Here’s a little something you should definitely look into one day. I bought a 64GB iPhone XS for about AU$300 (listed as a X) 3 months ago. The back glass is cracked, and the charging port doesn’t work, as one of the pins in the port is broken (headphones still work though). After it arrived I looked into replacing the port, and found out that Apple put some thermal sensor on the charging port flex for the iPhone X onwards. Most aftermarket ports don’t have this, so if you put one of them on a phone running iOS 13 or later, it’ll restart every 3 minutes. And on iOS 14, the phone will be very laggy as well. Some people online said “premium OEM” replacements worked for them, so I bought one for roughly AU$20, but it had those exact problems. Apparently one aftermarket port that doesn’t work on one phone may work on another. I’m trying to look for a cheap iCloud locked phone, or maybe even a used housing with an OEM port still in it. For now, I’m stuck with wireless charging as the only way to charge it...
I rocked my old iPhone 6S Plus for 1,200 cycles on it‘s original battery. After good six years it still lived through my day (even with up to 6h screen time). Hugh, When you remove and reinstall the water/dust resistance seal it goes good? still possible to get ip68 water resistance or we cant trust in the phone waterproofing again?
From experience the water proof seal that apple uses is much stronger than the one any repair uses. In regards of the back glass removal process, you can do it without the laser machine. All you’d need is a hot air gun and a tool to pry all the glass off the back.
Great video Hugh 😃
The laser machine is so cool. Kinda reminds me of what a villain would use to torture/kill the good guy while explaining his dastardly plan before being thwarted by the good guy.
Too bad the good guy can’t die because plot shield...
@@tan-vr4ds sometimes the good guy dies though but not in this case
That pixelated Apple logo looks awesome tbh
I know this is an old video and you likely already have your answer... but the problem with the pixilation is due to the file type most likely not being vector. The text will always be vector though, which is why it came out perfect. To make it a vector file, you will need to use a program like Adobe illustrator first
