A Yamaha Xeno 8335 Bb Trumpet is reviewed here. I use 8 different mouthpiece (from very deep cup with big drill size to a shallow cup with a lead backbore), and then compare this 8335 trumpet to a Bach Stradivarius. The piece name I couldn't recall is the 'valve guides'. The following mouthpieces are used in this order:
    Yamaha Custom 11B4-GP: 3:12
    Reeves 41C2J: 4:36
JK (Klier) Exclusive Fl 6C: 6:30
    ACB TA/TF: 7:50
    Bach Mt Vernon 7C: 9:08
    Bach 7: 10:25
    GR 64 M-B: 11:32
    GR 64 MS (with #1BB): 16:08
Bach Stradivarius 37 w/ Sterling Silver Plus bell w/ Yamaha Custom 11B4: 17:35
Yamaha Xeno Bb w/ Yamaha Custom 11B4: 18:20

Jon. That horn sounds way better than I had thought it would. My head has that as a Lead horn but it sounds really good with your deeper pieces. Nicely done.

Fantastic trumpet! And since you're a part owner - thank you. :) By the way - love those sunglasses. :)

The MT Vernon 7C was pretty nibble with core.

I really like the sound of my GR pieces, but this Mt Vernon 7C impressed me. Thanks for commenting; always nice to hear from you. :)

How would you compare it to Carol Brass Andrea Giuffredi model ?

That is a great question. The Giuffredi has a really big bell - and it’s thin metal. The thin metal makes it easy shape tone with different mouthpiece selection. And the intonation on the Giuffredi is impressive; at least mine was. I felt I had problems ‘filling the big bell’, and the sound in my recordings never matched the quality that I thought I heard in the room. This Yamaha is a more traditional structure; average bell size and heavier bell than the Giuffredi; tone is easier to produce and is solid, easy to mic. Intonation is good on this Yamaha too. My opinion; the Giuffredi is a great soloist horn if you’re a very good player. The Yamaha will be a better fit for most people, and it will blend with excellence in a band or orchestra setting. :)
