- Abandoned Long John Silver's - Lawton, OK. Today we take a look at this old restaurant that closed due to a fire and never reopened. Since the fire and its closure, the Long John's has only fallen apart more.

It has a grease fire. I agree with you. Our city council sucks! This town has gone down hill since Mayor Gillie left office.
Yes lawton streets look like your on a gravel road .They can sure build side walks, but can't rebuild the streets. The water lines are so bad and break all the time, and then they have to tear out the new sidewalks to fix the waterline. They do everything Bass akwards.
Actually it caught fire before it was abandoned, I live here in Lawton Oklahoma, so the fire department does not know what caused the fire, it has been closed for a year now, they had to be shut down until they can figure out what caused the fire to start

Funny story... I live in Altus and our Long John Silvers closed back in 2018ish. In early 2020 I cruised over to Lawton to get Long Johns for the first time in years and the building was actively on fire. It's recently reopened!

This is probably the same one I used to go here as a kid when I lived in Lawton. Long john silvers actually one of my favorite fast seafood restaurants. It's better than captain D's in my opinion.

When I move to Lawton, it was on fire On February 2020
After the fire it was closed a while they had a grease fire which closed the store but last year it was repaired and is open again. I live in Lawton crime not really any worse than other places yes lot of closed businesses
It's back open now
Opened up and back in business 2022. It didn't stay shut down more than two years. Come or go get your hush puppies here. I cannot believe they are back open. NO ONE was checking for LJS with all the taco bell, golden corral, whataburger, chicfila, arby's and everything around this location . Stay awesome~!'
Remodeled and reopened last week. Kept the original building but completely gutted the inside. The hype was crazy once people found out they were going to reopen everyone was asking when they were going to reopen it got to be a joke. When they reopened the wait time was over an hour. Nobody cared about them until the fire then everybody was upset they were closed lol.
haha so true how everybody wanted to eat there all of a sudden since reopening. I always thought years ago that they were some sort of a front for illegal activity because i never heard or saw anybody eating there

That LJS is located at 2636 nw cache rd in Lawton and is permanently closed due to a kitchen fire that started around 11:00 in the morning February 2020.
Quality was average.
Drove past it today they are redoing it. New sign
They NEVER changed the grease and the fryer caught fire.

I wish they would tear it down and build a caption Ds . It was nasty before it caught on fire, dirty and restrooms filthy and their fish was so greasy. Don't know why Captain Ds closed their menu and fish was a whole lot better than Long John Silvers.

My Mama and Auntie used to take us there all the time! It was SO good, and busy ALL the time… Putt Putt Golf was right behind there as well, and the Empress of China across the street, Lawton, Ok never had a lack of good restaurants.
This restaurant wasn't any good either.

I used to really enjoy the crispy bits from their fish filets. However, I feel that LJS food quality has really declined in recent years. One nice thing the LJS I lived near in Louisville Kentucky often had free fish fries for anyone.
I live in Louisville too but don't remember the free fries. I still go to the LJS/A&W on Preston Highway sometimes but the service is always really slow and the food sure isn't as good as it used to be back in the 70's and 80's.

Was a nasty place to eat, so greasy if you didn't have high cholesterol you would after eating there.

@@sabineskurnack3256wish I knew that when I was up there visting last year. I used to live in Lawton Oklahoma. Honestly don't remember there being much crime. I live near Jacksonville so crime in Lawton is probably nothing compared to Jacksonville. Also did used to eat at that golden Correll back in the early and mid 90's. My dad was stationed there so Lawton was part of my childhood. Basically revisit because of that.

Maybe while the cook was frying fish the cigarette fell out of his mouth and caught the grease on fire. This was a nasty place to eat, If you went once you would never go back .They should bulldozer it down and build a Del Rancho.
I never had a Long John Silvers around me. I grew up with Arthur Treachers. I would think a place to get fried seafood without having to sit and wait at a non fast food restaurant would be successful these days, but guess not. And Happy Birthday Kayla's mom!

It caught fire while it was still open. Fire started form old grease that they never cleaned up. Lawton is bad ppl always shooting at each other
My local LJS (Harriman, Tn) had 2 separate fires at one point. Course it closed last yr along with many others. Sad, but not sad.
They close because of the fire. I was one of the rare people that ate there once or twice a month with my family. I miss it 😔

As a resident of Lawton since 89, the LJS went up in flames on a Wednesday morning back in 2019 during lunch while I was on my way to noon Bible study. I had plans for eating there when I drive by and saw the smoke.
They are renovating this restaurant now and honestly I can't wait..

Long John Silver's ''Long Left'' Rock Hill, SC many a year ago (sorry I could not resist). The last few times I ate there it was utterly horrible. The future Owners DEMO'ed the Building and put something new up on the Property.

My very 1st job was Long John here in Weatherford. From personal experience I'd bet they weren't cleaning behind the fry vats. We were told to pull them out and clean twice a day to prevent fires. Then they got rid of the good management and brought it a guy who literally slept his way into management. He wouldn't let us clean behind the vats. One month later I quit because I didn't want to be there when trouble started. A month after that code inspection came in and shut them down because of the grease buildup causing a fire hazard. It took weeks to get everything cleaned. We had never gotten a grade lower than 90. I went in almost a year later and new management said they scored a 30 because of that idiot.

The Long John Silvers in Niles, MI has a drive thru that is in the front of the building, and im used to that
Where I live our LJS is closed down and abandoned . The building is still abandoned.

I grew up in Natrona Heights, PA. There was a LJS in New Kensington area just like that. I now live in Pgh and visit the Heidelberg LJS often!!!!!!!! Found your videos by asking what was in the old KMART by Sonic in Bridgeville!!!

That LJS was burned down due to a grease fire and that's when they shut down. It was operating until the fire, there used to be a putt putt on the Westside of the street.
Yea they had the greasy food for sure.If you have heart problems don't eat LJS.
Hey WallieB26 there is another old Long John Silver's A/W root beer in Tulsa Oklahoma it's at 21st Street and Garrett Road and of course it's closed as well
There's one in Bartlesville Oklahoma but the service is getting so shity but don't open the inside it's only drive-through they messed her food up there is no phone number to call It's a Long John Silver's A&W love the hush puppies but it sounds like we're all going to go under
Lawton when I was as a kid was the town was worth coming to now it is a den of thieves neighbors stealing from neighbors business stealing consumers
I see they are fixing the building, I hope the management is better than before.Before the fire the service wasn't very good and the place was not very clean, and twice when I went thru the drive thru they left the coleslaw out of my order and all the food was so greasy, no wonder they had a fire.

My local Long John Silver‘a was remodeled into an AT&T store and they didn’t even tear it down
