This show is one of the many reasons I was happy to see Ralph and Don Ameche (later in life), in Trading places! Good to have lived in the visual time machine age! Thanks, science!
Marge and Gower Champion were the most popular dance team in the 50's and 60's. Appeared in movies "Show Boat", Lovely to Look At", "Everything I Have is Yours" etc. They guest appeared on many TV variety shows. He won 9 Tony's for Broadway shows such as "Hello Dolly" and "42 nd Street".She won an Emmy for choreography for "Queen of the Stardust Ballroom" and also was the live action model for the original Disney's "Snow White".
I really enjoyed Hy Gardner on the panel. Working as a journalist for the N.Y. Herald Times, the dude knew just about everybody and had a wealth of knowledge on many different subjects. He could name-drop to the contestants like nobody’s business and I really enjoyed it when he made up names and facts to catch them. I think his leaving boiled down to losing his spot to Tom Poston, who was funnier and more contemporary.
Even the cameramen did a good job on the show as they did on what’s my line, catching all the expressions of the panelists when they learned the answers.
At a time when men's tennis was dominated by Australians, Earl "Butch" Buchholz was considered the best bet to put a U.S. player back on top. But after all his junior major victories, he didn't win a major at the senior level and then turned pro fairly quickly in 1961. I remembered where he was from, which helped me guess the right one in game 3.
I enjoyed Hy Gardner. Little did he know that with the changes in the law in some states, his name would sound like a marijuana farmer who enjoyed his product.
I have to admit that I absolutely love it when the panel gets completely fooled!!!
Linda Laurie wrote the theme song for the TV series "Land of the Lost" in the mid-1970s.

He was also rude to guests, snarky, and generally obnoxious. He wasn’t nearly as clever or amusing than he seemed to think he was. Glad he’s gone.
@skipeastport5529 no he wasn't.
en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacques-Andr%C3%A9_Istel
The parachutist was Jacques ISTEL, not Estelle.

I never knew Marge champion and Betty White met! Marge was 101 and Betty was Almost 100 😢
Correct names are Jacques-André Istel (b. 1929) and Earl (Butch) Buchholz, Jr. (b. 1940).
Linda Laurie would have made it as a voice actress. That's voice is awesome!!!
#1 girl would be internet famous today.
So not famous at all then...
Game #3 --- Contestant 2 was SO handsome!!! Talk about "love"......
I'm with Bud on that one. I think the answer that guy gave to Hy was an excellent answer.

4. Hy Gardner

Bud Collyer
Say it ain't so! Hy's last show. That is too bad.
Why are most of the rest of the 1959 episodes "private"?
The panelists were nude from the waist down, and at the conclusion of each show they stood and mooned the camera.
@@MrTruckerf Oh Boy! ;-))
Who is the panelist sitting between Ralph & Hy? Never saw her before or no anything about her.
Famous dancer n choreographer also known as a dance team with her husband Gower champion during the 1940s 50s and 60s
@@BALTSOXS417 , she was still dancing in the 80s when I saw her with Sandy Duncan and the Rockettes in a show called 5,6,7,8, Dance .
Why was this Hy Gardner's last show?
He was yesterday's news
Old hat. No longer relevant.
Did they know it was his last show
R.i.p hy gardener
Indeed. I always liked him as a panelist.

I liked hy Gardner!
petro parent he was great!! Sad you couldn’t see that.
I liked Hy too. He was rude at times, but I still liked him (a WHOLE lot better than Hal Block and Fred Allen)!!
Did budinski forget to say you know what !!!!????
In the first game, Betty White flirting with the #2 parachuter. Sue Anne Nivens is born.
😁
I enjoyed Hy Gardner. Little did he know that with the changes in the law in some states, his name would sound like a marijuana farmer who enjoyed his product.
Yet another poor attempt at humor, Lois.
May have already been asked on here, but how did this get re-run on current day/present day TV if it was sponsored by Marlboro cigarettes?
Man #1 in Game #1
Girl #1 in Game #2
Man #2 in Game #3
Please remove this complete and utter waste of time from the comments section
Thanks for doing this. It’s fun looking how well the real one does!
Just think girls , THE PILL is right around the corner.
Google the name. I do it all the time. Frequently I know the correct person right away!
Ralph detected fake tan.
On the way out, you’ll find a carton of Marboro cigarettes for each of you. 😱
Game #2: *How a woman could do that voice?* Maybe a carton of Marlboro could help… #justkeepwalking
