I was lucky enough to be there. It was an excellent evening, and beautiful encore. He must have been exhausted. I think the 3rd time I’ve seen Boris in the last 12 months, different programmes, all fantastic. He has recorded the Beethoven cycle with Naxos.
A truly great artist! Probably a wonderful conductor and chamber musician, as well…I hear him singing internally, and acting out the drama at every turn of phrase! ❤️🙏⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️❣️
It reminds me like how Daniel Barenboim has the same program layout as this from concert 1 when he did the 32 Beethoven sonatas in Berlin in 8 concerts years ago, but ngl, Mr. Giltburg is amazing
I had a brief chat with the pianist, he said this is the first time he did Hammerklavier in live concert. Well done him! in the second half of the final movement, he didn't fly through like some others did, he still directly attacked all those almost impossible counterpoints and hence were more exposed to any error... saying that, we hear the structure better compared to some other recording where the "difficult" chore hidden in lots notes.
Not that it matters much, but surprisingly Mr Giltburg seems to have forgotten that he played the Hammerklavier sonata in a concert at the East Neuk festival in Scotland on 29 June this year.

30:43 end of first 😊
33:26 да, играет потрясающе! Чем быстрее, тем лучше… сутулость как у Глена Гульда. Ближе к инструменту)))
7:33 only speaking…😮
The "only speaking" introduction begins at 06:03... 🙂
@@SeaDrive300 but very good sound… and extra useful clever notes!!!🎶

Why sad?
@@kevinm6790 I like also 8, 14, 17 🥹😀😃
@@zvezdinki7998 Keep watching. He’s going to do all of them.
I'm surprised he didn't memorize the music.
Splitting hands at the start of the Hammerklavier - sacrilege.

He plays too fast no.18 even another concert ,too
Barenboim is the epitome. This seems too rushed and somewhat sloppy.
He plays too fast especially sonata
There are 3 sonatas. Which one?
No.18. 1st movement
