I fell in love with the WRX playing Gran Turismo on the PlayStation 1 and 2. It was always my favorite car in the game just to drive and chase lap time ghosts.
U.S. got wrx wagons 02-07, 02-05 with the ej20, 06-07 came with the ej25. 06-14 wrx came with ej25, 08-09 (the worst wrx ever) was the narrow body wrx hatch and 10-14 wide body wrx hatch.
I don’t know why I’m just seeing this, but I want to say that the 22b is very special. Because of the Pedegree that goes with it. But if you are going for ultra rare performance Subarus, then the S201 is what you were looking for. They only made 76 of them from the factory and they were more powerful and had more torque than the 22b
i have a sf5 forester GT Turbo = swapped it all out for STI stuff = super car performance and so handy with the in car space - love the sound and ej207 sti jdm spec c ra engine ! - so many aftermarket go fast parts - i am really happy and ready to = BUILD SOME MORE = i think i could make a 4 door into a 2 door = might take me 6 months ! - although a new version is avaliable in UK - pro drive build them !
So hard to not get a squirrely boostercoaster of fun that nothing else will be able to imitate like an 04 sti (or even a 2003 evo 8) instead of getting a more practical 22 wrx (for almost the same price) with all the modern conveniences and practicality. Cant bring myself to justify it. I just say "the 22wrx is still a blast".
EA82 goes up to 8,500 RPM. They always forget to mention the real origin based on the 1987 Leone RX that later became to be the Impreza wrx. He is talking more about the trayectory rather than history. FF1 was subarus first rally car at north America. No mentioned of Noriyuki Koseki, David Richards "The first Subaru car entered a world rally at the 1980 Safari Rally and since that, the team only participated in a few events per season, driving the Subaru Leone."etc. The first AWD turbo was Leone RX with first LSD, body kit, dual range transmision, boost controller, etc.
There were just so many special editions of this car, even special editions of special editions.. if I mentioned them all this video would probably be over an hour long 😅
There were many turbocharged all-wheel drive cars other than the Eclipse available before the WRX arrived in the United States. In fact, the WRX wasn't even the first turbocharged, all-wheel drive Subaru available in the US. Much to learn, you have. EDITING AS I WATCH: We did not lose the wagon with the introduction of the blob-eye Impreza / WRX. SMH dude... you didn't bother to check your own work at all? Did you?
Decent video. But completely unforgivable that when you were talking about all the wins in 1995, 1996 and 1997 you showed pretty much nothing but footage of the 2 door WRC car…..and not the 4 DOOR GROUP A RALLY CAR THAT ACTUALLY GOT ALL THE WINS. Even when you were talking about the transition from the legacy to the Impreza, you showed the 2 Door WRC car. 😂 I guess you were really just itching to transition into that 22b segment as soon as you could.
Happy 30th Subaru Impreza!

I liked seeing the clip from the STPR rally! My friends and I go every year and are heading up next month!

A historic history lesson from Professor Ernie! Great job my friend!
Glad you enjoyed it

Peter Stevens designing the blob eye explains why its the best looking of the GDs
Peter Stevens also designed the 2door widebody WRC car that the 22b was based on.
Before the impreza, you had also the porsche turbo awd

Imitate*
Damn that thing is fast 😮
I don’t think the only cars available for Turbo AWD models were just the Laser/Eclipse/Talon. Wasn’t there also 3000GT/Stealth.
Audi A4 Quattro. I owned a 2000.

Definitely didn't lose the wagon in 04. My buddy has a WRX right now waiting to drop his built 2.5 swap into
Shout out to Possum Bourne for starting the winning for subaru in rally.
Shouts out, not forgotten
You Gotta Love It!!!
The 22b is special. I would still rather have an S401 or S402.
No mention of s209

Theres a dyno on youtube. I asked the base numbers it was 330whp
Okay that’s pretty insane
That was a DL wagon not a GL when you said DL :P
If you dont know what a P1 is then you dont know much about the impreza
Was the saab not based on a vauxhall? Nice video by the way
Nope it was built on the same assebly line as WRXs and Imprezas
@@rallysportdirect thank you. Love the content

100% spot on.
The Group A sounded much better than the WRC version as well......
He skipped all the special editions but he is a yank after all.
It's crazy how when you look back, the 22 has so many design elements from the older models. iT LoOkS LiKe a CiViC. 🤣
