- Popular but politically humbled, President Barack Obama said goodbye to the nation Tuesday night, declaring during his farewell address that he hadn't abandoned his vision of progressive change.
But in a concession that, for now, his brand of progressive politics is stalled Washington, he admitted "for every two steps forward, it often feels we take one step back."
"This is where I learned that change only happens when ordinary people get involved, get engaged, and come together to demand it," Obama said from a packed hall of supporters in his adopted hometown.
"After eight years as your President, I still believe that," he went on. "And it's not just my belief. It's the beating heart of our American idea -- our bold experiment in self-government." (Source CNN / ABC News)

It was Abraham Lincolns dream when he passed the emancipation law to free the slaves, that one day a black man will rule USA.

As a Chinese international student, I prefer this country's regime, millenniums of left-right argument aside, 8 yrs, my most important 8 yrs of life, has witnessed how a black dude lived out to his creed with all these highs and lows: yes you did it. yes, we did it. success is not the final ending, failure is not eternal destiny, what we need is bravery and actions and more and more actions.

The irony when Obama says, "I leave this stage tonight even more optimistic than when we started" is that his wife talked about the hopelessness in this country a week ago. Obama's always been a great public speaker. I wish he could've translated that into results.

in all fareness thats my countrys national song , love yours too ,,,,,,,,,haven't seen all his speech yet, must say he knows spirit !!!! joyful spirit the kind we need , thank you Obama , I'm oz you probably know me some wat and I know you through the spirit in the way you speak not very often a person comes along that can yes we can inspire greatness in us all , maybe trump to ? I like to love every person and everything , our priminister I'm proud of too because he's been leading us by example, he gave a homeless man five bucks , showing us that this simple act ,if we all did the same we would have a much better world , rather than put down our leaders its best to put them in our prayers for God( love ) to give them gui dance , the last year I have come from disparity to faith in us all and government , Australia I know we love you America , looking at the glass half full ,not to the top so not to spill , any water left that is needed we fill the glass again , looking at the world with love and spirit ,that's wat we see , BIG FAMILY BIG WORLD BIG LOVE , real wealth is love , now I'm going to watch his speech
