I do love mondays. Especially now that I set my own schedule and I don’t have to go outside in the rain at insane-o-clock in the morning :D Fresh week, fresh start.
This weekend I experienced an ah-ha! moment and finally think I understand the zone system and how it all works together! You're videos have been the difference. I'd hear of the Flylady years ago but couldn't follow it. Please, if anyone reads this who is just starting out, do go to Diane in Denmark's Babysteps videos and watch/follow along. This will help you to figure out your own personal routine. My routines are slowly emerging. I think I will finally get this clutter under control and the house cleaned up. I'm excited to see what my house looks like come the spring. If I look at this as a long term effort it is much more enjoyable. It doesn't have to be perfect. Ever. My mantra is "Remember you are not failing your are learning."

Dear Diane...you cheer my day and make me laugh! Great shower cap🤣. You were my break today, not much happening here as I'm away for a few days from this afternoon, so it's just packing and leaving the house reasonable. I'll be back on track from next Monday and am looking forward to it! Also getting quite excited about counting down to Christmas as that will motivate me to get more done too. Mind warp on the three tier trolly. I kept thinking of uses--magazines, games, sewing, office su]lies, tea trolley, cocoa il trolly, serving trolly for the outside deck--then BAM! I realized I was creating more clutter in my mind. I realize that's what's going on in my mind when I am in the store. Something seems useful but when I get it home, it is just one more thing that is out, gathering dust, needing cleaning and looking crowded. One of the things that i like so much about your house is that you keep things very clear and bright with lots of clear space and clear walls and surfaces where the eyes can rest or relax. Sometimes less stuff can be more cozy. I am still decluttering so PUPAs have home destinations. For me, this is a three-laundry-basket lesson.

I had that some BAM! this weekend. My windows sills have knick knacks on them and too many baskets with stuff in them. I cleared all my sills and this week the baskets! I like that concept "less stuff equals cozy stuff". Go you!

I live in Iceland and it has gotten cold, wet and already getting dark really early in the day. So i have brought out more candles, fairy lights and blankets.

It has been a while since I have been doing my fly lady routine. We moved and moved my daughter and family to our old house then went on vacation. Still haven’t got our new place in order and really need to get it done. I was doing my morning home blessing while listening to your video this morning. Thanks for keeping me motivated. We started getting rid of things we haven’t used or no longer need since we have downsides. Getting ready to have a garage sale to hopefully get rid of a lot of things.

I was watching a video about a vacation cabin for rent in Denmark. One lady commented that the roof should be white to save on air conditioning! I wanted to say, "This isn't Texas, honey."
Love the shower cap! 😉 I'm a "nester" more this time of year also and like to change my bed comforter, bed throws, living room throws seasonally - "cozy it up." 🤗🕯It's still hot and muggy here in Atlanta but fall is in the air and looking forward to "sweater weather." I cleaned both bathrooms yesterday, toilet paper et al stocked. Konmari my sheets and towels as they come out of the dryer. I do a load of laundry daily and wash sheets, scatter rugs on Saturday. I wipe/sanitize kitchen and bath daily using non-toxic Method products. I don't obsess but do like to keep my place pretty spotless. I have an aversion to clutter and like everything to smell fresh and clean. I live in a 1200 sq. ft. apt, not a 3 story house, so it's easy to maintain my little "nest" daily. I have 2 indoor kitties so vacuum/damp mop AM & PM to avoid litter scatter on dark hardwood floors (that does me drive me a bit nuts 🤪). Half our office work from our homes, my boss and I included, so it's easy to squeeze in household chores in-between emails, etc. Happy Autumn everyone! ☔🍁🍂☕😉
I discovered Method products a couple of months ago. Love them! I've been mainly using the bathroom one but this week I want to get the one for the kitchen too. They smell so good!! :)
@@suzanwahome7673 I love the mint/eucalyptus for the bathroom. Smells fresh and clean but not overpowering. Love you just spray on tile and no rinsing needed. Keeps my white tile sparkling. Just switched from pink grapefruit (spring/summer) to the lavender for fall for general cleaning. Fantastic cleaning power! I order in bulk through Amazon - delivered to my door. Easy!!

WHB done, then we went to the gym in the afternoon, and did errands on the way home. Recycling out on the curb. Garden needed water attention immediately on our return. Going to rest a bit, then fix planned dinner. I plan to wipe out the linen closet shelves in the bath upstairs tonight after dinner. I will do a purge on the downstairs bath over the next few days. Nothing to declutter or donate this week.

It's a beautiful guest bedroom, Diane! DD18 is a T4 & does the same thing..whoosh! She will suddenly "clear the decks!!" And then, I like to try out her discarded items to see if they can be "shopped" throughout the house ( which I have also been doing just of late). Nesting is in full-circle here for me as well :)
Since we don't have a DR or a hall, I add the Zone 3 ( one other room ) to Zone 1 which makes Z1 be: ( entrance, front porch, &.....guest bdrm🕯)
On my way to the gym each am, I like to grab any donations and drop them off to the donation bin which sets right in the gym parking lot. CHEERS to you on this Monday🍁

Im so jealous of that bathtub. Our bathroom is much too small for a proper tub, and you just can’t relax with a book in the shower.
We also get so many spiderwebs. As soon as I knock them down, they’re back up. But can those incompetent arachnids catch anything in those webs? Nooooooooo. Also, we have that exact same fan. Ours is significantly more dusty than yours... oh well, one problem at a time

I have a question about the cleaning zones. How do you break up a house into zones when there are 4/5 bedrooms? The zones only seem to allow for a bedroom and "another room", it doesn't take into account a house with lots of bedrooms.
Who is living in those bedrooms...family/guests/teenagers? My kids clean their own bedrooms (and have been doing so since an early age). Guest bedrooms only need done occasionally, so you could rotate. If you yourself are cleaning all of them, how about you tag on one bedroom to each zone?
There are 2 zones for bedrooms, zone 4 for the ones that are lived in and zone 2 for guest rooms....and remember, it's not a total clean of all bedrooms in that zone each time, just 15mins detailed clean in one a month keeps them looking great if they are decluttered.....or 15mins in each one each day....or 2 or 3 days per week....depends on how long your MR & ER take as to how long you want to spend cleaning in zones....don't worry or wear yourself out or you'll burn out...I know!!! Happy cleaning x
My zone 3 is the 2 downstairs bedrooms and bathroom- mostly taken care of by teen boys, the laundry and library. Zone 4 is the master bed and bath, daughter's bedroom and bath (taken care of by her) and the sewing/guest room.
@@DianeinDenmark I have a 12 and 10 year old sharing a room, a 7 and 5 year old sharing a room, a 3 year old has a room, the 6 month old shares with us, and we have my husband's office. I haven't done a great job teaching my kids to tidy or clean very well (lots of moaning and dragging feet - and a lot of leaving things around everywhere!) I'm not at the zone cleaning yet, working on the baby steps right now.

Sorry if you've answered this question in previous videos ... but is the Flylady system just for the woman in the house? After reading info on the Flylady website, it seems that the woman is responsible for all the the cleaning, and no tasks are given to anyone else in the household? Not being critical, just genuinely asking :)
There are many videos where it is mentioned to involve the rest of the family (kids to take care of their rooms when they are old enough, let your partner take care of his own closet etc). So, though it was designed by a lady, for other ladies, that doesn't mean that the rest of the household can't be involved or that a man can't use it just as effectively 🙂
My weekly home blessing chores are completely delegated to other family members as well as loading/unloading the dishwasher. All except my husband are in charge of their bedrooms and all in charge of their computer areas. They are do their own laundry. Everyone helps with outside chores.

I do the majority of taking car of our household and have decided to give FLYlady a go. I have delegated the daily swish & swipe to my oldest (who is 9). She and my 7yo also help vacuum on the Weekly Home Blessing, as well as pick up their room and fold/put away their own laundry. Once I begin zones they know they can earn money by helping with extra chores and I'll be giving them things off the detailed cleaning list. 😁
What if you make a playlist for each zone for extra motivation we can watch each week?
