Bush ended, Guantanamo Bay's prison population has been reduced to only a handful, and race-issues can't just be ignored like they used to be in our society. The unemployment rate is lower than it was during George W. Bush's 2nd term, the auto, banking, and housing industries have recovered from the greatest crisis since the 1930s, we have begun re-establishing relations with Cuba and Iran for the 1st time in decades, and the U. S. brought the whole world together on global climate change agreements. Furthermore, every LGBT citizen can legally marry, more states have legalized medicinal marijuana, women's pay wage gaps have decreased, he put 2 women on the Supreme Court, and millions of Hispanic and Islamic immigrants have become citizens. These were a lot of difficult issues to deal with in just 8 years, and even when the majority of politicians and citizens disagreed with this man he never gave up trying to make our country better despite many setbacks. Overall, was Barack Obama a perfect President? No, I will admit that he did have some failures, though he shouldn't be blamed for every bad thing that happened during his Presidency. Is the country as a whole better off now than it was in January of 2009? Yes, but we still have more we need to come together on (Democrats, Republicans, and Independents) to keep making progress to improve the lives of every American. Finally, in terms of being the 1st African-American President, he did the best he could despite the prejudice and racism he faced. Plus, regardless whether you personally liked this man or not, he leaves office with a decent approval rating with more people liking him than those that don't. While we don't know how many of his accomplishments or failures will be remembered in the near future, as a whole Barack Obama will be seen as the 1st African-American President that made this country better than it was when he started despite opposition and uncertainty; that (in my opinion) will be his legacy!

A lot of the issues he has referred to during this speech were things that he said should have been done, but in reality, these were not at all accomplished. I guess the kind of people, or leaders in particular, who are great speakers and great executives all in one person is very rare, few and far in between. No one is perfect, to do the thinks for the right way that please all people in the world.... even each president in any country, is unable for that. Each everyone has his own faults- which reflect imperfection. No man was designed to rule other and for the way that plessure all people. Even God that is perfect and can read our minds and our needs, we are unable to be pleased with. we sometime blame God. So live them by they own way. the time is nearby that we will not need them anymore.

We had a black President for 8 years. I'm 60 years of age, Black, ex military and union IronWorker. worked all my life owe no child support, never incarcerated. I'm not a perfect man but handle my business and i owe nobody $$$. When I was in 1st grade I remember getting sent home early from school when JFK got shot. And I recall every president since him. as I grew politics,government political issues human rights grew more important as I developed. I have no political party, and have voted both dem and rep. over the years i vote for who I felt held my Veiw points. I will never vote again, I no longer care. the system is rigged, the real powers just toy with us. Well I no longer want to play. I do not care about America or any nation. Obama had some good points. Some others he was dillusional on. I do believe he does care for this country. Yes every President had his fair share of failures. By and large, the Democrats, Obama in particular, are great orators. A lot of the issues he has referred to during this speech were things that he said should have been done, but in reality, these were not at all accomplished. I guess the kind of people, or leaders in particular, who are great speakers and great executives all in one person is very rare, few and far in between. The trouble with the Democrats is that they still don't wake up to face the fact that in the world we live in today, hyped up emotion and lofty speeches and ideology alone don't put food on the dinner table.
