I saw the bob Dylan rolling thunder review in Oklahoma city. it was a pretty intense happening. tickets only went on sale one week before the event. try to realize no one had ever seen bob Dylan live that I had ever met. it was super rare. so the stage goes black then they hit Dylan with a single spot. he's all alone on stage with an acoustic guitar, wearing some kind of arab head gear, playing Mr. Tambourine Man. Some guy behind me screamed, 'I can't believe it...bob Dylan... Oklahoma city...i'm seeing this! I can't believe it!" which summed it up. I was seated on the floor. at the end of the show they turned up the lights, the whole band was playing, along with a lot of other people I got right down in the front and stood on a chair on row one. for just an instant bob Dylan made penetrating eye contact with me. it wasn't like a glance, he would look right into your eyes. it kind of scared me. the guy was a legend even then. to get soul to soul with Dylan was a bit more than I was ready for as a college kid. now i'm sixty-five. wherever he is, I wish him well. he enhanced everybody's life with his genius. and that's what he is--a song writing genius.
i believe i heard he was criticized on that tour for charging unprecedented prices that pale in comparison to concerts these days. am i remembering correctly? and your show was indoors?
Talking about wherever he is.. One week ago I saw him live in Oslo, and made a brief eye contact during an incredible performance of Highway 61 Revisited. I had the biggest grin on my face, and it spread to Dylan instantly, who was in a great mood for the entire show. He was smiling and dancing behind the piano for the entire show. And the concert was absolutely unforgettable and amazing for a fan of the folk tradition - as well as completely unforgiving to anybody who just went there to hear their favourite hits played live.
@@steina.brekke3992 I saw another concert of this tour in Germany a few weeks ago and can confirm - he's basically still doing that. And for once, it seems like he's having a lot of fun. The musicians he touring with are incredible btw.

The fact that Scorsese is so knowledgable of both cinema and music can be seen in the fact that he has worked with some of the absolute greatest in music history, who seem to adore him just as much as he does them. It started in 1978 with The Last Waltz, the last concert The Band gave with guests like Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Muddy Waters, Neil Diamond and Van Morrison. It continued with his documentary on Dylan, No Direction Home, from 2005 (also a masterpiece) and his brilliant Rolling Stones concert registration Shine a Light from 2008. Then, in 2011, he gathered a lot of intimate friends of Beatle George Harrison (including ex-bandmates Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr) for the brilliant 3 hour-documentary Living in the Material World. The live footage is incredible! From the clips I have seen it is great! Just for that alone I will watch this! The Backstory I don’t care about! Yes, it was 1975. Ford was in office after the Debacle. Kind of a bad year but the next year was the Bicentennial Celebration, which was better! So there are always ups and downs in life. You just roll with the punch’s ! 🥊 But this Tour was one of his best because he had an incredible backing band including Mick Ronson, Joan Baez, Roger Mcguinn and T Bone Burnett all backing up Dylan and playing well. And Dylan was On Fire 🔥! He was like a Prophet trying to spread the words of Wisdom he knew to the masses with mixed results! His lyrics are either too deep or cryptic or incomprehensible for most people! I even think sometimes he puts in a clever line just to show off and confuse people. Like see if you can decipher that line! And he never explains his lyrics or songs so that creates an aura of mystery about them. Good luck trying to understand them all! But I really enjoy this concert tour and his current tour is a shadow of what this tour was. And this footage reminds me of how great Dylan was! Now he’s a shell of himself. The Glory Days are over! I’m sorry to say so but that’s what I see!
I was third in the Edinburgh Marathon 9 years ago and now just jog 20 miles a week but I don’t think that I’m now a shell of myself, just a bit older and approaching running in a different way
I love most of Martin Scorsese's work and recognize him as one of America's greatest auteurs. I respect the mastery of poetry by Bob Dylan. But I must admit that when it comes to the rendering of that poetry in musical form, Dylan leaves me cold. I have enjoyed one or two of his songs as covered by others, and I acknowledge the massive influence he has had on several musicians I absolutely love. Because I'm not considered by friends to be a philistine, a couple of friends have, over the years, given me their 'guided tour' of Bob Dylan. Nope. I'm closing in on 50 and am pretty sure that some new pathway will have to open in order for me to hear Dylan in a way that pleases.

What an abominable edit job by Netflix. You cut together a bunch of lines Scorsese says (from what I'm guessing would be a long form interview)... I'm sure a lot of them are not related (by intent) but your disingenuous editing made it seems so. Odd. Just really odd.
What an ignorant statement. Zeppelin, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Elvis Presely, and--GASP--EVEN DYLAN HIMSELF "STOLE". THIS is a matter of historic FACT. The Beatles stole from Chuck Berry, Little Richard, and other r n b n blues artists, so did the Stones. Dylan stole early in his career Woody Guthrie Hank Williams early melodies folk and other songs that were part of public domain. Stealing is long part of the folk country and blues tradition and Dylan The Beatles The Rolling Stones Zeppelin and most other artists have stolen at one time or another... Picasso says all artists borrow great artists steal! The key is did you do something new with what you borrowed or did you just come out and play it as a note for note copylike a jukebox or did you take it and give her a huge twist n make something new out of it? Dylan The Beatles The Rolling Stones Elvis and yes Zeppelin all borrowed and they all took what they borrowed and improved on it and made it something new and exciting new spins or put on some of the material that was borrowed. Everybody steals and the material that Led Zeppelin borrowed they presented it in a way that was 10 times better than the original artist. And it's not like every single song they had plenty of originals kept coming out on the first couple of albums and then if they got further and further along now or more and more original epic classic creations. so don't single that went out for doing what all great artists do which is to find something that you like steal it and then put a new spin on it which is what Zeppelin did what Dylan does what the Beatles did what the Rolling Stones did
I’m sorry to say that I’ve heard so many disturbing stories about Martin, most concerning cocaine, that I will not put any money in his pockets by watching his movies...

Who here came here thinking he would talk about The Irishman
I thought it was about Taxi Driver. My internet is slow.
I'm not complaining abt anything Bob did but, you sir
had so many fake interviews in this film its horendess.!! you don't know anything other than fiction. (wrong director) for such a magical era.... you ruined it.
Make 100 more Lucifer seasons
Is Marty just sitting in a room talking to himself here??
A lot of the documentary uses fictional accounts and actors to make it interesting.
What about all of Zimmerman's leg-pulling stories?
His best work was his acting in Taxi driver. He stole the show.
What a load of waffle!
Pee pee
In other words, he has no idea why he made the movie either.
oh my god this guy is so old.
An oldie but goodie
Hilarious! 80% of this film was already made in 1975!
You'd be surprised how tough that last 20% could be. Some might think Let it Be. I'm old, but I'm happy...
3. Tarantino 2. Kubrick 1. Scorcese
What an abominable edit job by Netflix. You cut together a bunch of lines Scorsese says (from what I'm guessing would be a long form interview)... I'm sure a lot of them are not related (by intent) but your disingenuous editing made it seems so. Odd. Just really odd.
So he basically took someone else’s footage and slapped his name on it? Scorsese’s making movies like Zeppelin made music,..
And it's not like every single song they had plenty of originals kept coming out on the first couple of albums and then if they got further and further along now or more and more original epic classic creations. so don't single that went out for doing what all great artists do which is to find something that you like steal it and then put a new spin on it which is what Zeppelin did what Dylan does what the Beatles did what the Rolling Stones did
Scorsese and Dylan: coke buddies. Having one pushing up the other: predictable.
I’m sorry to say that I’ve heard so many disturbing stories about Martin, most concerning cocaine, that I will not put any money in his pockets by watching his movies...
Not to compare
But he sounds like another old white person I'm familiar with.
He works as a president to the country next to Canada
No the other one
