If you think about it this is their bread and butter. A lot more people can afford gear priced like this. It’s in their interest to support it like this
Well done Arturia, I was a Microfreak early adopter and I couldn't believe this announcement. The previous firmware updates had already doubled the value of the device. I can't think of anything in my life that had so much value added after I paid for it. The sampling and granular modes could be a completely worthwhile separate instrument, but you have shown real class by giving it to existing customers. I salute your commitment to this platform, thank you sincerely❤🙏
When I read the news today I thought I had misread it because of the instant added value by adding the new features. I haven't had any other platform or synth add this much extra functionality after the fact.
And what about Digitakt, guys? It's pretty grown too :) I have both and honestly, I'm in love :)) Arturia and Elektron guys deserves some worshipping for this kind of care :))
This is amazing. I am absolutely astonished by this product and that Arturia continues to build onto this platform. I have never been happier. Thank you Arturia!!❤❤❤
I don't often say this to a corporation but thank you very much! How thoughtful! I've been eyeing sample players so this actually solves problems for me.
I bought the Freak on release and every few months it's like I get a whole new synthesizer delivered to my door for free (or in one case, a free vocoder). Absolutely wild stuff.
I literally bought one of these on Tuesday... I was already blown away that Arturia added Vocorder capability with a free update... now I see this?? There is no doubt I made the right choice in my synth purchase. I love it when companies have a long-term view of their products' life cycle. It creates a massive and fiercely loyal fan base...!
I truly do love you guys, Arturia. Please, always stay on the good side of companies. Your continued support of hardware that you have had out for a while as free upgrades is astounding. In today's day and age this is one of my biggest pros with you guys. That and that your software is awesome as well. I own a MicroFreak, V Collecion, and EFX Collection (I cant remember the versions, whatever was available when this was written) and have loved just about everything I have gotten from them. Keep up the great work guys.
This is what I came to say! lol adding CC messages would be great, giving each drum sound its own dedicated swing, creating a default mapping in their vsts, adding bipolar swing
@@suttonp6439 I have not been using them as much lately so I need to remember my gripes, I actually have two KSPs in my setup. Some things that still come to mind. 1. No ability to receive program changes at all. I am kind of surprised that it doesn't have this. Even a limited one that changes all scenes on all 4 tracks would be better than nothing, but it really should be able to receive program changes on a per track basis to move scenes up or down at least. This is a big one for me because I am controlling my setup through an Akai force and there is no way to control the KSPs at all externally. 2. I still have issues with it not saving programs properly, often on booting back up I will find that scenes and patterns were lost even though I am positive I saved program before shutting down. 3. Would like the ability to have it return to the state it was at shutdown rather than it always booting up to program one then needing to remember where I was at shutdown. 4. Would like the ability to set more default settings, for example I would like to be able to set default for "follow" to be on, rather than needing to turn it on every time, for every track, for every scene, every time. super annoying because I prefer "follow" on and I need to turn it on non-stop. 5. as you stated, more CC control would be nice but the priors are more important to me as I have other means to control CCs but it would be nice. 6. Some added arpeggio functionality would be cool. I am sure I could think of more, but my main point is it was sold as a flagship midi controller at the time and received fairly limited love from Arturia after launch. Happy to see them support the micro freak still and think it is awesome what they have done with it. I just wish they could show a bit more love to the KSP, it has been abandoned for a long time now.
best purchase ever. I didn't even expect new updates after minifreak's release. such a banger considering the fact that it has very unique keyboard with MPE-like modulation for each note separately.
This is huge. The granular sounds amazing. The sampler will get handy too. I think I'll be hunting for additional Microfreak. Will be fun having two of them.
So I'll comment on my own thread. Downloaded the firmware and spent about 2-3 days playing with the new 4 engines. Oh my lord, I'm really fascinated with all the possibilities. Now I see why granular is so important for ambient music. Whole new world to me as I'm mainly used to subtractive and fm so far (with small addition of samples). Dowloaded Audacity to create my own samples cutting my recordings, it's so much fun and easier than I thought. Huge thanks to Arturia for improving their products and user experience further. The Microfreak is the most used item of my modest instrument collection. I'm totally your fan and happy to support you buying your products in future.
I'm so happy to see another update to this synth. Mostly because it shows that Arturia really cares about it and not just the latest synth they are selling like some other big name companies. I did go ahead and purchase the minifreak and have been enjoying it very much. I hope that it will also be supported and updated too because I think it's also an awesome synth. BUT now i must put the big brother aside for the next few days and concentrate on getting re aquainted with my FIRST Freak. This looks like it is just what I needed to get back to this quirky fellow!! :) thank YOU Arturia and Lena for demonstrating it.
This is ssso cool! For months I've been looking at granular hardware synths on the cheap. Now I get granular AND samples on microFreak?! Fantastic! Thank You Arturia 🤗
I bought the Microfreak when it first came out and it was already a great innovative synth. With continued updates for the Microfreak! What a fantastic gift and it is for reasons like this that I'm a big supporter of Arturia. Thank you!❤
@@thegreat1548 - purchased within the first year of release and have applied all s/w updates as they arrived (which is easy to do btw). The build quality is excellent. I've never had any issues with the machine or software.

what's really crazy is that the first "new preset" sounds exactly like my Syntrx II. I will not ever sell the Syntrx II, but these examples make me want to buy one right now.
