  • In February 1134, the Xianren Path located between Sichuan and Shaanxi Provinces became the site of conflict between the Jin Dynasty and the Song Dynasty. General Wu Jie and his troops were guarding the path from attack by the Jin Dynasty who already occupied half of the Chinese territory.
The ancient Chinese were very good at inventing and developing many new tools and weapons. They developed a large number of different weapons which were used to fight many wars throughout Chinese history. These ancient Chinese weapons are what gave Chinese people the power to unify such a large country.

It's really interesting to see the difference in the philosophy of crossbows between the East and West. European crossbows had much stiffer arms with a higher draw weight but shorter draw length, where as Chinese ones were much lighter but used a longer draw length to compensate and get more power, more similar to the ancient Greek gastrophetes, or belly bow.

I don’t think the god’s arm bow they mentioned is considered “light” when soldiers aren’t expected to be able to draw it with their arms

@@duyhungle9375 they still took like less than 10 seconds for each draw, while European crossbows took like 22-40 seconds for each draw using spanning device

I think they would've also worn thick cloth underneath the armour which also would've provided extra protection against the arrows that did manage to go through the gaps or hit the holes in the plates

Not only they worn thick cloth underneath the armor, but such garment was also made out of silk.

How heavy were arrows tested? Heavier arrows would have greater anti armor effect.

90 gram would not be far fetched.

This "Iron Tower" armor sounds alot like Sassanid Persian or Late Roman clibanari or cataphract armor.

China had been using lamillar well before the Roman empire existed. Cataphracts in China existed well before they did in Rome. I don't get why everyone needs to somehow reference things back to the Roman empire.
