Nick has taken a car that I would have been embarrassed to take to the junk yard and turned it into something half way decent. That new ceramic coating product looks intriguing.
Yes Sir, You Really don't see those Thunder Birds anymore. One of Kind. Thanks for the Video Tutorial, I liked how you explained the step by step process at a calm tone and very professional that made easy to understand.
Hey Robert! Great question, since is a rotary is direct drive and only spins on one axis, placing it on the surface and then turning it on will create a swirl whereas the DA has a counterweight that dictates the oscillation but won't create a swirl when placed on the surface. Also, by placing the DA down before starting it will save the bearings and prevent product from being flung. - CG Nick
Hey guys - I've been watching your videos to get an idea of how to properly polish out the paint on the '78 Thunderbird in my garage. It was my grandfathers, and at some point in life, all the vertical facing parts of the car (doors, etc) were repainted and clear coated. The horizontal surfaces (roof, hood, trunk) are all single stage paint still and have some swirls and water spots on them and are also going dull. My question is whether I would have to use a different technique with the rotary polisher for the horizontal surfaces than I would for the vertical surfaces.
Hey Jamie! Thanks for your message. The same process would be used for the entire vehicle. Keep the pad flat and moving constantly without applying pressure until the compound/polish used turns clear. - CG Nick
I have watched every single of your videos loved them all I have one questions as an amateur hobbyists Should we use after v34 v38 to wash off any light marring or light haze?
Very therapeutic to watch, I kept wondering about the curves like on 9:25, I see you still used the same pad for that area, is that step applies to a DA polisher? (I own one)
Just wanted to let you know that I love your videos and especially all of your products I use them regularly could you do a video of you cleaning that smart car I have a 2008 and I would really like to see more pictures of that smart car up close

Having problems deciding what I need for a 2018 ram with a few clear coat scratches. I ordered the V4 with the orange and white pad. Would this be too much?
What's up Eric! Good question, applying a ceramic will give you the most protection and it can also be layered with glaze, sealant and wax for more shine and protection but it is still perfectly fine to use a sealant as a standalone layer of protection. - CG Nick
Great video as always. Looking to buy the DA torq10fx as a novice. To do a full car would I be wise to swap orange pad half way through to prevent scratching from polish buildup? Thanks 🙏
Hey there! After a clay bar treatment it is perfectly fine to simply wipe away spent product especially when you are going to be polishing next. - CG Nick
@@ChemicalGuys Even if the paint is well maintained but just has slight surface scratches? Thank you I love Chemical guys products and your videos are awesome
Have you tried using a clay mit? Much larger surface area, cuts the time in half and if you drop it you can wash it off with hot water, rather than replacing it every time.
Yes, use Wipe Out after polishing to ensure the surface is totally clean before applying coatings. www.chemicalguys.com/products/wipe-out-surface-cleanser-spray?_pos=1&_sid=f1697f6dd&_ss=r
Hey! We recommend Pad Cleaner, it uses the natural cleansing power of citrus to wash and rejuvenate all foam, microfiber, and wool polishing pads, ensuring that pads last their longest and perform their best. www.chemicalguys.com/foam-and-wool-polishing-pad-cleaner/foam-wool-pad-cleaner.html
I polished my car with the rotary torq from you guys but I had rotary swirls and plan on re-polishing in the spring... what are tips to get a better finish? I had tried the hexlogix pads, and a rotary. Did decon, clay, and tar removed so I didnt miss any steps, just looking for better tips on polishing. @chemicalguys
You need a rotary with a fine polishing foam pad. Run it at about 1000 rpm with a good finishing polish or specific swirl remover. Getting rid of holograms or swirls is mostly about technique with the polisher, you've got to be deliberate, slow and flat with light pressure. If they are really bad you might need to use a medium foam pad first with slightly more aggressive cleaner wax or one step like malco rejuvinator, then hit it with the swirl remover after.
Hi Debbie! Depending on the size of the vehicle and the amount of correction needed it can take one to three pads for proper correction. This Thunderbird only needed one pad that was cleaned halfway through the job. - CG Nick
Hi Mike! Thanks for your message. It is possible to clay around rock chips but it is best to avoid applying excessive pressure to these sensitive areas. - CG Nick
Chemical Guys i have a 2018 Durango SRT and I noticed that it didn’t correct a lot of swirl marks on the hood (aggressive hood has a lot of indents and hood scoop so it wasn’t always spinning). I should get a rotary shouldn’t I?
If the clay pulls of the junk and you then fold it back together, then the clay is holding onto that junk. Are we not in danger of having those micro debris then marring the surface?
Hi there! Yes, as you clay the bar will collect the extracted contamination and it is necessary to roll and knead the bar until you can no longer find a fresh side, in which case it would need to be replaced. - CG Nick
His voice just makes me want to sleep. Its so relaxing 😌
Hey Joseph! Thanks for watching and for the compliment. Maybe we'll come out with a voice over playlist for sleeping haha.

Currently have the Torq 15 but the Torq R is next on my list for sure, paired with a quality wool pad it will seriously step up my game and efficiency

Can you do a video on water spots/water marks, which have stained, glass and on paint work
Hi Mitchell! Great video suggestion, stay tuned!

That’ll be my next purchase. Daughter’s 04 Expedition is showing signs of oxidation on the bumper, and lower trim on doors.
Nick do you guys prefer using a rotary polisher over a DA for vehicles that require heavier amount of of correction?
Love your products and these videos are great, thanks for you hard work.
Just an educational question...What’s the intent of starting a rotary polisher off the surface, vs a DA on the surface? Thanks!
Hey Robert! Hey CG, I have the Torq 10FX. Once I spread the product on the lowest setting, what setting should I crank it up to to polish?
Hey there! After spreading out the compound/polish use the highest speed setting on the TORQ 10FX to refine the paintwork.

R M just wash it out and spin it on high to dry and your back on the road again

Awesome!
Should make a step by step w the rotary literally show turning it on bumping speed how to control it on body lines
What size orange hex pad should we get to fix onto the rotary polisher?

Hey! Check out the link down below to Pad Conditioner.

Question: Do you add the hydro charge spray first then the hydro charge wax or the other way.

are the pads washable?

Would I not need to follow up with v36 or v38 (finish polish)?
Hey there! Every vehicle is different, some may require multiple polishing steps to restore a mirror like gloss.

Hey Anthony! Clay Luber is ready to use and it doesn't require dilution. Dilution may reduce its lubricity and can cause marring.

wus good I’m confused
Rotary is King

Why does my paint feel rough and dirty after using v36 and v38?
ike R. Left over compound and polish
Yup clay bar again nd add a sealent, you should be good to go
Unintentional asmr

why don't u use wool pads?they stay cooler than foam.

can you clay a car if the paint has been chipped off by rocks?
