The Blue Compass boom arms are notoriously bad. I unfortunately figured this out after buying one and it wouldn't stay still no matter what I did, so I had to return it. Got an Elgato Wave arm instead (not the low profile one) and it just works exactly as you want it. It even has an extra rod for added length which I found invaluable to my setup. Never gonna switch it out unless it somehow spontaneously combusts or I accidentally break it myself.
