Hi Lucy, we have just come off Harmony today, we saw you a few times, and came to watch Josh’s diamond talk one day. We’ve been following your channel for a few years and couldn’t believe it when we saw you walking around! We would have come say hi, but the shop always looked busy when we passed and the moment didn’t seem right for a stranger to come in and have a chat. Anyway, have an amazing time on Harmony, and a nice cruise to Galveston, we look forward to watching your vlogs again!
I have an easy hint for you so you won't have trouble getting your laundry/storage stool open. Get either a long ribbon or a piece of cording (or thin rope) that's either the width (or length) of the stool. Lay it under the lid, across the width (or length) of the open space...leaving both ends hanging out. All you need to do to lift the lid is pull the ribbon/cord up (you might need to knot one end so it can't slip out the other end as you're lifting). So easy. You can use this on anything that has a lid that fits in like this...even small boxes or containers. Hope you try it and let us know if it works for you. :)
Lucy, thanks for another nice-n-informative video. I'll add this one to your last two, and have a short marathon for my Mom later today! Also looking forward to a ship-tour. 😀 Good you brought drawer dividers, but you forgot the shoe hanger (and cannot get your hard luggage under the bed), just proves you're human (and honest!). Take care sweetie and Fair winds to you and Josh! Hey, CONGRATS on 60,000 subs!!! Woo Woo! 😀
@@CruisingAsCrew Mom's ok (still going at 102)...she did say that your new hair color "makes you look like a different girl", and that you are "talking way too fast". 😀 Sorry, I didn't say so earlier, your hair does looks nice! But remember here on YT you don't have to "sell" us, so you can talk a bit slower. Ha Ha 😀Fair winds to you both!
Hello you two. It did not take you long for you to put up a new video. You two you both made our cruise enjoyable. You are so cute together. I really enjoyed seeing your cabin and how you live. What I learned on my first cruise is go up on the deck, take a book and put your swimsuit on and enjoy the sea, air and not be there for every drawing. I felt like a stocker❤. Now I’m going to go and look at you UA-cam life. Get lots of rest.
Okay before you start, I just want to say how happy I am for you to have found a mate ❤ truly. He looks like a nice guy, not that I am trying to be your grandma or anything, but he looks like he cares. ❤ I wish you both love and happiness ❤
Great video, now I know how my friend on Allure lives. Hope you are still on Harmony, and if you are welcome to Galveston, today11/1/23. We sail on Harmony December 3rd, and hope to see you on board. This will be our second sailing on Harmony. Our first time was December 2016, so we are excited to sail on her again. Also glad Harmony is now ported in Galveston. Although we will miss Allure and our friend. She definitely has been having a hard time adjusting to ship life. She just started her second contract this past October. Again, We hope to see you on board in December.
It’s good that the line is ok with doubling up with boyfriend 😅 it makes things a lot easier. Although I have heard that some lines find interesting crew relationships are an no no. I suppose it’s similar to if your line is a dry ship line or not too. Dry ship so no alcohol can’t be much fun if it’s a long stint at sea 🌊 What about cabin inspections, how does that work? What’s contraband etc 😊
Lovely to see you Lucy you made your cabin as cosy as possible 😜 Hope your both settling in enjoy your Time on Harmony of the seas . Take care 🫶have a Good week🥰
Lucy enjoy you videos, don't think I would ever be crew but your adventures are fascinating just the same On our last cruise with NCL, strangest placement of a phone was next to toilet, since it was cramped space I kept hitting it off the hook by accident , surprised it wasn't more secure to hang up on a ship but noticed when you put your phone back it appeared pretty loose on the base too. Enjoy you adventure you will never be at this place in your life again
I was working at ncl on the shops aswell and my cabin was something like this, it was so depressing. The hangers thing is true, they come very handy when you are in a rush wich is pretty much all the time.
Jordan Bauth, an ice skater onboard Royal Caribbean, is rooming with her boyfriend also. Their contracts didn't start together and they have different jobs onboard the ship. She also has a You Tube channel.
I have a question about the tipping. Does the crew really get the money? I figured the amount passengers pay and what you should get is $148 a day added to your base salary. Do you receive anywhere near that amount and if you don't should it be better for us not pay that to the crouse line and pay the staff that helps us get the money directly from the passengers.
Lucy, a bit off topic, but you said embarkation was in Florida yet the Royal Caribbean website says Harmony of the Seas takes off from Gaveston Tx. What's the story on that?
Question: How do you get mail, and when do you have time to pick it up if it’s at a post office? When you mentioned you were getting Amazon, it made me think about the logistics of getting packages.
There's an address that Royal Has in the ships home port. She puts her name and she ship name as well. She can pick up her packages on turn around day.
Ha. I would not wear a tie on a cruise. I would need a big tv in my bed. Where's the window or door for the balcony? Yeah, they'd have to pay me six figures per contract to work on a boat. I heard you said it was pretty small. Poor Josh, and, well, you too!!
Well, yes Lucy did talk about this (in some detail)...Lucy and Josh both work as "port/shopping ambassadors" on-board (and in port?) their new ship, Harmony of the Seas. Earlier this year, Harding lost the contract for the retail shops on Virgin Voyages, so during their transition to a new contractor Lucy was accepted to work for the new contractor, Starboard, and she was planning on transferring to their new ship (Resilient Lady)....when, at the same time, she was recruited for this new position, by a completely different company. She accepted that job offer and was sent to Bahamas for training / orientation for a month or so. But, while they had originally told her she was to join a Royal Caribbean ship, when she finished training, the only opening they had available was on another cruise line, that had a severe (and unreasonable) restriction of crew videoing / vlogging, so she couldn't even say what ship, nor what cruise line, nor where she was sailing to, nor any details at all about her job, life, etc. etc. Then, about a month ago, her transfer request was granted as they had an opening on another ship (Harmony of the Seas) which she really wanted to work on....and, somewhere in there Josh was also in the mix of getting his training and being accepted to work with her on this new ship, so they joined Harmony together, both working the same job, for the same contract. So, while she struggled through a couple months of "no vlogging" on that other cruise line, it looks like Lucy and Josh are now working the jobs they want to do, on a ship they've wanted to work on for a while....so things seem to be going-good! Hope this clarifies things and brings you up-to-date?
Fernando, there should be plenty of outlets for your laptop, and the cabin isn't big enough for you to be that far away from an outlet. But, NO you CANNOT bring your "power bar" on-board. Since electrical system (ground and neutral) on-board is different than on land, there have been fires on-board some ships (merchant ships, not cruse ships) caused by "surge-suppressing" power-strips / power-bars, and as such USCG now forbid these devices on US-flagged commercial vessels and just about all ship lines and cruise lines (even though most are not US-flagged) have also forbid these on-board. And, since it is too time consuming (and many times too difficult) to assess what components/devices a particular unit has inside, for safety reasons all cruise lines simply forbid all extension cords, power-strips, etc. on-board!! Most cruise lines / ship lines have "approved" products/devices for their guests/passengers if they need them, and I assume you could purchase something like that from the ship/cruise line, but please do not try to bring one on-board (it will be confiscated and throw in the trash on-shore). This is a VERY important safety issue, and if you're joining to work in engineering dept on-board you'll understand this. Hope this helps? Fair winds!
Lucy did talk about this (in some detail), and I just answered this here yesterday. Lucy and Josh both now work as "port/shopping ambassadors" on-board (and in port?) their new ship, Harmony of the Seas, but just like she has been doing all along (for the past ~ 9 years), she works for a contracting company not directly for the cruise line. So, while she struggled through a couple months of "no vlogging" on that other cruise line, it looks like Lucy and Josh are now working the jobs they want to do, on a ship they've wanted to work on for a while....so things seem to be going-good! I hope that clarifies things?
Tammy, I hope Lucy or someone else from the UK will jump in here, but until then I might be some tiny bit of help? BTW, I'm not a UK citizen....born in the USA, so guess I'm one of those "bloody colonists", ha ha. My guess is the reason you're confused is the same reason we here in US are confused by our tax laws, because they are written by tax lawyers whose purpose is to obfuscate/obscure. While it appears that UK citizens working as seafarers and are outside of the UK for 183 days out of any 365 day period (and not returning for more than 182 days in a row?) can file HS205 and have 100% of their income exempted? I have also seen there were other rules /exemptions that allow seafarers (or any UK citizen working outside of the UK) whose income is below a certain amount (~ 12,750£ ?), to also have their income exempt? (although I'm not sure if this still applies?) Please spend some time on the HMRC website and read it over and over... But, if you cannot make sense out of the UK's HMRC website and all their rules, forms, etc., I suggest you either use one of the seafarer tax form/service preparers there in UK (or online), or talk to one of your local UK tax form preparers where you live on-shore, and let them help (yes, this will cost you some money, but unless you can figure it out or someone here from the UK can help you, this might be your best option) I do hope this helps you some?
FYI, on her most recent ship (where she couldn't vlog or share much detail), she was in a double / large cabin due to her "rank"/"position" on-board that cruise line (they gave her that cabin because of her position). On the Virgin Voyages ships, she was in a single-occupancy crew cabin (which make up about 2/3's of the crew cabins on-board Virgin ships), that was assigned again based on her position/job/rank. Hope this explains things?
Good afternoon Lucy, just wanna let you know that I love you I love your videos and I love your contact Cara but I must say this I don’t know what you did your hair but girl you are beautiful simply beautiful. They did a wonderful job on their I saw the video and yeah I love the color I almost didn’t recognize you at the beginning but I took a second I said, wait a minute that Lucy, oh my God, flat out sexy you have a beautiful day and I look forward to your new video in the future. Take care of yourself and yes you are working on my favorite cruise ship. Love you girl take care be safe.
Lucy how do I get onto a cruise ship as a deck hand I'm coming out of the fishing industry and I'd like to work for royal.but failed my interview I dont know why my recruiter cant tell why I failed
Theo, I'm hesitant to make any assumptions as to your specific situation. And, for clarity, I do not work in the cruise industry. But, speaking in generalities, the cruise ship industry is very conscience of and stresses 3 important things above all else: 1- Safety 2- Professionalism and good image 3- Perfect communications (in English) Even for deck crew, that are almost never seen by cruise passengers, these 3 criteria are highly regarded in the cruise industry. In the fishing industry, their priorities are a bit different. Yes they are also interested in safety, but usually their number one criteria is ability / willingness to work long hours (even beyond the IMO max limits), and they couldn't care less about appearance / image, rather just need you to know and "do" your job without question. And while good communications is sometimes important, many able-bodied crew on ocean fishing vessels have limited English (I have tried to speak to them myself). Secondarily, the cruise ship industry is watched/observed/inspected very tightly, and making sure that their crew's training / certificates are valid/up-to-date is always a hiring criteria, but these tend to be less enforced by many in the int'l fishing industry. (to all my fellow mariners, I apologize if some in the fishing industry feel insulted by these observations, and I'm not saying that a majority of the fishing fleets are run in a haphazard way, but some are....and they do get a bad reputation is some quarters) So, maybe some of what I write here will help? Maybe it's a perception the cruise industry has, even it it is false they may have a perception that "fishermen" are unsafe, or are not "professional"? Of course, it may also be a language issue, if English is not your first language then I suggest Babble...it will help. (as will watching American TV programs) And, since the cruise industry uses image as much as reality, use this to your advantage, perhaps wear a uniform in your interview and/or professional clothing, etc. Theo, I'm not sure if I'm helping you, but that's the best I can offer you here. Good luck and Fair winds!
@@captainjohn49 well thank you sir ..English is my first language and I have been trained by best..my appearance should be a problem as well.i went dress very smartly to the interview and all my stcw certificates are up to date.my recruiter told me to apply for the artistic painting job of which I have zero knowledge.during the interview I changed to assistant electrician of which I have 2 years experience on a submarine and 7 years on the latest stern trawlers so safety was our no1 priority at Irvin and Johnson deepsea trawlers
Also I'm rank top of my class in communication and coms 1 (morsecode)and long range radio including electronic navigation for deepsea fishing vessels and safety officer.
Theo you sound like a perfect candidate. So, I have no clue what the issue might be. Sorry, I'm not of any help. ☹ Since you mentioned "recruiter", I mistakenly assumed you were from the developing world (where recruitment agencies run the show). Sorry about that! But, the good news is that I can offer one piece of possibly helpful info....that is to apply to the cruise line(s) directly. Yes, it will take more time/effort, but many will fill many of their higher level jobs directly. Secondly, a personal recommend will almost always get you a preferred placement in line....so, perhaps make friends with existing deck and bridge crew on some cruise ships and then (after 6 - 12 months) ask for a personal recommend, it may work well for you? I hope this helps? Fair winds and good luck! Btw, my best friend's son is a USN sonar chief on a missile boat....he's made a career out of it, and says he might not even leave after his 20, which I think is coming up in a couple years....any way, submariners have my full respect my friend.... (as for me...I sail, you know "sail" with wind, not diesel...guess that doesn't work under water, huh? ha ha)
@@captainjohn49 thank you so much sir.but I think I'll pass on cruise ships and rather go forward with the merchants shipping industry because I'm at the at of 38 years old now..
|| Can Someone Help Please || , I am about to join MSC Cruises, the company I am working with required me to get what they called lifetime insurance, additional to the travel insurance I have , I checked with couple banks and agency , no one understands what i am talking about , Note : I am in Morocco ,
I haven't heard of this term either. But, I'm wondering if this is some sort of "life insurance"? Perhaps payable to this company, if you die while on contract? Possibly to allow them to pay to have your remains handled and repatriated to Morocco (although this would usually be covered under other insurance here in US, but maybe this is not the case there?)? Sorry if I'm not of any help, but these are my best guesses.
As I just wrote above, Lucy has talked about this in detail....but, in brief: Lucy and Josh both work as "port/shopping ambassadors" on-board (and in port?) their new ship, Harmony of the Seas. [So, she was RECRUITED for this job] But, while they had originally told her she was to join a Royal Caribbean ship, when she finished training, the only opening they had available was on another cruise line, that had a severe (and unreasonable) restriction of crew videoing / vlogging, so she couldn't even say what ship, nor what cruise line, nor where she was sailing to, nor any details at all about her job, life, etc. I know, I know, it's a LOT....but, it was/is complicated.... So, I hope this answers the question? 😀 And, fyi, Lucy has Career Guides on her website with lots of details about "how-to" get a job on a cruise ship....and, one of her comments over the years has been "once you get a job on-board, it's easier to transfer to other departments, etc. than it is to get those jobs first"....(I have no experience with this, but it does make sense)
just like college dorms -- they do it when the other is not there ... the other person, if they are not working --- goes somewhere else for a period of time

Fair winds!
How about nursing jobs in ship . How to know that I got job since I am from India..

Why did you leave Virgin voyages ? And joined RC any particular reason?
Lucy did talk about this (in some detail), and I just answered this here yesterday. Lucy and Josh both now work as "port/shopping ambassadors" on-board (and in port?) their new ship, Harmony of the Seas, but just like she has been doing all along (for the past ~ 9 years), she works for a contracting company not directly for the cruise line.
But, while they had originally told her she was to join a Royal Caribbean ship, when she finished training the only opening they had available was on another cruise line, that had a severe (and unreasonable) restriction of crew videoing / vlogging, so she couldn't even say what ship, nor what cruise line, nor where she was sailing to, nor any details at all about her job, life, etc.
I hope that clarifies things?

Do you have to do your own tax returns with HMRC? I’ve read lots of different things online regarding seafarers tax and am a bit confused
But, if you cannot make sense out of the UK's HMRC website and all their rules, forms, etc., I suggest you either use one of the seafarer tax form/service preparers there in UK (or online), or talk to one of your local UK tax form preparers where you live on-shore, and let them help (yes, this will cost you some money, but unless you can figure it out or someone here from the UK can help you, this might be your best option)
I do hope this helps you some?
Your cabin seems a lot smaller than you had on your previous ship. Was that because of COVID?
FYI, on her most recent ship (where she couldn't vlog or share much detail), she was in a double / large cabin due to her "rank"/"position" on-board that cruise line (they gave her that cabin because of her position).
On the Virgin Voyages ships, she was in a single-occupancy crew cabin (which make up about 2/3's of the crew cabins on-board Virgin ships), that was assigned again based on her position/job/rank.
Hope this explains things?

HI Lucy, what job does Josh have on ship?
We are both Shopping Ambassadors x
I like you both ❤
How to get job on cruise ship I am a registered nurse in India.. please help me..
Yo Lucy. I've got an interesting question. Do you get free toilet paper or do you have to buy your own?
it is provided and has to be a special kind to be compatible with the plumbing on the ship. Using regular TP can block the plumbing
It's freeeee woop wooo ha ha
Lucy how do I get onto a cruise ship as a deck hand I'm coming out of the fishing industry and I'd like to work for royal.but failed my interview I dont know why my recruiter cant tell why I failed
Theo, I'm hesitant to make any assumptions as to your specific situation.
And, for clarity, I do not work in the cruise industry.
But, speaking in generalities, the cruise ship industry is very conscience of and stresses 3 important things above all else:
1- Safety
2- Professionalism and good image
3- Perfect communications (in English)
Even for deck crew, that are almost never seen by cruise passengers, these 3 criteria are highly regarded in the cruise industry.
(to all my fellow mariners, I apologize if some in the fishing industry feel insulted by these observations, and I'm not saying that a majority of the fishing fleets are run in a haphazard way, but some are....and they do get a bad reputation is some quarters)
So, maybe some of what I write here will help?
Maybe it's a perception the cruise industry has, even it it is false they may have a perception that "fishermen" are unsafe, or are not "professional"?
Of course, it may also be a language issue, if English is not your first language then I suggest Babble...it will help. (as will watching American TV programs)
And, since the cruise industry uses image as much as reality, use this to your advantage, perhaps wear a uniform in your interview and/or professional clothing, etc.
Since you mentioned "recruiter", I mistakenly assumed you were from the developing world (where recruitment agencies run the show).
|| Can Someone Help Please || , I am about to join MSC Cruises, the company I am working with required me to get what they called lifetime insurance, additional to the travel insurance I have , I checked with couple banks and agency , no one understands what i am talking about ,
Note : I am in Morocco ,
I haven't heard of this term either.
@@captainjohn49 thank you, I believe it's something closer to that
Hi 👋
How did you get the job?
As I just wrote above, Lucy has talked about this in detail....but, in brief:
Lucy and Josh both work as "port/shopping ambassadors" on-board (and in port?) their new ship, Harmony of the Seas.

So, while she struggled through a couple months of "no vlogging" on that other cruise line, it looks like Lucy and Josh are now working the jobs they want to do, on a ship they've wanted to work on for a while....so things seem to be going-good!
I know, I know, it's a LOT....but, it was/is complicated....
So, I hope this answers the question? 😀
And, fyi, Lucy has Career Guides on her website with lots of details about "how-to" get a job on a cruise ship....and, one of her comments over the years has been "once you get a job on-board, it's easier to transfer to other departments, etc. than it is to get those jobs first"....(I have no experience with this, but it does make sense)
Fun fact, when my room mate disembarked I chose to stay on the top bed because this is wear I feel more comfortable 😂
That room makes me sad😢
Me too ha ha
Doesn’t seem a good idea to have a relationship at work
Not trying to be gross, but how do roommates deal with their fellow roommates having sex in such a small space??
just like college dorms -- they do it when the other is not there ... the other person, if they are not working --- goes somewhere else for a period of time
Hey lucy, but how do you manage to have sex on a bunk bed??🤔🤔
Good grief. Has this now turned into the boyfriend / girlfriend show?
Yes…boring!
