GOT EMMM!! Stoked on this trip still, see you on the next one 🤙 Coupla notes: A-rig is 5 hooks max to be legal for bass & we discovered you measure to the top of the carapace. All still legal!
ok this was lowkey one of the coolest videos youve ever made. The unexpected wholesomeness of the crowded fishing spot, you captured the spirit of the community in this video.
I downloaded video #1 to play on my flight home for Christmas, watched it as our plane went up.. then turned back around.. So now part two can be watched as I get driven back home 😂
That was cool. I’ve gotten so many lobsters off of the Santa Monica pier when I was a kid growing up, and I never knew that trick to taking out the poop line. I used to just put the antennas in my hat when I was a kid and just walked around the pier, catching lobster and wearing the the bug antenna is on my hat I never thought to remove the poop line with it. That was awesome.
Man great collab !!! I want a collab with Matt and Rokkit Kit sooo bad!! Takuuu actually went down. I could see Matt and Rob camping on an island and spear fishing
Miss hoop netting in so cal. Moved out here to Dallas and been a year since I seen the ocean. All my life living in Huntington Beach and hardly went. Now I miss it. Next time try hoop netting in Long Beach or Catalina Island. Watching your videos reminds me of all the fishing trips I've done up and down the California coast. Tight lines can't wait to see more content.
Thank you for asking me how I was doing over the Christmas Holidays, as I said I lost my father and mother too in a car accident in Utah, however things are working on my end to help me heal, Thank you for your videos and your reply, If you ever want to ski in Utah, let me know, I am a ski instructor for Alta, and Snowbird and Park City, However Only teach and guide blind people who want to experience skiing, I would help you too if you wanted to ski Utah, service helps me get over these personal things, love all the effort you put in videos
I have an idea for a video for you. A long compilation of some of your best cooks. From avocado butter, and Trout, to some of your best sea fish cooks. This lobster one looked hella good. The fishing is great, but my favorite parts are when you cook. Makes me so damn hungry. Thanks for this new video.
Glad to see you back in SoCal for some fishin' & buggin', & for a visit with Andrew & his family--he's my former coworker in the ER @ Sharp Memorial, before he went to Kaiser SDMC...he's a great guy, & it would be cool to see him in another one of your videos!
You're right about the male and female bugs btw, the females have the bigger fins on their tales for eggs and the males have smaller ones. Awesome to see you at some familiar places!
New fan, new subscriber! In the last few months you’ve showed me all kinds of things I can catch and cook in the area! Ordered some tackle! Can’t wait to try out the jigs and jig heads! Keep the up good work bro! Not mention gonna get out and try to get some crabs! 🦀 🤟
Yo matt u got me into fishing and i listen to ur vids at night as i sleep 😂 but i need more jetty videos from you because thats where i usually go in half moon bay
23:40 Do you make videos at all about gardening or anything else you do on your property? So awesome that you have all that out there growing for you and your fam
You guys were fishing right on the boarder of where north is restricted and where you are is okay I fished there in my skiff in July and caught everything on plastics ! Matt’s used to catching those huge lings from his area that’s why he threw that cab back
😮Gee Bro, you deal with a lot! "Crabtrap Frizbee Tossing Sea Lions"😳"Oh, that's the only episode you remember, the Glock, huh?" Nice lobster chitterling lesson😊😅😂 Memphis,10🇺🇲
You're correct. The swimmerets are typically larger on the female spiny lobster, and the eggs are orange. Still have yet to get legals this season. Hopefully soon. I should try Dana Point. Haven't had luck in SD so far.
Happy holidays from the PNW. Sorry they've closed salmon season for you folks for the past two years. Hopefully next year they will reopen it for you down there. Worst case scenario, you can come up here and I could show you some spots.
the spikes point towards the tip so putting the antenna in base end first will make it go in smoother and it'll to a better job of grabbing the poop chute.
Nice seeing you in OC I night dive that spot you guys were at for lobster. They usually dont really start crawling till at least an hour-two after sunset.
look up Tomalley. It is the greenish stuff in the head of the lobster when you cook the animal whole. It is edible and is the guts of the lobster including the liver and pancreas. It is a delicacy in the northeast of our country. One way to serve it is to cook whole then cut the lobster down the middle head to tail. Now you have access to all the lobster. I mixed the tomalley with butter and put it on bread/biscuits. It's a little bitter and the butter adds so much to it. Easiest way to get the tail meat out is break off the bottom fins, insert a fork and push the meat up like a push-up ice cream.
I was watching the video of you camping on the coast for three days and two nights where you got poison oak said to take a cold shower and soap. Try using the ash from the fire obviously not the hot stuff but it helped me with poison ivy
0:53 This is how you know you're fishing with a socal boy. "Its 3-4ft instead of 1-2ft" Lol. Matt's from norcal, where under 5ft is like the best you get every 50 days or so.
For spiny lobster it’s best to grill them over coals with garlic butter, or sear them on a pan. Unlike Maine lobster that are boiled because of their high fat content, spiny lobster lack such properties. Next time try grilling or pan searing them it’s much better 🤙🏼
There's some meat worth fighting for in the body. Just like a crab where the legs join the body. You can also use a rolling pin to push the meat out of the leg segments. Crazy that all you got were keepers. Lots of shorts typically
Hey Matts I hope this question isn't offensive to you: I was just curious about your cultural heritage/background, or ethnicity. I don't know why, but I always assumed you were either half Filipino or part Filipino. I know you have many asian friends, so that's why I was asking. If it's private, I totally respect that, just ignore my intrusive question. Love your content man!

Happy Holidays, love the videos
I love it! Great stuff guys. Can definitely tell Scott is a SoCal boy with that accent! Lol!
Good to see you at one of the areas that I fish quite a bit.
That antenna poop sac trick was awesome!

I'm a subscriber for almost 11 years now 👌
You're looking healthy boss 💪
I hope you and yours have a great Christmas 🙂
Wow that poop sac trick is clutch.
That looks deeelicious 🦞🦞
Nice haul. They're very common around the New Zealand coast. We call them Crayfish or saltwater Koura.
There's meat in the base of the antennas and you can squeeze meat out of the legs with a rolling pin.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!!🙏🤙🤙
Praying you guys are safe right now. Please update us when you can.
Hell yeah!!! Alone spiny lobster is the best
Thanks my Mexican friend for this video god bless

In my town! So sick nice job by you and Scott. You should try diving for the lobster next time. My favorite way to get them and most fun imo!
I'm so sad I missed you guys! I was just there on the 27th 😭
They are known to come out at night.

Merry Christmas Matt and family 🎄🎅.

Love Dana Point!!!
I’m so jealous I would love to live by the ocean
lol dam that spider didnt know what it was in for
The orange red sacks are indeed the eggs; which are the best part.

Hope you, your family and your friends are not affected by the fire in San Francisco. Praying for your all to be safe.
Yo what Dana? Aye welcome to my hometown
Epic! Next time throw some vinegar in that pot just a tsp really helps separate and adds to the sweetness

Cool video - Dungeness is king, though.

When I go fishing. I love to hear the ocean the Birds. just Listen to the sounds of Mother nature, instead of listening to music.

Dude, boil them shells for a fish stock. It's a good starter for soups and chowders.
On your lobster you ate, if you take the orange skin off the tail, it tastes better and easier to eat.
Why is Shohei Ohtani using a deep voice recorder like we don't know it's him? Awsome video! Waiting until the next one!
Wow Dana Point I go there for my lobsters too
Those guys at the first spot made me think of the Jeff Foxworthy joke : If you've ever been too drunk to fish.....
Love your solo vids but the ones with fan public interactions hit different!
