Ren has had Lyme disease for a very long time. His body was shutting down, he was in pain and mentally exhausted. The doctors misdiagnosed him for a long number of years, and thought his physical issues were caused by mental illness. He has since been diagnosed with Lyme disease and is currently undergoing medical treatment in Canada. You can see, that there is a lot of pain and frustration that built up there. My brother in law died of Lyme, got to his heart. No doctors or Insurance companies want to even admit that Lymes exist lol, they immediately dismiss it and think of other things they can say to get paid for treatment, as insurance wont pay for it.

Ren is modern Bard. I had similar experience reaction when watching Freddie mercury the first time. Watching David Bowie perform on the show The Midnight Special, Elton John with tiny dancer, Chester Bennington, prince in purple rain playing guitar solo. There are some very talented artists in history. This young man is his generations legend. The lyrical poetry, intelligent delivery. One man show acting portraying all the emotions. He is a natural performer. Music runs thru him.

This is an incredible dramatic piece put to music. His predictions have absolutely come true. He IS a genius and the waves that he is making are more like a tsunami. It's more than the amazing talent, the brilliant lyrics or even how they are delivered. This piece in particular, is so relatable to all walks of life. His is extreme to say the least. But, all or at least most people battle with one form or another of inner demons. Be it doubt, self worth, addiction, or mental illness. It is a very real thing, that people from all walks of life go through. The truly amazing thing, is the reactions people are having to it. I have seen so many people relating tales of their own personal struggles. How they worked (or working) through it. Telling folks that they are not alone and help is available. Things are being discussed that before weren't even whispered. With one song, he has created a forum for talking about such things. In doing so, people are finding a connection in an unexpected place. Each other. The main thing that I take from this, is that maybe we all need to try and find center. In doing so, possibly the swings won't be as wide or extreme. He is currently undergoing treatment for Lyme disease, that went long misdiagnosed. I pray that he can fully recover and continue to be a light in the darkness for all those who feel alone and that no one understands the daily battle they wage.

Most amazing representation of mental health issues in an art piece I have ever witnessed. Perhaps a modern day Van Gogh... Although Ren was misdiagnosed with mental illness causing his physical symptoms when in reality his physical disease caused his psychosis (ground level cause ). Van Gogh were he alive today could probably be successfully treated, but would we then have his art? I digress, Ren from what I understand when he was younger he used to busk in Brighton (England) but then dropped off when he got sick. I don't really know much about him except that he's extremely talented and I've listened to quite a few of his songs. Here is a little bit about his background, in case you don't know already. I gathered it from an old newspaper interview and Ren's livestreams and posts where he discussed his condition. Ren Eryn Gill is a British musician born in Wales on November 26, 1991. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue and subsequently dropped by Sony. Ren's illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours daily. Ren was initially misdiagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome, which lead him to experience psychosis. It would take seven years before a doctor in Belgium finally correctly diagnosed Ren with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and resulting damage to the brain, organs, joints, and PTSD. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. Ren is currently in Canada for more treatments, including surgeries, and will have to be there for at least six months (Summer of 2023). Ren's Canadian doctor discovered that Ren also developed a condition called Mast Cell Activation Disorder, which has affected the myelin sheath in his brain, his thyroid, adrenals, as well as his bones/joints. Ren stated: "It's a lot to wrap my head around having to be away from friends, family, and a successful career, and almost feels like a total juxtaposition to the fact that my music is blowing up right now and spreading to all corners of the world, but that's life, we take the good with the bad." This is magnificent. It highlights the struggle that EVERY single human being on this planet has gone through, is going through, or will go through at some point in their lives. Was he arguing with another personality within his psyche? Possibly. Was he arguing with the angel on one shoulder and the devil on the other? Possibly. But what I took away from this listening experience is that his struggle with whatever he was going through was REAL. Everyone struggles with something that affects their mental health at some point in their lives. But no one wants to talk about it due to embarrassment, fear of rejection, and the inability of those who refuse to see that this is an EVERY human condition. Ren is talking about it. I wish everyone could talk about it freely. We talk about cancer, heart problems, infertility, etc. From what I understand, he was misdiagnosed and suffered for TEN years because of it. Is it because no one talks about mental health issues? I couldn’t say. I’m no doctor. But, Ren is talking.
