What a fabulous western. The professional critics seem to slate it for the improbability of the plot but who cares? The Colt revolver had only six shots but who cares? Who doesn't - just for a moment - fancy himself as Ruble Noon, the man who knows how to handle himself? I love the almost comedic incoherence of this. We've lost so much with our demand to have reality creep into our entertainment. Of course 6 shots is the maximum load in a Colt single action, but the movie guns always had 12 when I was young. I was fascinated to learn that Lewis and Clark carried Sharps rifles...but I don't really care. I am busy envying the cabin and its 20 acres. I am also in awe of the double action single action revolver that Fan Davidge uses to despatch the evil Peggy Cullane. Of course its full of silliness...I enjoyed it.
