the weedless rig is a game changer. I've been hesitant to fish near some rocky structure, but now I'm excited to fish in that area again. This channel has so much knowledge and I'm grateful.
Same I went earlyer today under a bridge and with some pin fish caught a massive mangrove snappers and a flounder there was even snook there it was so hype
excellent video guys...weedless is the way to go... caught a 18" mangrove snapper in the inlet against the rocks with that rig...biggest one inshore so far...🙏
You are correct in using shrimp to catch a bunch of inshore snappers but if you want to catch keeper 10-15” inshore snappers, use 2-4” threadfind shad. Sometimes snappers like threadfins alive, sometimes dead. Scaled sardines, small pin fish and small mojarra work too but not as well as threadfins. Minnows work well but are more difficult to freeline cast and hard to keep alive on the hook. Shrimp maybe for volume but baitfish for keeper snappers!
Love the vid. The difference between catching legal ones consistently and those small ones is your choice of bait. Crusher jigs tipped with your choice of bait, I won’t give away mine, will allow you to pitch your baits in any area you want and drop the bait with enough weight to get the larger ones at the bottom.
Just subscribed, there's a couple more I've subscribed too, but a no brainer with you guys. GLAD to be on board with you both, local guys in Central Florida. I do a lot of inshore on the East side. Mosquito 🦟 lagoon, ICW, Banana and Indian River lagoon and Haulover Canal. Great content, starting on all your videos/pods. Thanks for the tips!
Yesterday I caught a 10 inch one in the ICW just north of Marine Land fishing from the bank. Only good sized fish I caught so rather then clean one fish I tossed it back.
There is a national fishing day. It’s June 18th. More people fish in the summertime due to most places don’t have Florida weather. 😂 I added your holiday to my calendar. 👍
Wait...@ 26:30 you say "I have a 20lb mono leader. I don't mess around with that fluoro anymore after testing it. It seems bogus." So, you're not using fluoro for any kind of inshore stuff now? What type of mono are you using generally speaking? Thanks guys
You heard correct... I've been switching back and forth between fluoro and mono for the past couple years, and I have not noticed a difference between the two. So I now just go mostly with traditional mono since it's so much less expensive and it has proven to have a stronger knot stregth as well as more abrasion resistance to the overpriced and overhyped fluoro. Here's a link to see the many line tests we've done in our quest to find the best line for inshore fishing: www.saltstrong.com/article_categories/fishing-lines/
@@Saltstrong Thanks for the reply guys, that's music to my ears! Tbh, I have been experimenting with the same thing on my lighter tackle set ups fishing for mangroves, whiting (my wife's fav fish to eat) and sand pearch here in Charlotte Harbor. I haven't noticed ANY difference in bite rate or break offs. I was worried to try it with the more sought after fish but, not anymore. On a side note: The wet noodle walmart style rods are actually perfect for inshore trolling mack's and picking up the occasional snook or trout in the canals while idling out to the harbor. My wife, the dog and I take a sunset cruise out to the harbor almost every night and we almost always have a wet noodle dragin' something behind the boat. Tight lines gentlemen.
Guys remember that in key Biscayne national park they raised the size of mangroves to 12", don't get caught by surprise like i did. also remember to check fish rules app whenever you anchor up.
Salt Strong Believe it or not, living in South Louisiana, I've never been offshore fishing. I get real sick for weird movements, so unless I can get on a platform, I just wouldn't want to ruin everyone's trip. And....I'm a pharmacist so I know about medicine.....but still scared. 😀
Are you ready for a spot lock trolling motor yet? It would save you a heck of a lot of time to spend on fishing rather than positioning the boat time and time again.... Great video guys on fishing with shrimp and around structure...
How much depth do you need for mangos? Any tips fishing the bridges from shore? Do they typically end up being closer to the middle pylons (middle of bridge) rather than the end ones which are much easier to cast to
I was told that Mangrove Snapper is considered a reef fish and you have to use circle hooks. I like to catch sheeps and Mangrove at the same time, but have a hard time with the circle. Is this true or not? Panhandle of Florida.
Yesterday, I used both the slingshot and the reverse current. I did not know what to do but was trying common sense, and today, I watched this video. Braided is soooooooo light that the wind will wrap it around my yak, the trees, bushes, other rods.... yikes!!
I guess I got a new channel to watch a fishing 🎣 guys...I liked the hoodies that you guys wear. What brand is that ? Thank you. Good luck & god bless. 08.15.2020
I prefer bullet weights for this type of fishing because they are less likely to get snagged on the bottom. Otis is not invited whenever we have expensive camera gear on board:)
Only when fishing offshore for reef fish (snapper, grouper, amberjack) with natural bait. I believe using j hooks for snapper inshore is legal, but I don't know for sure.
Chumming works for inshore mangos just as well as it does offshore. A chumbag and free lined chunks are deadly wherever they live. The only drawback is that catfish can give you fits in the warmer months.
Is it just me or does it seem like Luke i think was his name (main guy talking, the one controlling the boat) disagrees with or passive aggressively responds negatively to everything the other guy says. Weird. Good video though.
Can you please help me understand what you mean by letting it kick a little? Are you suggesting that the weight is just kept away from the hook to give the shrimp some room to move around?
Salt Strong im thinking you could run the hook in just ahead of the tail through the shell, might have to offset from center some, come out the bottom and back in like you’re doing and the weight would slide down just in front of the tail. May or may not be effective. But might extend bait life

Love the spontaneous fishing podcast. Totally awesome, 😊 enjoy the brotherly love and comedy!
Thanks for making time to leave the nice comment!
Thanks. I am new. Did some fishing years ago in Colorado & Michigan. Florida fish are new to me. Love your REAL teaching! I am on the Atlantic side...

Me and a buddy fishing the flats one day...he found a rod and reel on the bottom, picked it up and reeled in a 30 in red on the other end lol no lies
Please mail the combo back it is definitely one of mine!!! LOL

Great video learned something new
Just found you guys. Great content! Very informative. Learned a bunch already. Gonna join that club you guys talked about at the end. 🇨🇮🎥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for sharing Sirs..keep safe.
You can use cut up pin fish and you put it on a 1 ot circle hook and you can catch them
Yesterday I caught a 10 inch one in the ICW just north of Marine Land fishing from the bank. Only good sized fish I caught so rather then clean one fish I tossed it back.
Note that a large portion of Florida requires circle hooks for reef fish with natural baits. All Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic North of 28’
I would bet that you 2 guys have been in some nice fights
😂
Just got a 16' and few big moharra, fish fry friday.....shrimp again slayed em in intercostal in south fla, east coast wpb...
Nice!

Styx....
"She's my lady. Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa YEAH!"
I caught a mangrove snapper randomly fishing the canal in st Pete from shore right there across from the gulf
Winter haven! Me 2! 🍻
Guys remember that in key Biscayne national park they raised the size of mangroves to 12", don't get caught by surprise like i did. also remember to check fish rules app whenever you anchor up.
Cool. Can't beat snapper. 💪
They sure are fun to catch and great to eat.

What was the rod and gear you were using please?
Just checking out this video and it made me think about your shirts . When do you guys actually use the hoods on your hoodie tee shirts ?
Are you ready for a spot lock trolling motor yet? It would save you a heck of a lot of time to spend on fishing rather than positioning the boat time and time again.... Great video guys on fishing with shrimp and around structure...

Any structure I’ve caught in 3 feet to 20 feet
What rods are those guys?
I see this spot and want to fish there all the time but i fish from shore and the have no fishing signs all over the place in alot of these spots
Welcome to Florida, which in the past decade went from being the sunshine state to the no trespassing state.

Smallest hook u can use without being to small , to small is a pan fish , hook . I use a size 1
Luke with a split grip rod? Must be a test!

nice!
Do you you think the shrimp swim away from that little bullet weight a bit, so that the fish doesn’t see it?
Nice video. Next time bring Otis! Is there a preference for using the bullet weight instead of an egg sinker?
I prefer bullet weights for this type of fishing because they are less likely to get snagged on the bottom. Otis is not invited whenever we have expensive camera gear on board:)
Loves catching mj
I'm new to Florida fishing and I thought you have to use circle hooks only unless artificial lure. Guess I was wrong.
Only when fishing offshore for reef fish (snapper, grouper, amberjack) with natural bait. I believe using j hooks for snapper inshore is legal, but I don't know for sure.
A good tip for fishing close quarters, use a spinning reel and not a bait caster, less tangles.
Thanks for making time to leave the comment!
Seems like line usually snaps where the knot is tied onto your rig.
So.. nice video , but your off shore not on land lol. Either way guys great instructional video.
Well they are under a bridge you could stand on the bridge and fish and in the beginning they talked about fishing structures like docks
I’ve had reels break while fighting a fish...not fun...haven’t had too many rods break.
Chumming works for inshore mangos just as well as it does offshore. A chumbag and free lined chunks are deadly wherever they live. The only drawback is that catfish can give you fits in the warmer months.
Yes, chumming is a great way to get some action churned up both inshore and offshore.
Joe, goombah, stop interrupting. I know you're brothers but dude, wait your turn...lmbo
yesterday i had a huge mangrove snapper hooked biggest i’ve ever seen and the hook came undone terrible
Sounds like you blew it, big time
thought u never used live bait anymore and acording to your 90/10 rule you said stay away from bridges??
It looks like you’ve rigged the hook fish-less. You should have used that lady fish for bait and you could sort through those schooler mangroves.
Is it just me or does it seem like Luke i think was his name (main guy talking, the one controlling the boat) disagrees with or passive aggressively responds negatively to everything the other guy says. Weird. Good video though.
They are brothers. lol
I love the way this guy says “Old Jon Boat” like its the China Virus or something. “Missed it again”, tell us how to do it…..
Honestly don’t see why you can’t rig it exactly as you do with the tail and let the shrimp kick a little. Just a thought.
But might extend bait life
You are literally offshore
