I just came back to say thank you on the tip with the dog leash. Worked like a charm on the John Deere D170 spring! Although my spring, the curved portion of the spring was on the pulley portion and the sharp angle was on the mower deck. Now if I can get this darn new belt to be just a bit larger to install as easily as that spring!
You are Very Welcome, glad this video was able to assist/help you some, and yes those belt be tricky sometimes. You may have to turn the blade pulley some when putting on the belt. If you appreciated the video, LIKE and Subscribe, please to help my channel! 🙏🏽
Just had my transmission belt and tensioner pulley spring replace on my John Deere z225. The spring fell off and I couldn't figure out how to get it back on despite multiple tries. The "dog leash" approach worked great! Thanks for the tip!
Great, wasn't my idea but I saw it in another video I believed I mentioned, but it was a nice trick, it definitely helped me , so I had to put it out there , hopefully to help others
Pretty informative. Thanks. I'll add that I didn't have a dog leash, but I had to replace the belt as well, so I hooked the old belt at the deck and of he spring and used the belt to pull the spring into the hole in the deck. Then, I just cut the belt to be able to remove it from around the spring at the deck.
Yes, thank you! Great idea and one of the most helpful videos ever. Such a simple thing using the dog leash, but I never would have thought of it until seeing you do that!
Lol, that's what I said, when I notice it on another guys video...I believe I mentioned that , it wasn't my idea But wanted to show others what I learned, maybe it would help....thank you about my video, Glad it helped You Thx for viewing my channel...👍
This is awesome. But I think with my older Scott’s I have a different setup. Do I am going to take off my deck and investigate. Makes for a great off day project.
Thanks for sharing your video! Very helpful and great idea on using dog leash to stretch the spring! Tell us how you pulled the spring with dog leash and slide the end of the spring into the hole. I'm 83 and it's probably going to be hard for me. Thanks again!!😊😊
Could of been a rusty spring,(tension on it could be weak/stretched)my need new spring, Make sure the spring is in properly, make sure all your pulleys are spinning properly, right size belt, belt on correctly, Just some things to check One question, how long it take/run before it snaps or pop off?
@@honeycuttgaragetowing7971 Thanks for the reply. New, correct belt. Pulleys correct. Snapped after two hours. Bought a new one and currently still intact! Fingers crossed.
I couldn't find slot to put the tensioner spring but the one I was working on was a bit older and I didnt pay attention to it but it had a cut and welded chain link to hook the spring lol thanks anyway made sure the belt was on there the right way before I finished
Lol, Yes the ones with the slot cut in the deck are hard to find sometime, u have to clean( Skeet off the deck)of old debris/grass...then it's easier to find...glad you figured it out..
Thank you Kind Sir! You are the only video and only instruction based info I could find!!! Woman fixing her LT1000!!! Thanks again!!!
