I live up the street from sagamore. Love everything they do. There’s nothing that comes close to their 8 year. Much better than the Michters. It’s my most cherished bottle.
@@averagejoeswhiskey Thanks! My collection has grown enough now where I need something like that. Nothing like what you have but closer to 20-30 bottles now and its taking up too much kitchen cabinet space according to my wife. LOL So I'm researching and will keep in mind the weight capacity like you said. Thanks. Also I'm in Virginia and I got lucky yesterday at the ABC in Eagle Village in Fredericksburg and walked in on a drop 10 minutes before they were starting the sale. Picked up a few gems and it made my weekend. Keep up the great work!
I want that purple top lol. Did the store (hop cask and barrel) sell it to you at 400? Cause I’m trying to work a deal for a 9/10 year purple top in a trade with them. If so who did you work with
If Frey Ranch is the substitute for Willet purple top, then y’all can have all of my share of purple top. Frey ranch is the only thing on my shelf that I cannot stomach even in a cocktail.
It’s a distinct flavor profile, not for everyone. Have you tried a pour of Rowan’s Creek or Noah’s Mill? If you feel the same way about those then I’d definitely steer clear of the purple tops
Keep an eye out, you can have them alert you when it’s back in stock. I bet the ASCOT effect will die down soon and they’ll probably be easy to find again. Cheers!
Good video. I’m looking forward to seeing if sagamores own rye distillate can match their previously sourced 8 year MGP in a few years. And as a Willett fan alternatives are difficult to find, as their own distillate is just as good or even better than the prior HH barrels they had long before the purple top program started. And since the scale of their operations is so small (they have less overall barrels than BTAC has) I have seen people suggesting their prices being attributed to artificial scarcity laughed out of a room.
Yes, their scarcity is definitely not artificial. I still wish prices were a little more reasonable especially on the younger purple tops, but that aside, they’re doing everything right.

How do you find any of these bottles in VA?
Some I find in DC or MD, or the VA drop system.
can you fix your discord invite link? It's probably expired.
Here's a new one. I'll update the others as well, thanks!

Love the content! What is the shelving unit you have in the background?
Appreciate it! It’s just from Amazon, honestly I’m worried it can’t support the amount of weight I have on it, looking to get something soon

Your Blanton’s SFTB has my birthday on it, +/- 40yrs
My dog Sam eats purple flowers !!!!!! I hear old Kirk is an alternative for will it purple top?
😆 I haven’t tried Old Kirk but I will be on the lookout for it. Just read up on it and sounds very intriguing

They did. Couldn’t tell you the guy’s name, but I think he’s in that video where I bought it. Thin younger white guy with a short beard.
Nice video. As of a few days ago, Barrel Shoppe still had Smokeye Hill at $85. A very nice, complex pour, imho. Cheers!

@@averagejoeswhiskey maybe I got a bad batch of Frey Ranch. It just has so much of that Bernard earthy funk.
Great choices unfortunately I believe the Smoke eye hill is sold out on seelbach. Maybe next batch. Enjoy!!
