Bullseye - George Best
Вставка
- Опубліковано 19 кві 2012
- George Best lobs the arrers for charity, and Jim Bowen does a piece to camera while the audience members pass around a large Tupperware box of sandwiches behind him. Classic Bully.
Brilliant stuff and very good of George to put more money to the charity. I saw Alex Higgins win a computer once and without hesitation he gave it to the kids from a school watching the exhibition snooker match. Two geniuses, both flawed, both missed and true gentleman especially when sober. RIP to both Legends and we will never see their like again.
Yeah, two great Irishmen, nothing like them these days.
This was so good to see, and it was lovely of George chipping in the extra £100.
I sincerely miss Jim and George, and watching this makes me want my childhood back!
George Best was such a good person.it was great seeing him like this on Bullseye.👍👍👍👍👍
Class from George Best. Total class. God bless
That was a very kind gesture on George Bests part giving them another £100!
George was a class act and a generous warm human.
He was a piss head who then got someone else's liver and then proceeded to fuck that liver up as well. He certainly wasn't a class act.
He certainly was.
@@stewartgreig3272 Incredible football player and a lovely man. That last minute gesture was lovely.
Put an extra oner in at the end for that very worthy cause and then left quickly. Those were the movements of a genuine diamond.
Precisely.
He looked so fresh! I wish he stayed with training kids etc and stayed away from the demon drink! That was the real George Best there (kind hearted)
I personally know that George was often requested to play in testimonials, obviously to put as many as possible onto the gate, but what isn't known is that he seldom took any appearance fee for his trouble. Such a kind person.
@@stewartgreig3272the opposite of wogan
George looks great here. what a good hearted bloke he was.
He was a good guy just a lost soul
And jim Bowen is a decent man
Working class Hero's
I went to see this man playing for Hibernian many decades ago, i was awe struck, he wasn't in top fitness form, but the magic was still their, amazing man, flawed but like all great people their are many facets to their characters.
I remember watching that episode at the time. It was early days Bullseye. You would have thought that George might have set a precedent for all darts players that didn’t get above 301…….but I don’t remember anyone else ever chipping in with their own cash for the charity. Bestie was pure class!
Two of the best footballers ever. Maradona and George best Died on the 25th November
I honestly didn't know that. They'll both be remembered.
You would hardly believe that two world class players would have died on the same day/month. Amazing coincidence.
Yes n one was 59 n the other 60 years old 👍
George Best was the first celebrity football player, he didnt have management. but he inspired a generation of kids to kick a football against a garage door
Like Elvis in singing. Sad ends to them both.
Hmmm I think Sir Stanley Matthews was
Monstersince, he went from a shy 15 year old with no money basicly to a loaded rich superstar in two years and it got worse. He had no guidance, no protection, a dont even think some one set up a pension fund for him, as they were to busy taking what they could of him. He wasnt stupid but when your in with the kind of money men who are trainend in how to make money by using some one elses money. Really they are con men and george wouldnt have stood a chance against these sharks. And yes he was a lost soul that just happend to like drink, and alcohol is an illness once you take that first drink an alcoholic will keep on drincking. And george would have felt deep shame after that liver transplant once he started again he just got worse. Guilt, plus constant harrasment from the press every day. No wonder he drank himself into the grave basicly. A wonder if he thought the press would have been so bad about it in the way they were? Plus the public even leaving there names and what area there from when they slated george in the press. I remember going into my local shop and he was on the front of every news paper. And a mean at least 8 of them had georges name on the front page of every paper. Surely that was out of order, and for what taking a drink. Ffs even 9/11 didnt get that much news coverage. And how did they know what he was drinking and how much. But no becouse hes seen in a pub thats enough for them.
come to daddy@@myaphextwin807 🙄 i should've said his generation. i also refute your point due to the lack of garage doors in Sir Stanleys day he wasn't a celebrity he didn't do talk shows showgirls or drive a ferrari🍻
George Best is the foundation of celeb football keeping hero George Best alive.
thankyou @alan mctavish
Excellent. I just knew that he would put some of his own cash in. Humble guy.
Beautiful looking man he was X
Supernatural player! A wild Irish soul like Higgins! Life is strange but there's no alternative!
Just listen to that crowd! They went absolutely wild when he came on
Probably the best footballer ever.
no probably about it he was the greatest footballer ever R.I.P.George Best
No
@@dannbuxton3556 yes!
Really
Wasn't that Eric Djemba-Djemba?
George Best - good guy. Of course people will love him or hate him. But addiction is an illness and at the core of it all was a good man.
Who wasted a liver in a transplant that someone who genuinely wanted to live could of had.
Urko2005 You small minded person. I do hope you are young so you can grow out of your small mind and lack of understanding.
David Johnson - He was a hopeless Drunk had who had hope that he could stay sober with his new liver.
Alcoholism is one hell of a disease.
addiction is a choice
Karl 355 - Genetics prove you wrong. Addiction is not a choice
George Best.. the greatest footballer in history.
byron elenica
He was a great, selfless playmaker and scorer. In my all time 11...
byron elenica LOL
Behave
Probably the best alky footballer ever 😂😂😂😂
@@morleywhite911 he could do more with 10 pints in him and his eyes closed than you could ever dream of doing
George was handsome man then.
Very very handsome man George could have the most Beautiful Lady’s he wanted.
Lucky to meet him and Jimmy greaves at a charity event up in Northumberland, a cracking night full of laughs and drinks the pair together was phenomenal!!!!!!!!!
Good to see George and Tony having a Tighest Farah Trouser competition
Tony won that!
George & Tony? A funny name for a pair of knackers.
An absolute gentleman.
Bullseye (1981-)
Aired Sep 10 1984. Season 4 ep 2.
George Best (1946-2005). Died age 59. Age 38 here.
Jim Bowen (1937-2018). Died age 80. Age 46 here.
Best footballer that God gave air to .
And Bully's star prize........meeting George Best.
weird to think that more than likely everyone in that studio are no more
Wrong dude, Tony Green is still around, alive and well, just very old.
Gorgeous looking gifted man
George Best, true gentleman with such warmth.
I remember watching this episode with my Dad. It always stuck in my memory that he put some of his own money in
I have not played for 2 years, you played today
Tell that 11 million out there! Viewing figures ain't like that anymore in England anyway.
Everybody sat down at Sunday tea time and watched bully. Was getting 18 million at its peak and still pulling 11 million when it was canned
I met him and he was a really decent Bloke .
Lifelong football hater here but even i know he was the greatest there ever was
A chance to meet the greatest player of all time and all they want to talk to is Jim!
My mates father met him one night and shook his hand and said "may this hand never stop serving the poor"
no foot baller ever came close to best. worlds greatest
George at that moment in time could have flown to Dubai, worn a Kandora and Shemag and declared himself the King of UAE.
The Greatest. Rip Besty.
Tavy@ george was a great down to earth guy! All the players from georges era are just different class compared to todays footballers! And george was the greatest player to ever kick a ball. And we never saw the best of him!!!!!!!
Class gesture ,when I die and they lay me to rest I'm gonna on the piss with georgie best GEORGIE BEST
Stand and de-liver, your money and your life
I had no idea he was so handsome
Amazing footballer and one nice individual
I was lucky enough to see him play for Fulham v Notts County at Meadow Lane. He was coming to the end of his footballing time and i am sure he was subbed but he still had a little magic left in those legs. RIP George
Those ol' farts at the start in the background passing the box of creamcakes around, hilarious.
Top, Top, Top Bloke..was George!
lovely chap
He was such a good bloke
when sober
He was very handsome, and so was George Best
See George late in his career at Peterborough playing Fulham in the cup .He scored a cracking volley on the edge of the box and lit up the ground
Rip George best
RIP George the greatest
Because it is the sport played by George Best.
legend !
Best the Best
Super
Smashing
Great
Marvelous
What a handsome man Jim Bowen was, without doubt the best that ever lived. 😂
Great footballer even better saint for giving £100.00 extra, Top man he's probually only the star that did give some of his own personal money we dont hear of that now given on the spot.
Fun fact George bests funeral happened the same day as my 9th birthday
Passing the packed lunch forward during Jim's intro
Crowd didn't exactly go ape at George coming on
Was Tony using a calculator when George was throwing? Looked like it
Jim's usual assertive on floor direction - "Meet George!"
And as others have said, the tight Farah slacks!
George was brilliant, and I have to laugh at "haven't played for two years", "here's £100". Good man.
11 million viewers...really? Wow
I assume he's out to get as many doubles as possible...
Handsome looking bugger
No psychologists on the staff when George was playing.
It's a shame they didn't provide lunch for the audience 😀
Nice clip, I laughed at the audience members passing a box around, wonder what was in that?
George the Best/*
Best was the only one I ever saw said he would add to the charity money.
Superb man.
💜😪💔
It's Douglas from the IT Crowd.
arhh yes, back when £100 was a lot of money... sigh
dotben imagine what a grand was like
Can’t believe this was only 8 years ago
Im guessing you mean when the vid was posted but if not this was decades ago
0:09 seconds in the old lady behind says, hold my fish n chips luv :-)
Nothing like being blunt pmsl.
Rip George.... What a player, saw him live a couple of times was awesome... And I'm not a man u fan
What year was this? Best looks slim.
I think around 1984
11million watching in...unbelievable
Great guy George and despite all he gave, nobody saved him and just took!
Charlie Magri somebody gave him a liver
quack437 That proves my point, because nobody helped to save him from his abuse and all just seemed to want to enjoy his company and say how breathe was, so they all took from him!
@@quack437 Is it addictive being a fuckin arsehole?? I think in your case it definitely is.
it got millions of viewers every week mate?
No way my grandad knew these guys I am from Lincolnshire 🤪
and a microwave was a prize LOL XD
Are the audience to the right passing sandwiches round at the start?!
I haven't played for about 2 years - great excuse!!
9th September 1984
He doesn't look drunk there. Fair play George.
He must have been, surely?
Yes i know that, but i am surprised why he did not say football.
Better if they gave him a ball he would have scored 180.
Looks young enough to be still playing for Man Utd . 😁
Did he say Jimmy savile
just a pity he never played in a team with phil jones
footy
I think this was a sober period for George , albeit a few weeks is my guess
It’s a British program and he calls it soccer classic Jim 🤦🏼♂️😂
didn't he do well think i remember her myself
He should really have 127 not 287
Am I correct in that this is an entire TV show (series???) about shooting darts? Why wasn't this a bigger hit...
it was massive in the UK. Especially in the Midlands and up north :D
it was MASSIVE
19 million views at its peak
It was definately massive back in the 80s. But then again there was sweet fuck all on tv on Sunday. Songs of Praise, Antiques Roadshow etc. Still having 3 to 4 channels of fuck all is better than the current 400+ channels of fuck all worth watching!
Doubles he always went for doubles and the odd treble
Don’t give up the day job George, oh he did !!!
