Dope concept and I really love seeing origin screen plays. Everything these days are sequels, remakes, or adaptations. Studios don’t want to take risk w/ original works, so anything that is original instantly gets looked at more favorable to me. Dope movie, but I agree that the stereotypical evil was a bit of a detractor. I think in the future bc of GOT and Thanos, we may start to get protagonist who are villains bc they lost in the story. Not bc they’re just plainly evil. They’ll be evil bc history is won by the victors and they lost, but viewers will still be able to see and justify their positions even if they are still flawed.
If they did do that, it would probably go back to medieval times (if the architecture of the church is anything to go by). Most likely it was discovered by knights or the clergy who built the church over the pits to hide them from the world, and somehow the Nazis learned about it.

“Budget Dave Chappelle” is actually the amazing Bokeem Woodbine that has been an actor for a long, long, long time. He has gotten only better with time and it is muscular Dave Chappelle and his rough sounding voice that makes him more like a different version of Bokeem Woodbine.
Apparently Overlord was adapted from a script written by Richard Raaporst ( supposedly. It was an article written about it and a bit strange because it implied the idea of Overlord was basically " stolen" from Frankenstein's Army .)
I thought this would be about the Overlord anime, considering you did a video on attack on titan. Was looking forward to the video all week and then realize now it's not the anime at all. :(
I really liked this film! I liked the premise and Boyce as a protagonist, and the other characters were good as well, it was enjoyable to watch. I think what I appreciated most at the end was how Boyce and the others denied that there was anything going on in the area, because they knew that their own side couldn’t be trusted with that sort of power. I think a sequel where an older Boyce, perhaps with the other surviving members of his squad, go around trying to find and destroy other bunkers such as the one they find in the first film would be interesting.

this movie is underrated and well-done. i will never forget how the movie blindsided me so hard with the realistic (and easily cool) scenes of Hollywood war - and i really thought i was going to watch a cinematically-updated war movie. so, that intense buildup of stress boyce felt as he first stumbled into the german base and discovering fantastical experiments no one could've imagined... i felt that, i really really felt that sense of horror. when we're watching a horror movie, we're scared of the "villains" but it doesn't surprise us that it exists. overlord, though, provided no hints of breaks from realism up until that science lab reveal - it really made me feel the fear i would've felt if i had really seen something so unimaginably horrific in my own reality. boyce did such a good job acting that scene as i hyperventilated along with him as he struggled to maintain his nerves after discovering such a horrible event AND trying to escape the worst place he could've ended up in alone AND trying to bring along an injured friend.
I like how is this alternative reality these paratroopers are from the 101st airborne division heard that before ?? It's the same 101st airborne division that the men of easy company from band of brothers are in quite a nice little touch I think
Didn't J.J Hackbrams bought this script for the cloverfield universe? Thank god that wasn't the case, because the Cloverse ended with the short film MEGAN

"The Cured" was the last of the 3-film trilogy for the "28 Days Later" and "28 Weeks Later" films. I found this 3rd film the best of the three, due to the moral and psychological challenges.
@@abradfordajb I never knew it was involved or a sequel to the 28 days/weeks films
Huh thanks for the background on it I can see how it is now with the fast paste deadly infection and the drama driven story
@@abradfordajb no its not
@@joelcraig-sauer6637 Oh
The actor name iS Bokeem Woodbine !! Not budget David Chappelle
For real /grabs my lotion with lanolin
Lan-o-lin... lanolin.... good
Yeah, what was that?
I was like--wtf? Bokeem been around too long not to get his props.
It's like he hasn't seen Fargo season 2
As a wolfenstein fan, I'm so glad to finally see someone else make this comparison. I've thought that for years, and I'm so glad it was you who made this video. So good, like usual bro.
Amazing movie, watched it with my niece who's just getting into horror and video games and we both loved it
Oh FilmComicsExplained have you ever considered doing a video about the movie Dog Soldiers and the werewolves in the movie?
0:21 Mr. Hyde: It's me on a bad day.
Perfect timing! I just watched 'Overlord' for the first time only last night! [I guess I must have been living under a rock or something, to have missed it before now!] Anyway, loved it! Excellent exploration, as always, FCE.😎
I’ve been waiting for an explanation on this movie from you and now it’s here.
Russell was fantastic. He is definitely someone I look forward to seeing in more stuff.
I wished it was longer or had a sequel but maybe in Japan so they can make it spiritual and a nice amount horror
Watched this at a '4D' cinema. The opening scene with the aircraft was amazing - I was bouncing around in my seat as the flak explonsions surrounded me. Crazy!
i was decently surprised with this movie - it was actually really good!
Saw the jumping into hell clip then came right over here to have you piece it together for me my god this movie doesn't disappoint thank you sir
The movie itself is pretty badass, any chance you'd be able to cover Bioshock lore?
I hope he does-
He’s done 2 videos on the Splicers and the Big Daddies. It would be cool to cover more, though.
Why are you in every comments section I open
Your reviews have come a long way my man, I love it.
Finished! Amazing film and even better presentation!
I love watching your videos. You analyze and explain movies in depth and with passion like no one else.
4:32 Thank you! I knew there was no way I'm the only one that thought that about this guy 😂
This was a suprise at the Cinema, dident expect it to be so good to watch.
With all that said, With this being one of my Favourite movies, I’m surprised they didn’t do a Videogame of this movie.
So what I'm understanding is that I need to see this movie as soon as humanly possible.
The last take with him running out of the building was awesome. Very cool
They can make a prequel about the origins of the black tar.
If they did do that, it would probably go back to medieval times (if the architecture of the church is anything to go by). Most likely it was discovered by knights or the clergy who built the church over the pits to hide them from the world, and somehow the Nazis learned about it.
@@spentlizard353 good Idea!
When I saw the trailer to this movie when it first came out I knew I had to watch it but I never thought Id love this movie for everything it does right.
Can you explain “Iron Sky: The Coming Race”
It would be cool
I'm glad the group picked this. I've been looking forward to a deep dive
"Budget Dave Chapelle?!" Bokeem Woodbine deserves better than that.
I like FilmComicsExplained it just helps me go back rewatching movies I forgot.
Budget Dave Chappelle? Lmao 🤣 I caught that.
This movie is genuinely one of my favorite movies ever. It's so fun in every way, and really, really well made.
An updated video on King Ghidorah from Godzilla King of the Monsters 2019 film and a video about Mechagodzilla (both the Heisei and Millennium versions)
What?
I went into this movie wondering, "Why are there black soldiers in the paratrooper company? Mixed units weren't introduced until Korea." And then the first zombification scene happened and I was like, "Oh! It's THIS KIND of movie! Okay, lemme get the popcorn, this should be fun!"
14:47 is that Matt Smith in the background?
Marc Rissmann
Superb breakdown as always! Thank you for your quality uploads man, they a really something I look forward too!
this was a surprisingly good movie. I mean when I saw it advertise I thought Wolfenstein movie, but didn't mention the game. I thought it'll probably suck. jj producing it doesn't help my opinion. so much for the Cloverfield overlord. but the Wolfenstein games are awesome, except young blood, and I'm a military history buff so of course I watched it. holy shit Batman. it's an awesome movie really really awesome
If only a Resident Evil Film could be made with such heart and passion..
Thank You Julio Avery.. JJ. Abrams..
“Budget Dave Chappelle” is actually the amazing Bokeem Woodbine that has been an actor for a long, long, long time. He has gotten only better with time and it is muscular Dave Chappelle and his rough sounding voice that makes him more like a different version of Bokeem Woodbine.
I don't think our narrator has been exposed to movies like crooklyn or dead presidents. Lol
This movie was awesome. High production value and great acting
If you like overlord you will love Frankenstein's army
Yes, I'm not the only one
So few people have Seen it and that is a shame
I really enjoyed that film. It’s a bit addictive to watch.
Apparently Overlord was adapted from a script written by Richard Raaporst ( supposedly. It was an article written about it and a bit strange because it implied the idea of Overlord was basically " stolen" from Frankenstein's Army .)
I gotta watch this, I saw a commercial forever ago but forgot it. Thanks for reviewing it!
I thought this would be about the Overlord anime, considering you did a video on attack on titan. Was looking forward to the video all week and then realize now it's not the anime at all. :(
True but you discovered a movie you might like
"BUDGET DAVE CHAPPELLE".....IM DYING
I'd LOVE to hear your take on Children of Men, I personally loved the film and would like to hear what you think
I think a sequel where an older Boyce, perhaps with the other surviving members of his squad, go around trying to find and destroy other bunkers such as the one they find in the first film would be interesting.
lol, the good old 'what segregation?' approach when dealing with the WW2 US army.
Yeah, it was desegregated in 1948
I don't think that's the most historically inaccurate thing here lmao why does it piss people off so bad
@@bearsaroundhere because it lets the usa get away with being one of the most institutionally racist states of evil in human history
It's an alternate reality ffs.. I don't even remember zombies being there in our history 🤦♀
@@bigsauce6645 It must be fun living in make believe land. To this day, countries like China still kill people based on race and religion, like how they are killing Uighur Muslims. The US govt. never killed anyone based on race, you might have had individuals lynch black people over racism, but that was illegal and not state sanctioned.
this movie is underrated and well-done. i will never forget how the movie blindsided me so hard with the realistic (and easily cool) scenes of Hollywood war - and i really thought i was going to watch a cinematically-updated war movie. so, that intense buildup of stress boyce felt as he first stumbled into the german base and discovering fantastical experiments no one could've imagined... i felt that, i really really felt that sense of horror. when we're watching a horror movie, we're scared of the "villains" but it doesn't surprise us that it exists. overlord, though, provided no hints of breaks from realism up until that science lab reveal - it really made me feel the fear i would've felt if i had really seen something so unimaginably horrific in my own reality. boyce did such a good job acting that scene as i hyperventilated along with him as he struggled to maintain his nerves after discovering such a horrible event AND trying to escape the worst place he could've ended up in alone AND trying to bring along an injured friend.
I forgot this movie existed till like a month ago watched itloved it
I was blown away! I had zero expectations going in, knew nothing about it and holy shit...it was such a bad ass movie!!
Please, explore The House of the End of Times!
I went into this film not expecting much but I was surprised at how much I enjoyed, it combined sci-fi, horror and typical war drama together really well using the war drama to carry the horror and sci-fi aspects of the film
That is hilarious:
"AKA Budget Dave Chappelle"
Lmao and now I can't find it!!!
I love how heavy and powerful the guns feel. This was not achieved by no other film.
Now the sequel should be a DOOM movie but keep J.J far away from it
Such an awesome freakin' film...and a fantastic protagonist. It really left me wanting more.
I would love if they make a sequel to Overlord just think of the possibilities
This was a very good movie I’ve rewatched it more times than any of the new Star Wars movies
For some reason I really wanted this film to have something to do with "loup garou" since it was in France, but I still love what we got. It's a great horror action, and Nazis get killed. Win, win.
Loup Garou are in Louisiana, not France. It's more accurate to have the Beast of Gevaudan.
We do have Loup garou in France to
