Wow. Where to start I think I have something in my eye cuz I'm tearing up. I believe the guy crafting the molds and designing in the 1953 scene that they show is Shinroku Momose. The historical context of how FHI was created and the push to using the boxer engine lays in the heart of all the employees. Interesting how Subaru's first production car (the 360) looks exactly like a VW beetle. That actually isn't what makes Subaru unique in that sense, lets face it. The boxer engine was not created by Japan, its German. However, Subaru is the first car company to use symmetrical AWDrivetrain on their cars... since 1973 actually. I drive a 2005 STi and that car is the shits, I love it. Probably the most raced out car released for that year. The feature on the car called Driver Controlled Center Differential DCCD (look it up) is now used on super cars that cost upwards of $100,000 like the Nissan GTR and my 05 STi is now 10 years old! :-) The only issue with the boxer engine that engineers were mindful of is over heating problems. And if you blow the head gaskets the entire motor has to be pulled because there is no room to take the heads and cams off the block in the engine compartment because of the horizontally opposed piston layout. For performance, engineers knew that the boxer engine layout was the best option to evenly distribute power throughout a symmetrical drivetrain setup. Its what makes a Subaru.... a Subaru
Well these guys forgot to mention Subaru's top tier offroader/workhorse... So I'll do it instead: The Forester was first introduced in 1998. It put the start of a new type of vehicle the world hasn't heard of ever! A relatively small sports utility yet very capable offroad. In 1999 the forester recieved a turbo or as you may know it The XT models. In 2001 it got a facelift. 2002-2008 The second gen was born. The models from 2005-2005 are the facelift ones which also come with 158hp engine. 2009-2012 the first diesel foresters were introduced(3rd gen foresters) together with the new VDC system. From 2014-2018 4th gen foresters came. They are more economical and have the well known X-mode system which replace the low gears option from the first and second generations and also gives some more advantages in offroading. The foresters from 2016-2018 are the facelift ones. Fifth gen is expected in 2019. You are welcome. And no i did not copy this information from the internet i wrote it myself :)
Nice piece of work, and as an SVX owner, place it neatly in the history. I think though that the Vortex (as we called it here in OZ) or XT6 should have made an appearance. Lets just not say too much about the B11. :) It's time for the SVX MkII.........
When I moved to the PNW from CA people made fun of me for calling them Su-BAR-u. That’s what I grew up with all the ads calling them. Now they call them SU-baru. Whatever. Pick a name and stick with it.
Also this video made me cry.I love Subaru even more now.
Love, it’s what makes a Subaru, a Subaru.
Subaru and Saab are two very unique companies since both had their origins in aircraft manufacturing

Bad valve spring recalls , bad CVTs , poor head-sealing...ghostwalking out of control in a straight line...never again Subaru.
