Welcome back to the Wildcat Den State Park! Here's a film that explains a relationship between plants. In this region, there is a population of Stinging Nettle. Such a plant does not have a pleasant feeling when you make contact with it. Oftentimes, it will cause excessive itching and irritation. However, there is a separate plant nearby that provides relief. It is the Jewelweed! The fluids coming from the plant will alleviate the itching if you rub the leaves against your skin. A neat aspect about this is how they neighbor each other in nature!
There is also some explanation on the park's geology in addition! It is filled with dolostone that dates back approximately 300 - 400 million years ago. It is a material made up of calcium carbonate and is often only formed within a marine environment. This video shows what is called the Devil's Punch Bowl.
