Elliott: "It's got a lot piano:" Interviewer: "I've heard of the piano." Elliott: "Yea, you've heard of it? It's a pretty famous instrument." I love him 😂❤️
Omg I almost started crying when I heard Elliott start playing Happiness after saying he wrote it last week and that this was the world premier of this song. This is one of my favorites of him and it was just a really sweet moment. I really wish that I could have seen Elliott live. I would do anything to go back and see him perform even just one song
This is my 3rd year being into Elliott Smith heavily and XO has grew on me immensely. Ive grown to appreciate his accoustic work on the album dude could have 8 fingers on each hand and id be convinced
Thank you so much. I’m always elated when I find something of Elliott’s that I haven’t heard before. His music has helped me cope with several significant tragedies in my life and besides that, it’s so beautiful and interesting.
At 11.35 minutes in, when Elliott apologizes and says "Im kind of out of it" moments after he perfectly delivers Bottle Up and Explode 🤯 What a prodigy. I truly hope Elliott can rest in whatever realm he's in now 😢
01:47 Independence Day 04:58 Happiness/The Gondola Man(‘Back in the day’) 09:00 Bottle up and explode 12:00 Everybody cares, Everybody understands 15:40 Oh well, OK
I remember listening to Drinking From Puddles every Wednesday night and The Church of NW Music... Sundays I believe. Heard so much good stuff through those years!
He wrote son of Sam when he was like 22-23 years old. Heard a demo yesterday on a 4track from 92 I believe and the song was called Shiva opens her arms. And it’s different than Son of Sam, but it has the main intro (minus the piano), plus a few other parts of son of Sam. And it uses some lyrics from last call. lol
It's wild. i don't dive through youtube all that much anymore. but i jumped on here now. and fuckin a, you posted something. thank you. i never got to meet this guy. he changed my life the first couple of times i heard him. i remember my friend playing him for me. i can actually still sorta remember it. im been playing songs of his and writing songs as best i can to meet his bar. it's fucking hard!. i guess that was a hard tangent to say thank you. thank you so much for posting these things. he helped me through so many years. i can honestly say i am alive thanks to his music and some things you've posted. so thank you and please keep his music alive like you do !
There’s a cut at 4:36, and it is documented on the internet Elliott also played a studio track of “Our Thing” between Independence Day and Happiness. I wonder if it’s the same recording without vocals or if it’s a different version.

I love when he sounds chipper like this, his guitar was sounding on point here.

Insane he already had all of Happiness worked out a week before this, and like a couple of years before Figure 8! Incredible. Its such a good song.

What a great way to end the week. Oh Well, OK just brought me somewhere else. So good.
All of these versions are probably my favorite… his voice was just… extra gorgeous that day..!

This has got to be the best sequence of songs I've ever seen
@@errantcondor9349 my thoughts exactly. Interesting how he had ‘Happiness’ completely written way before ‘figure 8’
Best "Oh Well OK" EVER

Crazy that he wrote "Happiness" before XO even came out. Prolific writer
A lot of the songs featured on his albums were written prior to the album. He would just rewrite the lyrics or add instruments

his voice sounds so gorgeous here, thank you so much for uploading
So insanely good
Elliott was singing the top TTS message "jjjjjjjj"

Best Independence Day
Great upload, thanks!!
This is such an incredible live recording!!
I like the host
Omg☹️
Thx 🩷
Can we get the entire session without being sped up?
Apparently you can use a custom speed under playback speed, 0.95 sounds close enough to me.
On 1:36 he says “back for a third time”, are there two more sessions of Elliott on this channel? Would be great to share if anyone has them.
He played a set with Heatmiser on KBOO, AFAIK this and that are the only 2 recordings we have.
