    Does the DSP have both digital in & out (SPDIF or EBU) in order to avoid double conversion? or at lest digital in? (at what clock?)

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  Рік тому +1

      The Jubilee DSP has Balanced and unbalanced ins and outs with XLR and RCA. If you go to Klipsch's website, you can download the manual which has an image of the back of the DSP which shows you all ins and outs.

      My thoughts exactly.
      Why not digital direct in?

    I'm 40 minutes from hope, could it be arranged to just pick some up there?

    • @TopShelfAudio
      @TopShelfAudio  2 роки тому +2

      While the Klipsch plant is in Hope, I'm not sure they are selling these direct. Give Cory a call on the main PHT line and talk it over with him. I'm sure you guys can work something out.

    Could you test using a La Scala as a center channel in a future video for 3 channel or home theater purposes?

    Haha! I listen to recordings of vinyl through lossless digital! There are reasons. For one, particular equipment imparts particular nuance to the sound. I use a full-spectrum spectrogram I programmed in Foobar, and I can literally see the changes the vinyl .flac recordings have in contrast to their digital counterparts. The transients tent to be bigger and faster both, in vinyl. The "warmth" that people often cite referring to vinyl, is also visible in the spectrogram in the form of a fatter (more distorted) bandwidth of both root notes played as well as corresponding harmonics. In other words, the low end is literally both faster and fatter without being louder. On top of that, these recordings often soften the top end--usually far more than I want it softened--even sometimes to the extent of total loss. The first thing that comes to mind is Black Moon by Wilco, where there are all kinds of intricate sounds totally lost simply because they're above 5kHz. Another reason to listen to lossless vinyl is the same reason people create the recording to begin with: to preserve a new record while it's clean and pristine.
    Anyway, thanks for all the content recently, you guys. I'm a producer too, and I just have to say how clever I thought those edits were when you listen, super cool pacing idea. Anyway . . . I live in south-central MO, and I have plans to come pick out something from the Heritage line, although not for a couple more years. Looking forward to it though! Keep up the good work!

      Thanks for watching, as well is for your insight on the vinyl portion we discussed. For me personally I have different rooms that have different setups. 90% of the time its about ease of access while remaining great sounding. not necessarily perfect but, still great. Streaming kills it at this. For the studio though (the other 10%) I like to vary it up and test the subtle differences and nuances. If you're not constantly trying new things and getting out of your comfort zone, I feel like you'll never know your true preference. Let us know when you'd like to come scope some out in person. We would be happy to assist!

      90% of vinyl IS digital, cut from a digital source as low as 16-14 bit, going all the way back to 1979,
      since then they used the "cutting computer", fancy word for digital delay line which saves needing the custom analog tape loop delay on the custom Studer,
      enjoy listening to someone else's DAC haha
      Vinyl simply ads distortion, noise, wow and flutter, which can be added by software, vinyl, audio BS from the stone age, its low fi

    why not use a AK6 bass bin for that center channel?

    • @TopShelfAudio

      Would lean more toward the LS unless building a custom wall for the KH. Less reliant on corners.

    Bel Canto and Wyred4sound, both of which I have owned, have had 1/2 width mono blocks for YEARS

      That’s cool. But Wyred4sound didn’t even form until 2007. Cyrus aka. Mission Electronics came up with this design in the early to mid 80’s. Cyrus is the O.G. of the half width chassis design. :)

      To add to Cory's comment, google search some of the early Mission gear. Its pretty awesome stuff.

      @@TopShelfAudio that's the understatement of the year. They are treating everyone well. The percentage of people who've heard them and want to listen/watch something more is almost 100%. I'm tempted to take reservations for the second season of Foundation, Dune Part II, the new lord of the rings series etc.
