This shoe, altough I like running in it feel cheap, low quality. Sewed tongue?! During runs it's not noticeable but the moment you put the shoe on you feel it it's restricting upper foot volume. Even Nike Winflo 7 feels nicer on the foot. I would say the upper quality is on par with New Balance Evare (an entry level shoe I use for recovery days). It's a fast shoe but it does not compare with Vaporfly. I got it heavely discounted (108 euro) and I'm using for km repeats but I would not race in Rocket X.
I do consider Hoka Rocket X as a training shoes. Even it has carbon fiber plate, but can be bent more than Endorphin Pro. I consider it’s in same class as Endorphin Speed. I use it alternate to my Speed to change my working calf and shin muscles though. I like them both. They give me different feelings when running. For the racing version to Hoka Rocket X should be Carbon X 2, I think.

I wear 9.5uk in the Saucony range. I heard you have to go up half a size in Hokas. Is this true?

Hey Paul, great review. You mentioned three colorways; however, the Hoka web site only shows one colorway ( of course the one you have).
They should be coming out with the other colors shortly. One is red and white and the other is blue and tan.
