Gotta say, Nicky Hopkins really got Jerry's sound and matched it like few other keys players did ✌
Gotta disagree, he tries way too hard over Jerry's leads...I don't know, but I wouldn't be surprised if that's why he didn't last long. Jerry always sounded best with a good stong keyboard chord player behind him. Imo
@@timothyjones9504 I’m with you. Hopkins is great, but he’s way overplaying here during Jerry’s solos. I think JGB worked better with an organist.

I've got nothing against John, he's been incredibly humble and respectful about his place in the footsteps, how he found the music, and knows Jerry could eat him alive on Guitar.
Hopkins playing with this band was the worst. I saw them. Hopkins was so stoned he could barely play his sycophantic has-been comp. You can get an idea of sideman hell listening to his crap at 3:10. Jerry just shook his head and knuckled down for the show. This was the worst lineup of the JGB ever.
