I took datura once, went to sleep and woke up in the morning. Nothing happened... Then one of my friends showed me a recording of me trying to literally climb the walls inside of my house for hours on end. Its strong be careful.
I’ve heard of people taking Datura… but never more than once in their lifetime 😱 Terrence truly is in a league of his own. I’m glad he came out unscathed - the same can’t be said of most of most experiences, from what I’ve read… This is not something you do for “fun”. But respect to anyone who’s willing to venture there ✌️
Can't say I recommend the smoking. In fact, smoking is recommended rather than ingestion, because of the way the toxins work. But the one time I smoked - I was foolish and young, didn't know to honour the spirit of the plant, was just "try this, it'll be cool." BUT IT WASN'T. The Datura - however briefly - came in through the window (like McKenna said, only it wasn't wraiths) and brandished a sword and stabbed me 10 times like the Tarot card. NEVER AGAIN, thanks. I have friends asking me about datura now, and since I did not befriend it in the beginning, I need to leave that plant alone. I suspect (like Casteneda) that the right rituals might release this a bit better - but McKenna says "delerium" so maybe not. The Angel's Trumpet, which grows where I am, has been used in South America as a punishment for criminals. Brew a strong tea of the flowers, and it effs the brain so badly that you don't need to worry about that criminal again. They will be in a fog the rest of their days. Maybe part of the zombie myths.
@@rcnhsuailsnyfiue2 I met a schizophrenic witch who claimed to take it recreationally. She put a curse on my unborn children because I wouldn't give her a cigarette.
Datura always seem so hauntingly beautiful to me. Every dark and wicked history about it have something tempting amongst all those nightmarish things you experience. It's like a horror movie, but you are inside it. I think that I give that plant one chance... Vision of these white flowers haunts me in my dreams.
@@horaciohernandez598 Since that time I wrote that comment, I dared to try diphenhydramine and it was not so bad (I was really careful with dosage though). Unfortunately I can not find Datura at all in my area. So for now I forsaken that concept. Aaaaand thanks for your concern but I'm very careful with deliriants, I know the risk. With small dosage you should not get any schizophrenia or psychosis. I know that 1/10 or 1/5 of average dose would probably satisfy my curiousness. Also Datura is really uncomfortable, because it can greaatly differ with strenght from one plant to another - so I thought of starting with 2-3 seeds and see what happens. But like I said - I can't find this, so I would not be "TRULY sorry ever after" at least for now😛
This is so spot on . I was maliciously poisoned with that crap twice in my life . The psychosis lasted each time for three whole days . Saw the “Ghost Dog” and everything . T M is the person I go to to get a real idea of how a particular substance affects a person. He has such an amazing vocabulary and ability to describe his personal experiences.
A friend of mine and I took a road trip in 1974. We picked up a hitchhiker who had some mushrooms and had stories of peyote and datura. His parents were anthropologists working with Native Americans in the Sante Fe area. A week or two prior to our road trip my friend and I had taken a trip south from our homes to pick some datura and had it at home drying (clueless...). Anyway, shortly after we picked the guy up I had to return to work and my friend had another week to blow so he took the guy to Taos. There they both did some datura. Our hitchhiker said he loved it (and had previous great experiences with it) and he thought of it as an astral projection type of thing. My friend did not have a good time at all. When he got home he took what we had picked and threw it away, and told me that I should never even try it. I remember a High Times article from the late 70's titles "The World's Worst Drug" and the author didn't have a good time either.
The stories I’ve heard about people’s experiences with Datura is brutal. Although there is deception and propaganda surrounding the psychedelic field, Datura is the real deal kinda schizophrenia inducing drug that I think is well not worth the risk.
I found Daturas in the morning I ate a very big trumpet, as I walked away with a few of the flowers two little bees started pollinating the rest of the flowers and gathering nectar from them. Beautiful Native Spirit.
I'd probably have to flip through PIHKAL and TIHKAL when I get a chance. Maybe someone can help me out. If memory serves, it was when he was working with scopolamine or another one of the three tropane alkaloids that constitute the main psychoactive compounds in Datura. He took it and was driving over the golden gate bridge in terrible traffic when it set in. His long-time friend, of whom he had many fond memories, was in the back seat of his car and they were having a jolly conversation, regaling each other with recountings of all their myriad past exploits together. Then an album he had never heard before from one of his favorite artists came on the radio and he absolutely loved it, listening to it for an hour or so, then declaring it to be his new favorite album from that artist. His friend concurred. When he got over the bridge, the music stopped. Frustrated, he went to turn it back on, only to realize the radio was off the whole time. When he exclaimed the realization to his friend, his friend disappeared, and he realized he was alone in the car, in silence, the whole time. He had never heard any such music before, and the friend he imagined was totally fictitious, i.e. they weren't memories he was hallucinating, but rather entirely new creations his mind produced, totally indistinguishable from reality. He then got home ASAP. I'll find it eventually and post it here when I do.
@@SSSyndrome214 wow... that would be an mind shattering experience. I stopped taking mushrooms after it became hard for me to distinguish where the hallucinations began and ended... I can confidently say I will never ingest Datura.
@@absoluteunit8628 Also, I would like to try Datura, but only under the supervision of an experienced and trusted babysitter, one who is physically larger than me and armed with a lorazepam auto-injector. The problem with using the actual plant matter is that both the concentration and the ratios of the three main psychoactive alkaloids varries wildly from plant to plant, flower to flower, seed to seed. In order to have any idea what you're getting, you'd have to use either synthetic alternatives, or a homogenized and tested powder of the plant matter. It's tricky, but hopefully I'll get it one day. Until then, my dreams and more common and tame psychedelics will do.
@SoftserveSodium the upper parts have mostly scopolamin /hyoscamin, in the roots the tropan alkaloids were synthesized and many unknown derivates are in the roots, and also Atropin. it has the complete opposite effect than the aerial parts, not narcotic or delirant more likely your heart will pump with more than 200bpm. So the roots let your pulse rise to extreme levels (what makes atropin to an important emergency med) and the aerial parts will slow your pulse. A pulse above 200 bpm is absolutely dangerous and can lead to heart attack or rythmic disorders combined with frighting fear of dying also days after the consume of the root. I did Datura in 1986. This is a true story we all drank a brew made from boiled seeds. Once in my trance state I smashed twenty glasses then proceeded to walk on broken glass for two hours in the kitchen. I was pulling one inch pieces of glass out of my feet like nothing. There was blood every where. I took a plastic bowl put it on the stove then turned the stove on cause a huge fire. Then I knocked over a plant and tried to smoke the dirt thinking it was hash. In the end a girl found all three of us naked crawling on the street completely lost till we finally woke up from out journey. My eyes were out of focus for two days. We never knew how much to do, so we probably drank to much. never would I recomend this drug to anyone.

It's apparently a drug where the user has pretty much no control on. A lot of people have total amnesia on it and others go in and out of memory and those instances where you have no memory, you're likely doing some goofy shit. Sometimes people will think nothing happened, but if a friend was around they'll tell them all about the crazy shit they were doing. This drug seems to be no good. Very rarely do people have a positive experience on it and even rarer when people have a meaningful experience on it.
Spot on with that last part. From the positive accounts of datura trips I’ve heard, there is a certain flatness to the experience when described, users only seem to lose insight into themselves and the world around them.
I think whereas psychedelics lift you into a higher dimension, Datura will actually open you up to the lower astral realms, where all the disembodied spirits, shadow beings and similar entities lurk. Occult practices for the most part access and make use of this part of reality. There is another dimension to things with Deliriants, which can grant access to a more cosmic power by walking through a hidden door in all of this confusion, but only certain shamans will know how to use this medicine in the right way. The plant has potential to grant great knowledge, power and healing, but only to those who it deems worthy. Otherwise it might just confuse one or in the worst case destroy.
While you are tripping on Datura you cannot remember having taken it, you end up doing absurd things while thinking they are absolutely normal. Eventually, but in some cases it could be days, even weeks, you will come down, in great confusion and remember very little of what happened. From my personal experience, this is.
Native American tribes used datura as a ceremonial, I'm sure they probably know how to properly dose. They believe certain molecules will bring you home (somewhere in the stars) you will see certain gods, depending on the substance.

Well, the traditional western herbalists and cunning folk of North America are no stranger to the psychoactive use of nightshade hallucinogens like jimsonweed. An amazonian shaman or curandero should actually probably stick to ayahuasca and leave datura to the witches and sorcerers. For me, one of the more disconcerting aspects of the Datura experience was how close to home and even strangely relevant it felt in its central themes and messages. And I mean close to home in the sense that it didn't have this unconventionally foreign, exotic, 'out-there', alien vibe like the tryptamines which seem to take you to far away, mystical and exotic places and tends to more so harp on the abstract 'bigger picture' stuff like spacetime and the soul and all that. The datura realm, overall felt much closer to baseline reality and our normal terrestrial plane. Very sort of, ‘in the weeds’ and herbalistic. Almost like it has more ‘practical’ potential in normal day to day perspectives (sort of like cannabis). It's not about the cosmos like mushrooms, it's more… botanical and naturey. It’s indistinct, malefic, magic-like and has this whole archetypal sense of ‘cunningness’ and empowering the feminine and lusting after magical advantages and vitality through the use of plants and preternatural forces. There also seems be even deeper, underlying, wortcunning themes of “concocting” and mixing baneful, poisonous antidotal plants together to favor mortal outcomes and how this all relates back to the herbal, ascetic, mysterious, but also disturbing and eremitic nature of witchery and black magic. The left-hand path. Additional plants being needed alongside nightshades is a fairly big part of the experience on an archetypical level. In contrast to psilocybin, the archetypes of Datura are actually rather conventional through the eyes of traditional western lore and are technically, less unfamiliar to western culture than the jarring, cosmic/elfin tropes of DMT-Mushroom induced journeys through hyperspace. Much of Datura’s themes, at least on a surface level do have a documented precedent and cultural relevance in the west thanks to longstanding, historical use of similar plants in the Old World such as belladonna, henbane and mandrake. These specially mixed preparations I alluded to before were called ‘flying ointments’, which started trending in the Late Middle Ages among those who worked with plants and medicines and then they became even more popular and detailed by the Early Modern period. As many know, sorcery and magic isn’t foreign to the western mind like psychedelic shamanism is, unless we go way back to the Greco-Roman Eleusinian mysteries, but even then it’s still fairly dissimilar. Think about all the dark, morbid, fantastical, malevolent and superstitious connotational associations you get in your head just when you hear the term witchcraft; that's basically what the datura experience is. An occult-themed trip that’s all about magical power, herbs, the underworld and self-interest. Creatures, ghosts and daemons. Not really a healing, spiritual or even particularly dignifying trip unless you use it in its original form just as an ordeal poison for ascetic reasons such as the the renouncing of worldly pleasures and hedonism or taking up hermitry and nomadic dwelling and so on.
The reason witches in the Early Modern Period, in places like New England were commonly depicted in art pieces as being nude was because, being that they were in New England rather than in Europe, they didn’t have wolfsbane to add to their flying ointments. Ointments which contained Datura stramonium (jimsonweed) as their main ingredient were used heavily in magic and hexing but would often cause a tremendous overheating which was too much even on a spring night in Rhode Island or Massachusetts so they would just take their clothes off. That’s also why many people who die on datura actually drown in bodies of water, because they were simply trying to desperately cool down but were apparently too flustered and far gone to even swim right. In Europe this was less likely as they often incorporated the eurasian plant; Wolfsbane, which was put in place and added to the recipes to have an antidotal-type effect on the heart rate number one, but also to have a cooling effect on the body. On its own, wolfsbane could cause fatal hypothermia, but balanced out with a feverish, temperature-raising nightshade like jimsonweed it could conceivably workout. The recipes still remain the same to this day.
Damn, you explained it really well. It sounds really cool and does make sense the way you explain it relating to witchcraft. I'll stay away from datura though. That's a damm guarantee lol
@@emin4704 Thanks, glad someone read it. I did feel the need to revise it though ha. As I was peaking and smiling all throughout the experience with the crazy visuals enveloping beneath my eyes, I all of a sudden actually got jumpscared by some sort of goofy looking face that popped up in my peripheral vision. The funny thing is, is that this happened when I thought about the entities, I think that's why it spooked me. Really makes you think if the mushrooms do carry some sort of conciousness with them. @@jamesjasonallen4168 What's the smoking experience like compared to oral use? Easier on the body? Or is a lower dose a better experience?

Macropaul6.
Man...I haven't seen a McKenna video in ages. Love this guy.
The stories I’ve heard about people’s experiences with Datura is brutal. Although there is deception and propaganda surrounding the psychedelic field, Datura is the real deal kinda schizophrenia inducing drug that I think is well not worth the risk.

Until then, my dreams and more common and tame psychedelics will do.
what i can NOT recommend is to make a ethanolic Datura root extract and smokin it through a pipe.
Also tribes which use Datura believe that unearth the root is an attack on the Datura spirit and it will kill you.

I did Datura in 1986. This is a true story we all drank a brew made from boiled seeds.

These plants grow by the hundreds in my fields. They were brought there through hay over the years. Very beautiful though.
They're anticholinergic
While you are tripping on Datura you cannot remember having taken it, you end up doing absurd things while thinking they are absolutely normal. Eventually, but in some cases it could be days, even weeks, you will come down, in great confusion and remember very little of what happened.
From my personal experience, this is.
Native American tribes used datura as a ceremonial, I'm sure they probably know how to properly dose. They believe certain molecules will bring you home (somewhere in the stars) you will see certain gods, depending on the substance.

It's s shame that Terrence had a bad time with Datura; it's a beautiful plant, but it requires patience and experience, like Salvia.
Can you explain yourself please? I only know bad stories regarding datura and salvia
@@giovanniciancaglini5720 i've never had a bad salvia experience but it's definitely very strange and you have to have a good hold on yourself and be insightful or you'll start to spiral very quickly. i would try very hard to remember that i was on something and that it would pass in 15-30 mins or so if things even started to go south at all. also the trick is to get 20x and use a very very small pinch with weed and gradually add more salvia into the bowl until you start to feel strange and then you stop. less is more. it's a bad idea to use strong salvia/a lot of it. i just ended up talking to my lava lamp both verbally and telepathically asking it to tell me the secrets of the universe and had a "realization" that we're all in a simulation. however i did not feel very psychologically well for a few days after using it. before trying salvia, it seemed evil to me. in my experience salvia has kind of a trickster energy like a jester, but it is not evil.
and resilliance to scary things,,,
@@giovanniciancaglini5720 u need extreme care and caution, its very hard to dose, and thus very easy to fling yourself into an mental asylum a hospital or both. not something you toy with
@@giovanniciancaglini5720 One must not consume Dhatura..smoking dry flower will give you a nice feel just like cannabis indica. If you increase the dose gradually, you will have some profound experience. Here is a couple of genus to try with..Dhatura Brugmansia Suaveolens Pink Flower or Dhatura D metel Purple Flower. Dhatura can clear out blockage in your spine. You should know how to use it cause these are powerfull tools for mind provided by mother nature. In ancient times, Shamans both in east and west used this plant for mental illness and physical illness.
The first 25 seconds are oft repeated, but rarely the source is cited
Why did you disassociate with the Abraham Hicks material? I miss a video badly :'(
Most of Ghost stories experience you hear or watch are based on Datura trip
I once dropped some weed on one of these bushes and when I smoked the nug that fell on this plant I lost sense of myself for about an hour, I was hiking when this happened and I didn't know how to get back to my car. It's dangerous because it's easy to loose sense of reality and go on panic mode, I was ok but I can see how people can flip out possibly die from panic. Be careful with this stuff.
Have you released the song thats in this video

Ethan Johnson it’s definitely up on youtube but it’s on spotify as well, i think it’s on the album Rainbow Collection: Blast From The Past

I read a trip report where a guy was smoking cigarettes that weren’t there, and then when his fingers came together he thought he had dropped it and would spend 30min looking for it on the ground then resume smoking cigarettes that weren’t there. Rinse and repeat.
The classic thought loop
That’s a common hallucination with datura. Smoking cigs or joints that aren’t there, even if the person is not a smoker.
@MollyMcBooter no rlly i never new.trip reports always speak of it in most cases captain obvious
How many seeds is safe for trip

A datura trip was very strange

My grandmother took it n all her memory got erased.
Did she ever get her memory back??
How she take it
For me, one of the more disconcerting aspects of the Datura experience was how close to home and even strangely relevant it felt in its central themes and messages.
I also want to point out that since we're on a McKenna video I found Datura to have a "Logos" as well, just like psilocybin. To compare, I found the psilocybin entity or intelligence to feel very off-world and alien, but also androgynous and child-like or youthful. The presence behind the datura experience though felt clearly just female to me but elderly.. and malicious. Or at least malicious at first but there's been occasions where I would literally describe her/it as snarling and hag-like. I mean that in the most respectful way possible of course, but still. She's formidable.
@@Ryan88881 I must agree with you on the Logos psilocybin mushrooms posess lol. One example I had that matches with your explanation was when I was peaking on about 36 grams of fresh mush I had( I have a very low tolerance personally aswell lol ). This was about 1.5 months ago now.
Is it my subconcious that made it popup, or does the mushroom actually have some sort of innate intelligence/character? Very intriguing stuff... I'm not that experienced yet with psyches so I can't really delve as deep into this as you I'm certain.
It's honestly also very funny to try and explain this to someone who has never done psyches XDDD I'd sound like a lunatic hahaha. I did it once and all they could ask me if the things I saw were like demons or whether I was scared or something.
Other then that, I had to laugh about the face that showed up because it didn't seem like anything malicious to me. Even now I can only feel some sort of playful vibe from that. It was very funny though and was probably the craziest trip I had to date ( not because of that face perse tho xD )
@@Ryan88881 What you write about datura is really good. I wonder sometimes if she really is malicious or its that we hold that nature inside of ourselves. Once we learn to be more open and loving perhaps datura is never malicious, lets not forget she also has a loving caring side to her
Oh no, it is a true hallucinogen.
That is the difference.
True hallucinations are indistinguishable from reality.
Exactly, datura induces real hallucinations, not reality distortions like shrooms and lsd
even if you fall asleep you believe youre still awake and hallucinating like a dream in a dream,,, only its more like a nightmare,,,
@Ethnos Unlimited but you know it, right? You feel it, you recognize its foreign nature. technically the substance that caused that experience is not a "true hallucinogen" true hallucinogens include such hits as, diphenhydramine, scopolamine, dranamine, atropine, including all other alkaloids present in all the nightshade family of plants.
why does bro say hallucinogenic so funky
Macropaul6.
I have some coming into bloom x
