You have showed that art and talent know no boundaries. Pakistanis have been loving your legend singers, actors, actresses, directors and writers since inception of Bollywood. Nazia Hasan was our star who proved her talent across the world.

Nazia Hasan was a fantastic, fabulous, gorgeous yet simple and an Awesome singer. She had an exceptional voice, loved by all❤❤ Her song aap jaisa koi was a musical hit at that time. Is gaane ne dhoom macha di thi eighties ke daur me. Miss her lovely voice and miss her too. May Allah bless her soul. Ameen.

I had written a post in 2019 on FB about her on her death anniversary . Reproducing it as below;
Nineteen years ago on 13th August 2000 Pakistan’s iconic pop princess Nazia Hassan lost the battle against lung cancer at 35 after a long fight during the last years of her life. Remembering her as she died in August only. Her voice was unconventional and that's perhaps the reason why Nazia Hassan's song 'Disco Deewane' became such an instant hit when it released in 1981. Although she didn't sing too many songs in Hindi films, Nazia is still remembered for her unique style and also for introducing western tunes and DISCO to the entire South Asia.
Nazia was all of fifteen when she did the playback for Zeenat Aman in 'Qurbani'. The song 'Aap Jaisa Koi' became a chartbuster almost instantly.
Nazia was the first Pakistani to win a Filmfare Award and remains the youngest winner of a Filmfare Award in the category of Best Female Playback Singer to date. She won the award when she was 15 years old.
Fans remember Nazia and her brother, Zoheb Hassan, as the sensations that transformed pop culture in the country and made waves at home and abroad, especially across the border.
Her death was a tragic loss for the music industry , her fans n her family in particular. What a sad n tragic end to this talented, compassionate n wonderful person!

I was in school when I heard about her. Nazia Hasan was a favorite😍💕 and I loved her and her voice. God bless🙏. I had her initial Albums and I used to listen to her again and again. Anyway may God bless and grant peace to her beautiful soul.
I Agree with you 100%. I do not think she took her singing career very seriously professionally or commercially. If she would have done that then after the calssical era of Lata ji and Asha ji there would have been a Nazia era.
I still listen to her songs on LP records(Disco Deewane, Young Tarang, Star and Qurbani) and the khanak you mentioned is awe inspiring on LPs!!!

Nazia was so popular in the middle east especially Dubai where I was bought up. Her songs with her brother would always be shown in television those times. I can't remember how old I was may be six or seven but whenever their songs were played I couldn't resist looking at her. She had that wow factor with her voice & her graceful dance steps were charming.

Nazia was a god gifted talented singer. Her voice was really attractive. Her face was very beautiful. But god gave her talent but didn't give her a life span. It was very good to see the photo with great artist kishore kumar. Both sung a song in film Main Balwaan. Thanks Mr. Rahoul for this lovely post.

Nice one! Would have been great if you would have given some information /trivia about Nazia’s hit duet with Kishore Kumar from Main Balwan(1986). The song was featured on Mithun Chakraborty & Meenakshi Sheshadri. I believe this pic was during /after the recoding of ‘No Entry’. One of my fav uptempo song featuring 3 of my fav : Kishore da, Mithun da and Nazia. ❤

I also liked Nazia Hasan as a singer,but unfortunately she was typed as disco artist and could not bring versatility in her songs.During early 80s she was very popular.

My Dad introduced me to Nazia Hasan when I was 6 years old and I used to dance to her song all day. Since I was such a fan of Aap Jaise Koi Nahi song, I also got to watch Qurbani movie at 6 as my father told his friend who were asking them out for the movie to take me instead since I danced all day long to that song. Since I was in Kuwait at that time, Qurbani hadn't got an A certificate as it had got in India and hence we children could get to see it. My older siblings who were in a boarding school in India during the same time were shocked that I got to watch that adult movie, lol. As I grew up and moved back to India with my Mom, my Dad who worked in Kuwait used to gift us cassettes every year he would visit us. While he would get Kishore Kumar, Lata Mangeshkar and Hindi movie albums for my older siblings, he would gift me cassettes of Nazia and Zoheb. My sisters and their friends who were teenagers then would often darken the room and dance to disco songs of Nazia and Zoheb. Oh what fun life was then. I still listen to Nazia and Zoheb songs in my leisure or when I go out for a jog or walk. Never got over Nazia Hassan's painful tragic life and the pain she faced even in her death. God bless this childhood icon in my life. I also relate Nazia to my older sister who was also passionate about singing and had a similar soft nature and beautiful heart like Nazia Hassan but whom I also lost early in life. Happy to know that she was your favorite singer too Rahoul!

She was the hearthrob of many young persons in the 80s..Her voice was very much different from orher singers of that time. It was interesting to learn that she was the youngest playback singer to be honored with Filmfare Award in 1981- 82.
The picture of Nazia accepting the award from the senior & legendary Raj Kapoor is priceless.
On seeing the picture of Nazia with Kishoreda, my thoughts went back in time to what did Nazia say & what was her reaction when she met Kishore Kumar ? & what tips did Kishore Kumar give to Nazia ?
Both of them were talented.
It was also nice to hear that your programme with Radio Mirchi in Amritsar had audiences beyond borders too. Sometimes I feel that some matters should be given to artists to resolve who maybe could do better.
I remember this song "Aap Jaisa Koi"...I was barely 5 years, I was in Bahrain & it was a hit amongst Indians settled there.
Sad to learn that she left the world early...but her voice will continue to ring in our ears & memories for many many years to cone.
