Interesting. Ben Parkes released a video saying he preferred the Vaporfly over the 5k as towards the end of the race it would offer more assistance. £135 for the Streakfly seems a bargain though when compared with the super shoes!
Yeah I did see that. I agree with what he’s saying in terms of giving you more but for me personally I’ve the shorter distance I think I benefited more from the reduced weight and increased turnover
I'm not much into racing longer miles, I'd take the Streakfly for this comparison ⚡ interesting take on the cadence comparison on both shoes there,it just means faster turnover and less ground time 😁 love your content brother keep the wins coming 💪💯
Interesting your cadence varies so much between the two shoes so had a quick look on Strava and yeah can see that. What thought was also interesting is that you only seemed to be 176 in the Pro:Direct event when think you were in the Alphafly but same sort of 10K pace though. So 8 spm lower than the Streakfly for same rough pace. My cadence is pretty much the same in all of them just maybe a fraction lower in the Alphafly.
Yes I found that crazy! I can definitely feel it and was the only main difference in the stats. Unfortunately I didn’t wear a hr monitor for the streakfly 10k so couldn’t compare the two unfortunately. The question is does higher cadence mean faster? Do you have any information on that Tim?
@@BenIsRunning If you can maintain the same stride length then yes - otherwise I think it is what feels most natural. I did a video on the cadence of elite marathoners and I found basically anything goes at elite level. There was guy with a cadence of low 160s than won a marathon in about 2:08 - he looked like was literally bounding down the road. Jim Walmsley also has similar very low cadence. Kipchoge I measured at 186 in his sub 2 however, some international standard men were into the 190s and some women into the 200s. If you just look at say Eilish McColgan then clearly huge stride, relatively low cadence. Mo Farah is kind of similar most of the time but when he sprints he can get that cadence up. So ability to really increase your cadence must help with say sprint finishes and from what have seen from you, other reviews and my own experience is that a very light shoe like the Streakfly is going to help there. Equally kind of feel shoe like the Alphafly helps promotes a more cruisy style with a longer stride and those probably bit lower cadence. Whether you really need a very high cadence just for cruising along is less clear - think can get too high. Indeed, despite being tall my cadence is, well since been measuring it, quite high but then I am getting on a bit now and think have developed more of a shuffle perhaps to compensate for less flexibility. When I could run sub 2/4 800s & 1500s I must surely just have had a longer stride as you can only increase cadence so much.
Great comparison good detail looking into the stats. well done with your channel, certainly deserving all the interest and growth in subscribers, loads of really interesting videos, that and you’re insanely fast 😂
I think biomechanics will play a big part in who the Streakfly works for (when comparing to VF or AF) weaker mechanics will struggle to get the same benefit being in Streakfly vs being in the VF
i agree here. the VF is very accommodating to almost any form. the streakfly preforms best on a midfoot strike and forces higher cadence. its great to work on form with
If anyone @nike had any sense they should be making ben a nike athlete brilliant runner, great content and videos for any kids nowadays your the best type of role model compared to other athletes 😂💪💪
Thanks Richard! Stranger things have happened. To be honest, I’m happy to stay enthral, that way I can bring all sorts of non bias reviews to the channel :)
Surely, if you are using the GPS pace as a comparison, you would be better off using course where there is no signal interuption. Running in central London from expereince (training and racing), the buildings interupt the GPS Signal. SO won't be 100% accurate. The big difference in pace, will be often be due to people racing at same pace around you and type of course
I noticed my cadence was pretty high in Streakfly. I did a test where I ran same 7km course at some power using Rebel V2 and Streakfly. I averaged 5 seconds a KM faster at same power and lower HR in Streakfly.
If you think you can get Vaporfly with discount for the same price or even a little cheaper than Streakfly, there is no doubt which shoe is the absolute winner.
You can’t do a comparison between two and say one is faster if the two runs are different. It’s like racing a all wheel drive car against a rear wheel in the wet and saying the all wheel is faster

The fact that a comparison can even be made is a testament to the shoe. It's £100 less and isnt using any carbon.
Yeah I did see that. I agree with what he’s saying in terms of giving you more but for me personally I’ve the shorter distance I think I benefited more from the reduced weight and increased turnover
@@donalddarko3676 agreed! Was surprised by Nikes price point for once
But then if a carbon plate was the only real difference, you would not see track world records in Dragonfly spikes which does not have one.
It’s not fair Comparison in performance the vaporfly was 2 years old.
Looking forward to episode 100. Congrats on your YT and running growth. Thanks for sharing your progress. Aspire to run and run to inspire.
Thanks Brett! Appreciate your support

Yes I was interested to see such a difference in cadence! Would love to see if others feel this too? Thanks for the support
Just the video I was looking for!! 32mins in a 10k is awesome, I think for price/budget I'll pick up the Streakfly
Very good video Ben, especially liked how you compared your steps per minute. Great attention to detail.
Same thoughts
Great review. They both look like great shoes. Thank you for sharing!!

Great Video, as always Ben
Thank you OMG
those streakflys are such a good looking shoe probably my favorite
Great vid Ben, love the shoe comparisons👍🏼
Thanks James

I love the v1 upper on the vaporfly and didn't like the v2 upper to start with but after a few runs I much prefer it seems more stable for me
Yeah I agree! I couldn’t get as good lockdown over the toe box for me so I’ve stuck to with the v1
Great video Ben!
Thanks tanw 🙌🏻
Great video Ben. Where does the sen 8 fit in to all of this!!
It’s slightly firmer than the streakfly. I’d probably put it somewhere in the middle in terms of ride

The new streakfly colorway might be dropping tomorrow on the Nike app.
In Europe or US?
@@k.s6034 I’m in the US, and the shoe has been added to the site. I can only sign up to get notified (email) when it drops.
I’ll keep an eye out

tell us whats the feeling. Streakfly still enough soft for 10k or better option vaporfly? Fast are both :) i just want protect mine joints
Change in cadence, very interesting.
I thought so :)
Hi! How are the streakfly for a 10km sub 34'?
I don’t think it’s placebo in weight. It’s just where the weight is distributed that creates that feeling
14 seconds is a safe margin for the 10k race in our town lol
My big toe seems to come through all my running trainers and both don’t seem to offer much material around the toes.
great video! thoughts about running a half marathon on the streak fly?
Shouldn’t have any problems! I know people/pros that are even considering using it for the full marathon
@@BenIsRunning They are not competitive compared to carbon plated shoes.
100th like ;)

What about the adidas takumi 8? Is that quick over 10k?
No It’s trash don’t get it
vaporlfy for the cushion

Interesting……. No carbon plate but you reckon they’re fast for the shorter distances 🤔🤔
For me personally yes, not saying that will be the same for everyone though :)
@@BenIsRunning Yeah, I need all the help I can get 🤣🤣 Carbon plate all the way for me!
I really think they should’ve put an air zoom unit somewhere in this shoe since there isn’t a carbon plate
I disagree, I love its simplicity and like how they’ve built on from the original streak heritage
@@BenIsRunning yes simplicity is important but the regular streaks have it 🤔
That's not what the placebo effect is
Fair point, hope you got what I meant about that new shoe feel though :)
