1797 I don't think so. We are only able to go on what Tyrion remembers and he said that they wanted to live on their own away from Tywin. I don't think this would've included a continuous stream of money from Casterly Rock.
@@TheHysteriaMan I was going off of what Jaime tells Tyrion after rescuing him. He admits that Tysha wasn't a whore, but that she may as well have been because she only wanted his money
I think what they meant was to appeal to a general audience. if it had been too fantasy-oriented it would not have been as successful in my opinion. But with the birth of the dragons and return of the White Walkers, it was like the rise of the return of magic so to speak so they could have added more magic as the show progressed. Because at this point the audience had been eased in into the fantasy element and were ready to accept it. But they did the opposite, they did less and less as it advanced and it didn't make any sense. Even those who are not big on fantasy wished the Night King and the WW would have been better explored in the last season.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 so why didn't they say "We want to appeal to as wide an audience as possible," rather than singling out "mothers and football players?" It's the implication of bias against the two groups they mentioned that's problematic, not the rate at which they introduced fantastical elements in the show. Do not dismiss who they specifically single out here; it really demonstrates an inherent sexism that they think that fantasy doesn't appeal to "mothers." I won't speak to the use of "footballers" as I assume they meant in the American sense and I'm European so we have a very different cultural and social context (and game) for them. But generally stating that people who are interested in or play sports wouldn't be attracted to a show with fantasy elements highlights their prejudices and stereotyping. They said that at the end of the run without a hint of awareness for the audience they'd amassed. Shame.
@@gingerg85 shame? sexist? you are a stupid person. they meant people who are not generally into fantasy and the first thing that popped into their mind was that mothers and football players. which is fine. my mother wouldn't be caught dead watching fantasy movies. I understood very well what they meant. they didn't say "all mothers and football players don't watch fantasy" Christ Your take is not even a good one.
I absolutely hate with a burning passion what the show did with Jaime. They rendered his "independence from Cersei and becoming a better person" arc absolutely pointless with the whole "I am full of hate just like her" and "I never really cared about the people" shit from S8
@@maestercraig3990 I'm no newbie to tragic, or as you like to call it "Grimdark" stories, heck I love them. Why do you think I started reading/watching ASOIAF over any other fantasy schlock out there? And maybe you're right and that was what the writers were going for. But I still think that they could have executed Jaime's 180 back to Cersei a little better, without making his feel arc feel like it just went back to square one. At least his book counterpart will have the advantage of letting us know his thought process if he ends up on the same path of going back to Cersei. (if the last two books ever come out lol).
Worst: killing off characters who are still alive in the books like Barristan, Pip, Gren, Maynce, etc. Best: Tywin and Arya instead of Roose or the fight between Brienne and the Hound
There wasn't anything wrong with the deaths of Pip & Gren. Somebody had to die in that battle. Those were secondary that didn't mean that much to the larger plot.
I actually like Roose and Arya because it gives more depth to Roose. But then again the way the show took the north plot line didn't really include the politics from the books, so I guess it was good to have more screen time for the masterful Tywin
Removing fAaegon was the worst decision D&D made because it forced several other changes like neutering Varys and making him into a hero, and stagnating Tirion's story arc.
Varys is evil and extremely smart, and a lot of people who only watched the show might not understand that. Tyrion is also hell-bent on revenge and cares nothing about his family anymore. I think recent readers (GoT fans) are in for a serious shock.
The worst part is how it destroyed Cersei and Dany. The show expected us to believe that Cersei with no allies, no dragons, and no popular support had a fighting chance against Dany. The whole war they had in season 7 was forced and nonsensical. In the books, Cersei will be annihilated by Young Griff, and Dany will fight a competent ruler with a strong army and massive popular support.
Worse change for me was Arya's magic being cut. My girl can warg across a salt water ocean and a continent to reach Nymeria. She can also skin-change other animals as well as have full control of her body while doing so. So much more could've been done there. And fckn Dorne, sigh. Oberyn, Doran, and Areo were great casts. And then they fckd up. Smh.
Arya's my favorite character. She can also tell when most people are lying and mimics a person right down to their personality. Her story is really tragic but she is the ultimate badass physically. Just losing herself with so many false personas, but her constants are Jon and Nymeria.
Worst change? Deemphasizing the importance of the “Act II” factions- the Tyrells, Greyjoys, Martells, and Stannis. Best change? The expanded character given to Robert/Cersei and early seasons Littlefinger.
Favorite: Ned telling Yoren that Arya was on the Baelor statue, which saved her life. I thought it was beautiful to give that to Ned in his last moments. Thinking of others as opposed to himself while facing imminent death is consistent with everything we know of Ned, so the change made sense. Unlike the others D&D would institute. Least Favorite: The entire portrayal of Dorne. Doran Martell was portrayed as a total incompetent with no plan for House Martell. No Arianne/queen maker plot, no Darkstar (who I think is Oberyn's secret son), no Quentyn, no Sarella/Alleras, no epic scene from Areo Hotah foiling Arianne's plot, no addressing if Daenerys actually lived there for a portion of her life, no addressing Prince Lewyn's paramour, not even getting across that Dorne is more than just the Water Gardens...Was Qyburn working for Oberyn/Dorne the whole time because the Bloody Mummers were actually Oberyn's sellsword company? We'll never know because the Bloody Mummers were cut from the show. Dorne was easily the most impotent plot of the entire story😠.
@@AeIyx Like the other comment said, I'd advise you to research it on other forums or videos because it's too convoluted to explain in a comment section. But, I will say this...In AFFC, it's indirectly established that Qyburn is working for Dorne. To placate House Martell, Cersei has Qyburn prepare the Mountain's head to send to Prince Doran. After she initially gives the order, the two discuss it again and Qyburn specifically says something about preparing a skull (as opposed to a head). Now Cersei hears him, but walks away from the discussion still thinking Dorne is being sent Gregor's head. Fast forward to the feast at Sunspear where it's presented to House Martell. It turns out, Qyburn did indeed send a skull, not a head. What's interesting is that it's noted that the dessert of the evening are sugar-spun skulls w/jelly filling. Ask yourself, how would the cooks know to make skulls and not heads? A head is what was expected, after all. The only person who knew that House Martell was getting a skull and not a head was Qyburn. So for the cooks to have known to prepare skulls means someone in House Martell (Doran) was tipped off about what they were getting. Qyburn is the only person who could've done it because he's the one who took the liberty to prepare a skull, not a head.
Worst changes books vs show for me at least,is Daenerys from season 2 and forward. Not only did they change the entire quarth plotline, they also changed Daenerys personality. In the books she has a great mind for battle strategy, she is also bending over backwards to be diplomatic. She doesnt go around screaming that she is going to burn cities to the ground, nor does she feed anyone to her dragons. In the show, battle strategis where planned by her male advicers. The show also portrays her as someone needing to be reigned in by her advicers, when in the books it's the other way around. The other changes i hated in the show was the whitewashing of Tyrion, Varys,Jorah and to some extent Jon Snow. What they did with Barristan Selmy was bad,the same with stannis.
Exactly, it was Dany advisers who were militaristic, Dany had to hold them back, but the show had it the other way around. Dany didn't threaten the leaders of Quarte with fire and blood, that scene was a complete invention from the show, Dany didn't feed people to her dragons, again that was on the show only. And don't get me started on Dany as a miliary strategist, she single handedly planned the Invasion of meereen by herself, but the show wanted to give that accomplishments to the men around her. Tyrion and Jon telling Dany to not invade kingslanding on the show, like WTF is going on here. Tyrion hated the people of kingslanding, he threatened to poison them all. Book Tyrion is a complete nutcase in ADWD and Jon was whitewashed into saint Jon the 3rd. I hope D&D and their family's live long and miserable lives.
I don't like how the made some characters, especially Tyrion all good. I like that he's dark and evil after all the shit he's been through. Like: Shae's betrayal, Jaime's confesion, killing Tywin,...
"In the books she has a great mind for battle strategy, she is also bending over backwards to be diplomatic." I think part of the great tragedy from the books is that Dany has almost (I think Astapor is kind of an exception) always been trying the diplomatic option first. With Viserys, with Qarth (both the Warlocks and the city's rulers), with Yunkai, and with Meereen, and she almost always has something bad happen (or at least gets few good results) when she tries the peaceful route, but has great success when she uses violence. That's why she resigns herself to "Fire and Blood" in her last chapter in ADWD, which will likely be a problem for her when she arrives in Westeros and mistrusts diplomacy.
When you cut to the image of Jon holding baby Ghost, I thought you where going to talk about how in the books Theon makes some snarky comment about Ghost and Jon snarks right back at him, but in the show Theon makes some snarky comment about Ghost and Jon just stares at him blankly like a wet sack of shit. I think that goes to show that TV show Jon was watered down from the start.
Best: Davos' reading lessons by Shireen (yesss - I am an elderly lady and shed sweet tears about that, so what?!) - Worst: omg, where to start? ALL the character arcs (Tyrion, Arya, Sansa, Jamie, Kate becoming Lady Stoneheart...... where to stop?!) Thank you for that beautiful rant, it made clear for me, how much the wounds caused by D&D's stupidity still hurt!
D&D love sansa and Sophie turner, they wanted to make sansa more sympathetic, but in the end it backfired because we know that was Jane poole arc from the books.

I also remember him being angry with Sansa's development in the show...
I don't think robbing Varys off his edge was good. Like Tyrion and Davos and Baelish these are characters that were so horribly written in later seasons. They didn't know what to do with them. If anything Varys was too nice.
Johnny Skinwalker ah gotcha. I feel like Varys being different in the show made for a more interesting dynamic between him and other characters (especially Littlefinger) in the first few seasons. It all went to hell in the end unfortunately.
@@houselorebridge this I agree with in that it created a ying and yang scenario with him and Baelish being two sides of the same coin where one is the good manipulator and one the bad manipulator. From what the show gave us I imagined for a time that it would have been a nice Game of Throne final Baelish vs Varys for all the marbles at the end. Logically only someone like Varys should be able to take down LF and find all his secrets. And to see intelligence vs intelligence at work would have been nice to see. To see Baelish being defeated but in a worthwhile manner where Varys would counter move him at every turns.
There are many changes from the books that bother me, but I am only going to mention here two. The connection that the Stark kids have with their wolves. In the books they were basically another part of them. Connected souls. When Lady was killed her soul joined with her Stark, Sansa would dream about her long after. As if Lady was visiting her. Bran warged Summer and saved Jon. The other change, my biggest annoyance, was to the character of Daenerys. In the show they made her weak, dependent and over emotional. They also got rid of many instances and scenes that showed how badass and independent she was so they could start paving the way for her going mental. I am not too disappointed with the changes they did to Tyrion, until the last seasons where he became an idiot. In the books he was so selfish and awful. A total user of people. I actually liked him in the show, for awhile.
I was super upset at their treatment of the Damphair. They also called the Greyjoy throne the “Driftwood Throne” rather than the Sea Stone Chair. I guess they couldn’t tell the difference between Pike and Fair Isle.
I was equally annoyed at the show giving Theon a traditional Targaryen funeral, as opposed to an Ironborn funeral. We've seen what those look like in the show so what's the excuse? I thought that would've been a nice resolution for the character but what do lowly fans know...
@@greatgodpan5001 yep. There was no logic to this, since they stopped caring about the cannon they themselves established previously. I mean, the same episode Gendry calls himself a Rivers. A fucking Rivers. Since when was he born in the Riverlands? As a Crownlands bastard, he should have been a Waters, or as a bastard to the former king, a Stone, which is stretching it. If they could fuck up such a major detail, then funeral rites are fucking nothing.
I think Daenerys changes from her dragon dreams and the exclusion of the effect her brother's death, and her second rewrite of the second books. Also if dragon glass and valyrian steel can kill the white walkers but not dragon fire? Which was forged by dragon fire......And all the prophecy that were just abandoned. The was such a letdown.
My favorite change was the conversion between Tyrion and Oberyn. Oberyn telling the story of how they met for the first time made more of an impact in the show imo.

@@leoferwer1813 the same can be said of the book version.... why didnt Arya send Jaqen to kill Tywin before he marched for the fords to battle the Tullys.
@@manvirshergill1739 yes, but not. In the series she was tywin's cupbearer (in the books was roose's). She knew tywin was there (in the books maybe not) she had access to kill him herself or she could help jaqen to do it. That always bothered me, because despite the great scenes and dialogue both of them had, the situation was a bit illogical. Just a bit, because we can assume she was afraid to kill tywin, she was just a child after all, but that was not explored well. In the books she acted illogically too, because she refused to reveal herself to roose, an ally. But she acted like that because he scared the hell out of her.
@@DoubleO88 u misunderstood, I know that Arya is a kid....i was explaining to Leo ferwer because he said why didnt Arya have tywin killed in the show and then I said the same can be said of the book version, Arya loved having the power to have someone killed with a whisper that she didnt think about which kills would benefit her family.
I can see the rationale behind some changes like Talisa replacing Jeyne Westerling because I think for non-book readers, it's easier to understand recklessly breaking a sworn oath for love as opposed to shielding the honor of a girl he barely knew over his own, which is what book Rob stupidly did. I think the Talisa line actually makes Rob more sympathetic despite wildly conflicting with the tragic flaw of his book character. I also get why they watered down the darkness of characters like Tyrion and Catelyn and even Cersei to an extent -- it would've been extremely difficult to develop them as not purely villains on screen without more complex internal dialogue from the books. I agree with everything else though, the wolves being reduced to pound puppies instead of magical extensions of the Stark kids, the entirety of Dorne, Ros replacing Chataya and Alayayah, dumbed down Euron/Iron Islands, Quaithe as a pointless cameo and the beyond priceless Lady Sansa being literally given away to the Boltons for NOTHING...ugh. My pressure is going up, so Imma stop here. Great videos though, I've followed your channel for years and hope to see more.
The worst changes were the omitting of the Tysha confession and the entirety of the Dorne storyline, especially the way they butchered the Sand Snakes and Elaria Sand.
I think they actually hinted at something about rickon being a warg in the first season and maybe even a few others. I only remember the 1st where bran and osha are in the crypts and rickon tells bran about his dream about ned dying
@@tammymartinez7488 haha possibly but wasn't there something about them strangling her in that prophesy? I just thought it was a pretty hilarious understatement to say she was killed by a rock instead of an entire stone building falling on top of her lol
I actually like Lena Heady's take on Cersei. It's more sympathetic and intimidating. In the books she's kind of an idiot and is totally evil and hypocritical and just the worst. It's not all bad to let the actors add a bit to the character. If they're a good actor who gets the tone and themes right. Peter Dinklage's effect on Tyrion was for him to be really really likable all the time. Which I don't think served the story well.
I have been waiting for this!! I need some therapy too. I would like to have a double standard video! Girl what they did to those wolf's was messed up. The one I hate most is how they did See Barristan the Bold. He's a legend and how he died was so beneath him. My second, is how they cut Jamie's betrayal to Tyrion. I wish I could have a conversation with you about this kind of topic because I have similar feelings and beliefs as you. It's been almost a year and I still have problems with Arya killing the night King and she is my favorite character. On a positive note I can't wait for more videos especially the one on how dark Tyrion is. Thanks for this juice!

The fight with Brienne and the Hound being what makes Arya leave him. In the books, she doesn't even know Brienne is out there looking to help her. The show gave the character the decision to say no, I don't care if you want to help me, or you're a big warrior woman (which would surely be a cool curiosity of Arya's if they had met considering Arya's "tomboyishness"). In the books, Arya feels she has no other choice but to run to Braavos and be independent. ALSO the shameful way the show handled Dorne, no Alysanne or Quentin, the Sand Snakes portrayed as too hot headed to be smart.
... ... I hope that was sarcasm. Jon is not short, Robb, Rickon, and Bran were redheads. The lesser ages are vital to them as characters. It's crucial because of the Stark boys only Jon looked like Ned (which was untrue in the show) Jon's resemblence was a key factor in Cat's hatred of Jon.
Dorn has to be my biggest disappointment. That storyline could have easily been a full season and not really change how the rest of the way they wrote the story.
Lady Gray , quite the considerable list here if we try to name them all , by i will try to name a few. Not including fAegon to me i didnt care for , could have added another layer of intrigue , interest and complexity to the show narrative and considering ADwD , where fAegon was introduced , came out just after S1 allowed ample time for the TV series to include him at some point. Looking at that throw away mess rubbish that was S5 , they would have been much better served introducing fAegon than that Dornish mess they gave us that season. Which leads to another book to show change that was dross , the show's handling of Dorne / Dornish plot , taking a well thought out , intricate , integral , complex book plot and just flushing it down the toilet the way the show did , omitting many key characters associated with Dorne in the process. No Stoneheart was another bad choice , GRRM likes his fair share of horror elements so we miss out on good one of that there and just an interesting arc to omit. Would have liked to see the books' version of Coldhands instead combining him and Benjen as the show did. Not emphasizing the other Stark's warging abilities , the how & the lack of gravitas with Barrsitan's death , show's spin on Robb's so called dishonor where in the books he is somewhat taken advantage of by Jeyne after being injured and learning of the supposed death of his younger brothers at the hands of a former ally and friend. I could go on and on there are many more ; and with the last two books we will likely see more and more divergences that will cast and even worse light on the show.
The betrayal of the Starks began before Robb did Jayne. I think it was Robert, In Deep Geek, who made a video about the convenient death of Walder's heir. That was way before Jayne entered the picture.
Yup. Show the Vale plotline and a lot of those who though well of her would change their tune. She lies again and again, when any of the lords, especially Yohn Royce, would have gladly helped her. (disregard show Yohn, who was a combination of Nestor and Yohn)
I wasn't bothered by Talisa. I actually think Robb marrying for honor makes him a little too 2 dimensional. His marrying for love gives him more agency I think. I've said it many times, after season 6 its like a totally different show. None of the characters are the way they should have been. The biggest change I hated the most was the omitting of Quaithe. I'm sure she is meant to do a lot more in the books.
This is such a great vid. Really well put together! George talks so much in interviews about how if a character comes back from the dead it should come with a price, he definitely won't have Jon come back completely the same person. Jon is going to be a little demented when he comes back for sure.
I will forever b hurt by the ending of S.8, miscarriage of justice & defamation of character of Daenerys. Please do show character double standards, PETS,PURSES & PUMPS🤣
Worst thing, just the complete inability to convey the mystical, magical world that mr Martin helps our brains paint so vividly. Best thing, knowing that isnt the end, that wasn't the story. Fun to look at, like dragons above the clouds. That was pretty. But it ain't over. The long night continues...
Worst change: leaving out warging. One of my favorite aspects of the books is the connection between the wargs and their animals (starks and direwolves, Dany and Drogon, sixskins and his group, etc.). Best change: simplifying the Rob and Taleesa/Jeyne story. Robs story was always my least favorite, and for the show it made sense to me to keep it simple since those characters weren't going all the way through to the end. HOWEVER, I could have done without the show stabbing a pregnant woman. 🤷♀️ 😂 Love your videos girl! You keep me laughing with your commentary cause it's always what I'm thinking 😂❤
My favorite asoiaf channel. I love that you use real world common sense to put things together more clearly than they seem from the POV's of the characters
There were a lot of changes that I didn't like, but I understood in light of the complications of adapting the story to the restrictions of TV. The changes that irritate me most are ones that could just as easily happened as it did in the books, not taking more time, not requiring excessive extra detail, etc. My number one - in the show, Jaime doesn't tell Tyrion the truth about Tysha. Without that detail, which had *already been set up,* Tyrion's actions afterward make no sense. The Tysha twist gives Tyrion the justification to make the insane decision to risk capture to get revenge on Tywin. And taking out Tysha also robs the Jaime-Tyrion relationship of depth and complication. I can't think of another totally unnecessary change with such impact on character motivation. I do agree that Talisa-Jayne could have been pulled of in the same amount off time they spent on the invented line. It's the smallness of the Tysha change that makes it so annoying to me.
It is suggest that Tysha was a gold digger in that world of HBO TV. That Jamie and Tywin did pay her to have sex with Tyrion, but when the audience ask David and Dan if this true? they just said we have no idea if Tysha was a hooker or not. They wanted the audience focus on Shae and Tyrion.
This could easily be a 5 hour vid 😂 the show writing was crap after season 4. Worst changes: Changing Cat & Ned's positions on whether Ned should go to Kings Landing, pointless. Giving Jaime dyslexia, pointless. Changing Jeyne to Talisa, pointless. Dorne....... 🤦♂️Euron..... 🤦♂️Sansa in Winterfell 🙄🤦♂️ but the worst crime of all was what they did to The One True King 🤬🤬🤬
RE: The cutting of the fantastical. I get that ASoIaF is a more grounded fantasy setting more focusing on the politics and drama between houses and characters, but to cut the actual fantastical elements because "we didn't want to appeal to -that- sort of fan" is fucking ridiculous, I'm glad I got bored and dropped this a few episodes into season 2, to stick around for that sort of attitude from the show runners is just insulting.
Also interesting that in the show Robb and his people went back to the Twins to get soldiers from Walder Frey to siege Casterly Rock, meanwhile giving up all the territories they conquered before. Funny thing is, it turns out in later seasons that the Freys don't even know how to siege a castle properly. BUT in the books, he gave up the war on the South and wanted to take back the North from the Ironmen starting with Moat Cailin and also wanted to kill Theon for his treason. The show made us think he didn't care about his own people despite being their elected king.
Please yes do a video on book Tyrion. It annoys me how lovable the show tried to make him. Nobody who hasn't read the books knows how absolutely insane he's getting. I would LOVE that. XD
The way I view the HBO TV show A Game of Thrones is as if that show is in a parallel universe to the world George R. R. Martin's books dwell. Does anyone remember Dallas, the primetime TV soap opera with a character called, JR? Remember when one whole season played out with a cliff hanger and the first episode to air the following season revealed that the previous season was all a dream? That is how I view the HBO TV series version of A Game of Thrones.

Yassssssssss!!! Ppl bag on Cersei so much! She’s my favorite character! I relate to her on many levels, AND those areas that I don’t relate to her in, I understand her motivations! But everyone hates her, and glorifies the starks who are problematic AF! INCLUDING Catelynn
Best: Characters that were almost absent from the books but appeared quite often in the show - Olena Tyrell, Rob Stark. Worst: All the abandoned plots - fAegon, Jeyne Poole, Jaqen H'ghar, Dorne.
It felt empty without Victarion Greyjoy. The show had few sea battles, since they omitted the sea portion of the Battle of Blackwater--which was legendary in itself. Tyrion was a beast. The one sea battle that we did have had bootleg-Euron Greyjoy, and the bootleg Sandsnakes. Oh, and bootleg-Asha/Yara, was involved as well, I suppose--but her only functions on the show were to screw with Theon, screw with random slave-prostitute women, and to look as slouchy and unappealing as possible. Where did my feisty, axe-wielding warrior goddess go?
This video was great! IMO leaving out Lady Stonehart was probably the biggest mistake the show made. But overall, it is all the small changes that snowball over the course of the series which end up having the biggest impact.
Please, I beg of you, make those vids about the double standards of the fandom and how Tyrian is a villain. I will drink that juice until the cup is empty!

Yesssss! Please do a video on the double standards. I like how you inserted Dany’s gif in there because the double standard of her executing people prior to season 8 and Jon killing folks is ridiculous.
Book Robb: Finds out about Bran and Rickon, makes the mistake of letting Jeyne comfort him because he has no one else to confide in. Feels obligated to marry her to preserve her and her house's honor. Immediately forgives Catelyn upon hearing she released Jaime because he knows he's fucked up too. Is smart enough to not take Jeyne to the red wedding. Show Robb: Marries a random nurse because he has the hots for her, shows no qualms about destroying an important alliance, scoffs at Catelyn when she tries to advise him against it. Treats her like a bitch when she releases Jaime, even though he fucked up just as badly. Is dumb enough to bring Talisa to the red wedding, parading around the wife he threw the alliance away for. Stands by and let's Walder Frey insult her. Seriously fuck this show man.
Yess!! My problem exactly with Robb is this dumb king who appears to just be lucky. The Catelyn chapter where she confronts Robb about his marriage and he says that he thought of Jon and a child without a father was just so beautiful and it gave the relationship of the stark children so much depth that almost made me cry, it was really really awesome.
Thank you, why has no one mentioned this! In general she is different to her book character. Jon as well being my favourite book character. The man was terribly dumbed down in the show.

The whole Sansa in Winterfell (should be Jeyne and we would see the spear wives in action) and Dorne
Worst change: Cutting the Arianne and young griff storyline.
I think so too
Cutting Arianne was particularly egregious when one considers that the justification for Doran and Trystane's murders was the Sand Snakes and Ellaria wanting a female to rule Dorne. If female leadership was the desired plotline, why exclude Arianne? She was Doran's heir. It makes no sense🤦♀️.
@@ashleyofnaath TV Dorne plotline was dumb
@@ashleyofnaath that was not the plan. The writer's saw how much everyone disliked the dorne plotline so they just tried to wrap it up quickly and rashly. They should have kept Quentin to an extent and definitely Arianne
Pour one out for the boy Arys
Sansa, story line was the worst! Made no sense. Sansa is accused of murdering the King. No way she could move north and married one of his vassals .
Nnnup.
Yep, the bastard-born heir of this vassal, no less!
Worst change imo : Euron greyjoy
Best change : Tywin-Arya storyline in S2.
Must admit, as much as I prefer the books, I did love this change. Fantastic interaction!
Unpopular opinion: Tywin|Arya scenes are extremely OOC even for show!Tywin (why would he ever believe Arya is a commoner?) and the only thing that makes them look so good is actors' talent.

Cannot begin to unpack the problems with removing fantasy elements to appeal to "mothers and football players."
When I first read that I almost threw up!
It really tarnishes the good parts of the show.
Removing fAaegon was the worst decision D&D made because it forced several other changes like neutering Varys and making him into a hero, and stagnating Tirion's story arc.
I thought it was that warlock who neutered Varys?
@@48917032 Neutering a second time then lol
@Ano Nym Careful, Varys might put you in a box and show you off to his dwarf friend for that
Varys is evil and extremely smart, and a lot of people who only watched the show might not understand that.
@@rastiga9196 A girl will not be leaving Nymeria in the woods.
That's George rr Martin's favorite change too.
Woah, is the bloody mummers the company that oberyn made a legit theory? If so can you give me more details?
Patrick the Lion check out Preston Jacobs dornish master plan theory, it’s crazy

I'm still not over what they did to Daenerys
This is so true
I love Danny in the books! I hate Danny in the show!
"In the books she has a great mind for battle strategy, she is also bending over backwards to be diplomatic."
I think part of the great tragedy from the books is that Dany has almost (I think Astapor is kind of an exception) always been trying the diplomatic option first.
I prayed for Alexander Siddig to be cast as Doran Martell. I was so hype when it happened. And then they did that to him.

Worst change: THE ENTIRE DORNE THING and Euron Greyjoy.
Best change: I'm not sure.
I actually liked him in the show, for awhile.
excellent insight that I forgot about.

Listening to this video made it clear to me how being traumatized by the show has affected my memory. I had forgotten so much of ASOIAF.
same, I say its a great time to re-read the whole series again
Girl yes all of this... Dropping Aegon and the whole Dorne plot line, Tyrion's missing journey, just all of this...
I would be really interested, in the video about double standards in the Fandomn. Sounds like a verry good idea.
But this football player likes fantasy. What the hell, D&D?
I’m 👏🏾 here 👏🏾 for 👏🏾 that 👏🏾 double standard video!
Clapping really???? Probably a dany fanboy!
Yes I made a comment on wanting to see that!
"Killed by a rock" hahaha
Maybe the rock that killed her had a older brother!😜
@@tammymartinez7488 haha possibly but wasn't there something about them strangling her in that prophesy? I just thought it was a pretty hilarious understatement to say she was killed by a rock instead of an entire stone building falling on top of her lol
@T C Yo what up T! Haha
I’m really disappointed that they just killed off the Blackfish like they did in the show. That character had so much potential.
Thanks for this juice!
they were probably afraid to screw up with Jaime's redemption(which they did at the end lol)
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 I doubt it, because this happened YEARS ago, it's not something that happened in between his redemption arc (like that awful scene in which it looks like he ra*ed Cersi), it's part of his past, something else he needs redemption for, not something that gets in the way of his redemption
@@tatianasalazar4066 Jaime had already done the grape scene by then, right? They probably thought if we add some more shitty things to him, the fans will turn on him too much.
@@johnnyskinwalker4095 I don't think so, because according to the director and the actors it wasn't a ra*e scene, although it looks terrible. So, in their logic, Jaime didn't do that, it was concensual
@@tatianasalazar4066 Maybe but I bet they still avoided doing the Jaime revelation so that people would not hate Jaime. Why wouldn't they do it, then?
I love the idea of double standard video. It's really infuriating how some houses get to get away with things others don't.
Best change was aging the kids a little bit. The casting was almost perfect.
...
The Sansa-Bolton arc really infuriated me as it just felt like an attempt to push her down our throats, and to make us feel sympathy for her
I felt sympathy for her already.
Yup. Show the Vale plotline and a lot of those who though well of her would change their tune. She lies again and again, when any of the lords, especially Yohn Royce, would have gladly helped her. (disregard show Yohn, who was a combination of Nestor and Yohn)
Oh yes can you pleeeeaaaasssssee do another full video on all of the book changes they did from the books please.
Thanks
I'm still hurt too, still not ready, hilarious, "eased him with her V"
I hate the fact that they cut Aegon! I like the changes they made to Tyrion. Also I love your voice. I could listen to it all day!
I hated how Arya was changed from her first episode onward. All complexity was stripped away from her. She only got worse as she went on.
Yes! Do the Tyrion as a villain video!
Love your videos girl!
Yes please i would love a video about all the double standards of the fandom
My life won't be complete without that double standards video. 😂
100%
Double standard video- yes, please.
Light bringer, Arianne Martell, Darkstar, Old and young Griff, Dragon binder, Jeyne Poole, the Ghost of High heart, Val the Wildling princess, Coldhands, Baby Sam meaning something, and many more things.
Yes please Make a video of the double standards! Cause I’m soooooo tired of Everybody coming for Rhaenyra and Daenerys!
worst changes: tyrion not finding out who tysha really was, and sansa marrying ramsay
best change: twyin and arya at harrenthall
Girl, that was an awesome venting session!!! Lol 😂... I feel ya!
OMG! I thought I was the only one that seen Tyrion as the villain.
✍🏽 I agree I am still mad about the ending and I have not watched GOT again❗️
🗞 📰 One Journey🗺🌎🌍🌏 Let's Make It Count❗️

Best change: margaery interacts with people, podrick interactions
Worsts changes: bronn being Superman, tyrion Arc with tysha and his most evil side, victarion greyjoy, the change of euron, ALL the shit changes of Daenerys Arc ALL of the changes, cuts of the obese mixrace masters, the yellow masters, the meereen problem, that changes on qarth with that xaro xhoan daxos of shit that was Just ughh.... The Daenerys arcs on books are sooooooooo much better, but the iron Islands and dorne is Just dumb changes,
Have soooo many things i hate on the series sooo much.
Daenerys is my queen from this day until my last day.
You know she’s fictional???
@@tammymartinez7488 you know none of us book fans gives a damn about sansa character right??
Don One What does sansa have to do with daenerys
@@ihopemyprofilepicgivesyoun6609 Simple, Tammy Martinez sucks off Sansa character and puts down Dany at every opportunity she gets, shes a pathetic cheerleader for Sansa stark lame character, I hope I made things a bit clearer, Tammy is the toxicity in the fandom.
@@donone352 mega book fan here and I fucking love Sansa 🤷 just because you don't doesn't mean no book fans like her. Everyone has their own preferences.
The assassination of Stannis Baratheon's character
Yesssss! Please do a video on the double standards. I like how you inserted Dany’s gif in there because the double standard of her executing people prior to season 8 and Jon killing folks is ridiculous.
Book Robb:
Finds out about Bran and Rickon, makes the mistake of letting Jeyne comfort him because he has no one else to confide in.
Your video is perfect. Best video I’ve seen explaining the major differences between the show and the books.
My favorite point was about Mance! He was such an interesting, cunning, canniving character in the books!!
Damn girl, keep the videos coming! Your emotions in youre voice are just satisfying to listen to!
They also butchered Dany's Qarth storyline way back in Season 2.
Thank you, why has no one mentioned this! In general she is different to her book character. Jon as well being my favourite book character. The man was terribly dumbed down in the show.
@@WrathDrago imo both Daenerys and Jon are considerably better in the books then the show.
That double standard video sounds interesting!
I can understand them cutting out FAegon, but OMFG Dorne was a shitshow🤦
Euron is literally Voldemort of ASOIAF and the show just turns him into Crabbe/ Goyle.
