It's so amazing to see her stepping out of her shell. I'll never understand how an Angel could ever doubt her given gift of voice...... She's still got it that's for sure!
I can't express how much I love Liz & her voice. Thank you for sharing this. I'll be ever sad that I wasn't there, but I did get to set CT on the Vegas & Calendar tours, so I can't feel too bad for myself.
We all want to hear the songs like they were sung back in the day, but we are here and now, we're lucky Liz performed at all! And I was lucky to see her at the South Bank centre on the 6th, so I'm grateful.....be lovely to have a new album Liz? Pleeeeeeeeeeeeese
This washed up old fool wants to write something serous and musico-critical about this, but he's sinking back into total "oh-my-sweet-Elizabeth-fuck-me-please"
Contrary to some comments I don't find this rendition lacklustre or disappointing. To me it is a more gentle and fragile rendition. People need to remember that a singer's voice will change either naturally over time or the singing style will need to be adjusted to protect the voice, it is after all their means of expression and living. If people want to hear how Liz's voice was in the CT age there are albums to buy.
Shannmeister she's choosing to sing this way. She could probably still reach but she just isn't interested in putting out that much effort. Good on her for not hanging on like nearly everyone else.
I love this rendition. She has said in the past that she was going to be more gentle with her voice and that the CT days were like an endurance test singing against the wall of sound Robin Guthrie created.
yeah probably it's not a question of "effort" but simply an artistical choice..she wants to sing like this now..she feels the songs in the way...well i prefer by far her old "shouting" way of singing...anyway she's always gigantic!!
I think you were the only person at Bath Pavillion who was disappointed, the rest of us were crying and flopping around on the floor. ;-) Critics liked or loved the shows too by the way, in every review I've seen.
It’s her song, she can interpret it anyway she wants. No one asks an artist to paint the same picture every time they stand in front of their canvas..!
If Elizabeth Fraser lacks confidence in her abilities, what chance have the rest of us got? Every live performance on here shows how proficient and professional she is. Come on Lizzie - step up to the mark, believe in yourself and release an album.
her voice is subdued, though still quite beautiful both the mixing and the backing band - particularly the drums - are off, dirty sounding, and overpowering her lovely voice.
Were you there? It sounds like a lacklustre performance, but to have been in the same room was indescribable. How long had we waited to hear CT songs live???? I forgave her everything the night I was there. There is just no comparison when you're there in person, and then watching videos on YT.
I'm a huge CT fan, but yeah tbh this is to me nowhere near the older stuff. I really wish she wouldn't be so afraid to go for those power vocals - take Kate Bush and her quite recent live performances, she totally killed it!
not sure why everyone laments Liz lacking some "effort" here. aren't these airy fragile vocals actually harder to perform than her old "emotional shouting" manner? especially in her age. it seems to me that she actually puts more effort into vocals than before. another story is why she chooses to limit her range... her business tho
It was just very very very gentle (see what I did there) I guess it wasn't best that she had what I think were lyrics/music notes in front of her (directional notes as EDF doesn't 'read' music as it has been mentioned many times etc etc ((ad nauseum ;)) sorry for the ad nauseum (as in pitch the baby couldn't resist that either but EDF actually has a great sense of humour am sure she would approve) But heck I know these songs off by heart (almost verbatim or at least what I believe she sang) I wouldnt need it written down so would've hoped she wouldnt but you know hate to say it but some Elizabeth Fraser is always better than none Lacklustre no a bit disappointing maybe but how could it not seem a little strange (I mean A BACKING SINGER SINGING A CRUCIAL PART OF PITCH THE BABY OH NO COULDN'T EDF HAVE PRE RECORDED A BACKING VOCAL FOR THEM TO PLAY But as said a gentler version and I think EDF doesn't have the same anger or dare I say pent up emotions the way she did. I guess time softened her. Maybe she feels differently now and it shows she had some issues our Liz dont forget. But I love love love her always for her voice/all that music she is the ultimate and the best as far as I am concerned Never loked live versions of CT songs in particular but loved seeing her whenever Ive had chance bc like most I am fascinated by her so is my husband and my best friend ( a guy who adores her used to be obsessed and follow their shows around the country in the 80s (nb best friend is much older than me thankfully) Because of my age I didn't hear the cocteaus until blue bell knoll (it and the HOLV album well theyre my faves no matter what ppl say ha!) If you want the best version of all of these songs well they are there on cd (Yeah I still prefer cds to anything) even if Ive just been watching EDF on here. Ah the joys of youtube ppl pop cool vids of EDF on and we all sigh and say yeah but can it match up to those albums/eps? Dont think its meant to they are as perfect as they could be made and a great deal of finessing is done ask any sound engineer (thats not to dispute her voice because I love her voice far and away beyond all others (including LizaG) NB DCD fans please don't come for me!
It's so amazing to see her stepping out of her shell. I'll never understand how an Angel could ever doubt her given gift of voice...... She's still got it that's for sure!
I was there with three friends. 4 men in their 40s all bleary-eyed at the end. Fantastic!
Doesn't matter that you messed up the video - it's more important that you saw it in real life :)
Like Liz' s ode to Scotland..i can feel it's presence.....just brilliant...sin comprar..you feel her joy!
Cheers from Minnesota
Dear Elizabeth... I wish I were there. Beautiful! I can imagine storm of emotions on this concert.

Any live CT post Is a gem to CT fans!!! Thx in a big way!!!
Would so love a better quality recording of this. But grateful to have it at all. Thank you for posting.
No, this video is amazing so appropriate to her style. You captured it beautifully. I too am a lifetime fan. Thank you so much for this.
The voice, you got the voice!
Liz and CT forever!!

Incredible voice. Thank you!!

Shannmeister Agree. This is gorgeous.

THANK YOU!!!

Я люблю тебя, Лиза!

Oh my god is that her daughter next to her at the end? Love it if so!

Is she reading her own lyrics off an iPad?

No.I was at Bath Pavillion though.Very disappointed...
if god is real she sounds like or is Elizabeth Fraser (and im an atheist)

Like the critics,I'm rather disappointed in her rather lacklustre performance.Sorry Liz :(
It was just very very very gentle (see what I did there)
