In the video at 4:15 when you're doing the change of direction drill. On both nets try holding the EDGE longer. You are changing direction on the left net at 11 oclock (too early, basically stopping look at how much speed you're losing) , hold the edge until 9:30/10pm and to KEEP your speed going in the direction you want to go which is 6 oclock. All of your power is going Left instead of Down. Same for the opposite side, hold your edge until 2:30/3pm on the dial and get your power moving towards 6 oclock or down. You're basically stopping. Former washed hockey guy / coached skating at a high level for a long time to all levels before getting a "real job" ha. This will help you keep your speed and your power going in the direction you are trying to go when switching from forwards to backwards. Good luck!
Simple drill to work on this. Drop your stick on the ice. Start on the left side, skate up hold your edge (right turn) to 2:30 pm / While swinging your body come off the heels and put the weight in the toes to start doing backwards crossovers down towards 6 oclock or the start of where you started. When you get really good, stay close to the stick, you are losing TIME/Power if your energy is going to far from the stick. Remember the direction you want to go, get all of your energy going that way. You shouldn't hear any stopping/skidding, that's a sign of slowing down.
Guys I have a feeling pav might be baconcountry!! Bacons favourite team is Detroit and pav named his account after his favourite player pavel datsyuk who played from Detroit.. and I’m 99% sure pav is Canadian so obviously bacon country is Canada
It’s cool because that’s almost identical to what I do on my on ice sessions and it has helped but if you keep doing what your doing you are going to dominate the 3 ice
pavel just wanted to say that im now more dedacated than ever to ice hockey i lift medicin balls hit pads go sprinting shoot pucks stick handle and thank you for being such a positive inspiration
@@PavelBarber thats true, i get what you mean. after a long break away from something can really diminish your skills (for the time being). best of luck!
Oh, c’mon! Really? You thought that ‘Z’(🇷🇺) referred to that?! Our sport is free from that nonsense… Keep politics, religion and non essential hoopla away from our beloved hockey! The only politics we support is stuff like Montréal/Boston rivalry or Olly vs Jacob in mini-sticks! 😂

It's a pretty big leap when you haven't played in a while. Even just the speed & conditioning - takes a while to get that back for me at least.
