- DISCLAIMER: I don't know how close this is to the original patrol cap Ranger Roll, but I keep hearing about it, so figured I'd make a video.
I will upload instructions for ACUs, Gortex top, and PTs as soon as I can. Stay tuned.
Check out my other videos for more tutorials and other stuff. If you want more Ranger-rolling tutorials, comment and subscribe, and I will upload them ASAP. Most clothing can be Ranger-rolled, so if you want to see it, speak up! :) And I'll see what I can do.

Major boot activity going on right here
about 14 years ago what we used to call the " ranger roll" was the rolled edge of the crown you put the hat on and roll the top edge in so teh top side fo your hat hugs your skull and theres a divot all the way around and a flat pronounced crown edge
That's what I remember as the Ranger roll.
My M1951 Patrol cap, a Tab, pocket knife, scars, and bad dreams to this day are my relics of the Rangers of 1972.
Here is a question for ya, is there a difference between the m1951 patrol cap and this one? outside of 1 is green and the other is camouflaged that is.
@@joeydepalmer4457 Stud in a minute i will contact you about the cap, do pictures, etc for you. Its Army Issue and I bought it at Ranger Joes surplus store in Columbus. They were so new then that everything was in boxes along the wall.
@@chrisnewport7826 just wanted to know if, outside of the color, they are the same or some what different
@@chrisnewport7826 i know the 1951 is green and the new ones are cam pattern
Joey, cant see to locate a place to write you there, about the cap; its an M1951 Patrol cap. When I was there they had no normal sizes left, most wore what was handed out pinned to fit. At the rear we were told to stitch on a strip of luminous tape. Its a good cap, give me a size and i will see if I can locate one. I know nothing about the Ranger Roll. Questions? It smelled like the Rangers for ten years after, last time I wore it was in Germany for a night problem in cold weather, I was part of the Berlin Brigade. Im the new subscriber.questions? Since they had no normal sized i got mine at Ranger Joes..
Do you have something on how to wear "wizard sleeves"?
Not a ranger roll, ranger roll is a specific way to wear your PC if you are ranger qualified.
Yea it is, cuz a ranger roll is just a certain way to fold/roll your clothes in a way that makes it very efficient for packing.
well, this isn't what I was looking for. When I was in the Army there was a different way to wear the patrol cap it made it look A LOT better. kinda like a peaked cap or something... it was shaped some kind of way. They called it a Ranger roll, I never learned how to do it or asked about it, but they called it Ranger rolled, and i was just regular infantry not a cool ranger guy, so we got to wear ours the boring way, if not wearing the beret. I got to thinking about it today many many many years later wondering how the heck they did that, the regular way of wearing never appealed to me, never like the patrol cap. The marine corps patrol cap is WAAAAAAAAAY better.
but yeah... All i can find about this is people rolling it up to put in their pocket or something there is no super secret to getting this to fold up and put in a pocket.
Illstick with the well worn M 1951.
When did this video come out?
Does anyone know if this will work on a British MTP patrol cap? I would assume so.
That's some funny shit right there.
What the fuck is this POG shit that's not a Ranger roll.
how to put booth in order
You couldn't just unpin and pull your name tape off Mr. OpSec? Lol
Roman Pinales Mr. OPSEC hahaha, I love it. It's not even opsec
Not if it’s stitched.
Name and rank/qualifications are embroidered on patrol caps. They don't come off
Not sure who told you the was a ranger roll. If you want to ranger roll your PC then you curve the bill in or “roll: them inwards. At least this is how we did it in the 2/75th back in the 80s and 90s. Might not be a bad idea to sew some cat eyes on the back but you should check with your chain of command on that one.
Having said that, why would you want to “ranger roll’ your PC? your unit probably isn’t going to let you do that. If your not a ranger I guarantee your going to get shit for it, especially if you run across one of us. . Just saying. Wear your uniform the way your unit authorizes. Start doing to things to attract attention to yourself and your going to find its not the kind of attention you want. Just saying
He's using the term "ranger roll" to refer to a way of packing uniform items efficiently
please do a vid on how to wear a patrol cap
A little too busy right now... but I'll see what I can do
put it on your head son
How you get you bill tht
I have been doing this since I joined the air patrol!
Michael Menten
OPSEC!
hahahaha... PERSEC
taliban must of watched 😞
I've got a question, can't seem to find the answer no matter how I put it in a search engine. Is it ok for an army war veteran, out of the service, to wear an acu patrol cap in civilians while displaying the latest rank achieved and name tag? Pretty sure this is a dumb question, but it's been so long that I forgot all the specifics and regulations, I don't wanna walk around outside pissing off my own kin or even other branches for that matter haha. I kinda reconnected with a few old buddies from overseas, it took me back, so now for some reason I wanna wear this patrol cap that still has the sand and dust in the fibers. that's all, hooah
+phosphorescence Sure, I don't see why you couldn't wear it. AR 670-1 generally covers wear and use of Army uniforms, but since you're not in the military anymore you really don't have much to worry about. You've served this country and you have every right to wear every part of your uniform. I've worn my ACUs (full or partial) off-duty quite a few times, and the only time anyone even said something was to thank me for my service! lol
IF your active duty you DO NOT wear your BDUS partial for ANY reason. AR 670-1a. Soldiers will present a professional image at all times and will continue to set the example in military presence, both on and off duty. Pride in appearance includes Soldiers' physical fitness and adherence to acceptable weight standards in accordance with AR 600-9 . Violation of the specific prohibitions and requirements set forth in this chapter may result in adverse administrative action and/or charges under the provision of the UCMJ . Having said that, if you are a veteran then you are authorized to wear any part in full or partial of your prior uniform. There are no clear definitions of whether or not you can wear an updated uniform. My own opinion is if you were issued it, dont wear it. By wearing a uniform you weren’t issued you are portraying that you served in that time of service. However I read thru the regs and couldn’t find anything at all addressing that.
You're no longer under UCMJ. Wear whatever you want and to hell with regs or what the SGM or CO wants. I once wore my old field jacket with my name, rank, and US Army still in it many years after I had served. Some old geezer tried to tell me I was out of uniform wearing it with my name, rank, and US Army on it. I told him I had done my time and I'll wear it any damned way I want. Those regs only apply to those still on active duty to not mix and match uniforms with civvies when bot on duty.
Can you ranger roll a tank top? Not a sleeveless shirt, but an actual tank top?
Yes, same way as a regular t-shirt
You can ranger roll anything.
Opsec = Operational security
Only a LEG has to worry about a PC cap. That's the not the Ranger roll of my day and I retired in 2004.
Thats just shoving your pc in your pocket. Ranger rolling your head gear is a specific style of wearing your pc that is not really common. I was stationed at Ft Bragg for a bit and certain ppl wore their head gear rolled and certain folks didn't. If you don't know how to do it, chances are you're gonna get crap for walking around with it if you figure it out or someone shows you. You dont wanna wear something in a style that is not who you are, real fast easy way to be counted as a jerk, even if youre intentions were good.
I don’t think you know what a ranger roll is.
BTW because of opsec and the highly classified nature of my job I chose my real name for my screen name, I hope you guys understand....lol, the funny part is, i do have a security clearance, and I dont care one bit about my name being out on yt, these "classified" guys are silly
That’s not a Ranger Roll....
They have no idea what they are talking about.
lol who taught you this? rank to bill, name to bill is how you roll. and cut out the inside of your pc. also add some dirt, looks like a female cap.
Self-taught. :P I keep it clean. Haters gonna hate! :)
Thats not how you ranger roll🤨!
Haaaaa. That is not a Ranger Roll. Are you even an 11 series?
You realize most rangers aren't even 11 series, right? Or did you just blow in from Stupid Town?
If that is what you think a Ranger Roll is then you are either a Fobbit or someone that thinks airsoft is real combat.
That’s not a Ranger roll. The Ranger roll is when Army guys fashion their patrol caps to try to look Marines.
Terrible video title. When looking up "ranger roll" this is unfortunately first in the video selection. Not the 'ranger roll' most of us are looking for.
You must've been a pogue...that is NOT a ranger roll! Who told it was?
REMF
Clown
No self respecting Ranger would ever do that. So call it a leg unit roll
Haaaaa. That is not a Ranger Roll. Are you even an 11 series?
