From HRT to FIFA: Trans Athlete Joins a Women’s Soccer Team - Then Creates Her Own.

Shortly after transitioning in 2017, Bethany Cyrtmus-Davaul found herself on a Norwegian mountaintop, staring at the local soccer stadium. A longtime athlete, she felt the pull of soccer but also faced uncertainty about the inclusion of trans athletes in the sport - in particular the requirements. Wasting no time, Bethany did her homework, reaching out to a variety of leagues as well as the governing body for U.S. Soccer and FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) to learn how she could play in a league. After learning she was eligible to play, she joined a team in Austin and then quickly co-founded a new semi-pro women’s team - Austin Rise FC - whose inclusive values made it clear that they welcome all women to play on their team.

Didn't this woman have a UA-cam channel documenting her transition back in the day! She looks like the gal who did. One of the positives during her transition was the fact she discovered that there was a college in California she could attend that would allow her to play on the women's team. If they are one and the same I am so glad to see her happy and participating in the sport she loves.
