Really helpful to me, been servicing my bikes for years and I'm starting to get interested in building my own bike. You really take the anxiety away, I feel I could do it :-)
Hey Mikey, I absolutely love your videos! They have all been very informative and will help guide me as I begin my journey on building my k1100RS. I really hope the k100 and k1100 have very similar if not identical components that way there is a lesser chance of me messing up! I am anxious to start cutting up the harness but feel more comfortable after watching your videos. Thank you!
Hey Luis ! Glad you enjoyed the videos ! Unfortunately the K100 and the K1100 have different wiring looms ! I have not worked on an 1100 so I can't help you very much sorry .... but good luck with your build! All the best 👍
@@mikeyfrompiha Update: I think my fuel tank sensor was different as well, so I cut some of the sensors that I suspect are the one (fuel tank is at a shop being painted so I can't conclude it at the moment). Aside from that, moving on to the next couple of videos. Thank you for this resource!
looking to buy a headlight for my 85 k100 cafe racer project, what is your recommendation? Also, I really appreciate this series! I would be super lost without it
Hi never rewired a bike before followed you on your k100 I'm doing k750c bmw with mo unit blue but still useing original handle bar wiring can't get killer switches to work also blue wire on alternate when put in ignition lock bike turn over any advice would be welcome cheers Phil
Confident cuts Mikey. How's that neutral switch holding up on yours ?? And did your bother with the clutch safety switch ?? Was just gonna hook up the ground to the starter relay on mine, but wasn't sure on the stop/start button on the bars
Hello Jamie , neutral switch is working fine so far , admittedly I have only done about 2000k's of riding but so far so good , I didn't bother with the clutch switch but would be easy to wire in , you would need to wire it into an aux input on the m unit and program that input or like you say in with the starter relay , you cannot wire it in series with the start button as when you want to do the "double click" to stop the bike you would have to have the clutch pulled in .
Excellent video here! Would love to strip my cables like this But I have a problem. How can I apply this method with the Maru Lab BEP 3.0 Lunchbox ? Do you have any guidance for this?
Would i be able to keep my original speedometer? I bought my 86 k75 with the m unit blue and wire kit, and would like to keep the original speedometer.
Hello Jerome , we (the bike owner and me) think that some one else has had a go or something to this bike before us , we found all sorts of weird things done to it when we stripped it down , including the coolant fan was not connected , the fan wiring did not have the matching plug that was on the loom it had a couple of spade terminals instead but it wasn't connected ??!! But you get top points for the eagle eyed observation !
I was cutting out old I used wires on my bike like the abs stuff and radio etc and now when I flip the kill switch it does not do anything any idea for what to look for ?
I love your videos mate. I just wish you would be more informative when you talk instead of saying we´ll keep "this one" and lets keep "that one" 3:50 for example, this badboy you decide to keep, what is it? I dont mean to sound entitled, grateful for anyone who makes videos that are helpful to someone embarking on a project for the first time, so my comment is just feedback from a viewer :) Thanks for the videos!
@@mikeyfrompiha yeah you´re right, i just forgot it. that wire loom seems overwhelming, but watching through your process and especially once you start wireing up the munit it became very much more understandable! Started watching your series about Helga now, and getting ready for my own winter project having a source like yours to view is priceless, cannot thank you enough!

Excellent video! Keep'em coming, extremely informative to understand the wiring on the bike. I am looking into doing something similar. Thanks!
Thank you , glad you enjoyed the video !
where did you plug the neutral switch from the transmission?
Thank you so much sir!
Fantastic!Thank's
Hi Mikey, Did you come across the BMW K100 gearbox "gear" selector cable and connection in that loom you stripped?
Sos un capó !!!!!
Nice video, keep them coming 👍🍻

Glad you like the vids , can't beat the Koso headlight
Just in time for this, I just disassembled mine and wanted to tackle the wiring first because it’s probably the most time consuming one.
Cool well keep tuned ,more to come
mikeyfrompiha looking forward to it! I’d imagine it will be largely the same hooking it up to the m-unit blue?

Sorry , i dont really have much to do with wiring these bikes any more , i am sure there is someone out there who has used the old original bars

Hi Mikey, With the Munit do we need the Fuel injection relay?
No its not really needed , just an extra thing to complicate things
Excellent video here! Would love to strip my cables like this But I have a problem. How can I apply this method with the Maru Lab BEP 3.0 Lunchbox ? Do you have any guidance for this?
Hello there , sorry i have no experience with the BEP unit
It’s ok man. Still love watching this. It really helped me to stripped out my whole harness to organise it. So it still helps me a lot. 🤘🏻
Where do you live? We in germany have to have lights for neutral and low/highbeam. Is your build also showing this lights?
Hello , i live in New Zealand , and yes build has those lights, it is a requirement to have them in this country also
Would i be able to keep my original speedometer? I bought my 86 k75 with the m unit blue and wire kit, and would like to keep the original speedometer.
if you keep your original speedo then keep everything else
As you are keeping the fan control relay (just like me 😁), I think you might need to grab the fan power supply/connector from the garbage bin? 😁
What year ? What model? I am only familiar with the early K100's , you might just have to retrace your steps ?
mikeyfrompiha 1993 k1100lt and I have tried to go back and retrace my steps but nothing I have tried has worked
