Up here in New England there are still a few water wells punched by pounding. The rig used is very similar to your derrick truck. It is very economical but time consuming. However, they are usually less than 100' deep as opposed to the drilled wells which are much deeper.

That upside down radial bearing is kind of opposite engineering for me. To me, I would expect radial pillow blocks on the two sides with a stationary shaft on the top. But this works as well.. just seems weird from what I normally see. LOVE your press man. What a great fast clean press you built there. If I could redo my last 30 years, it would be putting a press like that in instead of manually trying to press things out with a bottle jack. Smart putting in a zirc

I know it's easy to climb up and grease nipples that are up higher like that, but have you ever considered getting longer grease tubes to bring the nipples down to lower points? That would be easier to access instead of having to climb up and grease them. I know it wouldn't really be possible to do it on a moving part, but at least attaching a grease tube to the arm and bring it down to the point where it rests low. Then you can disconnect the grease gun there and pump instead of having to climb up onto the tower
