Very much in the tradition of the great Sonny Payne. Stunning, dazzling technique and chops. Musicality. Originality. And Just incredibly entertaining to watch!
Lee,you play in a beautiful musical way, you really have your own story to tell and I notice that I am not listening to the drums but your own melodic expression, so lee my compliments to you, i am learning every second by using the ears, i am thankfull for that, god bless you
I thought his whole getup and the heart he played with is also reminiscent of Joe Morello. Same suit and tie. Big thick glasses. Sort of a tribute/homage to what went before, which is what all the great ones seem to do. It's the guy in coke-bottle glasses and the suit and tie that ya gotta watch out for! Another reason I thought Joe Morello is because he kept the crowd in it, and not just with theatrics, but with a beat they could feel and rhythms they could relate to. Just a lot more heart than yet another "I can play really fast" you get from some drummers, without the long solo taking you anywhere. Ya gotta bring it down to bring it up. Only thing I would fault is the mic for the hand-held, which was hard to hear, so I missed a lot of that part of the performance.
A ridiculous remark he’s coordinate like most percussionist but this guy can’t keep time. Think about any solo you want to do and run at different speeds stop and do a little gimmick stop and do another at high or low speed. He’s entertaining but definitely not great at all. Look at Louie Belson, Joe Morello, Krupa, carter Beauford, Rich,
Great creative drummer. Kid you not Lee Pearson listened to a lot of Max Roach. Why do I say that? Lee has a melodic enhancement of his drumming. Lots of Max Roach ideas along with good dynamics. thank you for posting greatness in drumming.
Ok I'm a fan of this man here I really have been enjoying the vids of his solos very masterful at his craft i am just starting out exploring the drums myself I can only wish at this point in my horny to be a fraction of the drummer he is

Not only is this an unprecendented virtuoso drum performance but the creative genius contained within is OUTSTANDING!

He is mind boggling!!! Phenomenal drummer!!!
I defy anyone to beat this man's showmanship on the drums. Truly a Master.
Talk about inspired, Lee Pearson puts the fun back in to drumming. I can foresee a whole generation of trickster drummers coming up behind him.
Greatest soloist ever....and I've heard them all.
