In response to Jerma's conjecture, I actually have had my hand slammed in a car door and there's no need to try to pretend it doesn't hurt, within 60 seconds it stopped hurting and I was laughing because a SHITTON of endorphins get released as a pain response.
I had my hand slammed in a 70s Dodge Dartswinger, solid steel door. I can tell you that it took much longer than 60 seconds for my hand to stop hurting.
