and this is why many prefer zoning with circulators instead of valves. the sealed shaft style always leak and corrode at the shaft, which chews the gears, especially in off season.
the bellows type always eat the bellows or crust them up and get stiff.
granted pumps fail and sometimes seize from dirt, a few light hammer bangs will often knock them free. having more than one heating zone/pumps somewhat lowers the chance of a heating outage due to single pump. yeah your still hosed if the boiler/controls go, unless of course you have a whole backup system.

one thing I've found with the Honeywell zone valves is if the stem that attaches the motor assembly to the ball is crusty and stiff it will shorten the lifespan of the new motor assembly (and cause the end switch to fail prematurely) we go through these valves like candy in the heating season. Keep up the good work 👍👍

Joe, that is a very common issue here I see it several times a season. The Erie zone valves are also notorious for this problem. Replace only the end switch ? Why would they ever try that🙄.Thanks for the share. Great job

Had the same exact call yesterday 👍 three bad zone valves yesterday. It’s getting busy with heating calls now.

yeah, you can get end switches and the little motors for those and supply houses. I have rebuilt a couple and they work. i think it’s
better just to change it out. i have sprayed electrical contact cleaner in the end switch and that does work but those things do have a cycling lifespan. nice it was the newer style honeywell base and not the old base with the big o ring that loves to leak
