A cure for seam peaking?????

- This massive room on the third story presented a little bit of a challenge. All the carpet had to be cut the short way to get into the room. Thus, every seam has natural light and tons of it coming across. All seams are constructed with thermoplastic sealer and premium tape. Some conventional some kool glide. Seam board was also used in construction. Adding additional stretches to the length of the carpet seems to help bring down some of the profiling/peeking! What do you think?
With so many light sources it is damn near impossible to make a seam invisible. You made it look easy. As always, excellent work
Thank you for the compliment! You are correct. Lots of shadowing and excessive amounts of light.
Looks good. That carpet is so tight, if it came off the strip it would roll up like a window blind.
Thank you
I have had good luck with peaking by running a 6 inch iron.
I used to when I started always run a 6 inch iron! I was so scared of problems. I had some issues with tape leaving heat Mark real bad. Stopped using it. Do you recommend a tape for the 6 inch?
Stix S 60.
Seems to be the only tape I have access to.
Not a lot of folks running a6-inch, I guess.
Man i want that attachment that stops the pipes swinging in the middle wonder if I can get one sent to NZ.
Some carpet just shows seams more than others. In my experience softer carpet shows/peaks on the seams. If you ran the carpet vertical with that big window it would definitely hide better. Though, sometimes you can't avoid it. CFI/CRI states seams should be ran vertical to natural light and avoid running horizontal. Also, thermal plastic seam sealer on both edges helps quite a bit
The thermoplastic sealer was a game changer for me once I was taught how to use. Thanks for watching.
6 inch iron john, blue fin iron on about 2 3/4 heat with the xk50 wide, there is nothing better
To add to that don't forget that it's you versus the inspector at all times, if he pulls up and sees the most expensive tape on the market holding it together then what's he gonna say lol, you can tell everyone to f#$% off at that point
Does anyone know what those braces were on his stretcher poles? I have never seen that before.
I was also wondering that. Is that something you made or something you bought?
Orcon use to make. Not sure if they still do I’ve had these for a while.
