He'd probably have a lot more power on his serve if he let his serve motion pull him into the court as opposed to where he lands his left foot. His forehand swing's exaggerated follow-through is also a bit unusual.

    • @vinny6_9

He didn't play as well as he could have and some of that was due to Nadia playing very consistent. But either way everyone saying he's a 4.0 is likely a 4.0 that thinks they could beat him. The girl is a D1 player without a lot of holes, and there's a fair amount of pressure on him. But come on guys 4.0. And more to my point, I’m not disparaging anyone, but to say can a 5.0 male beat a woman Div 1 player is a little misleading. There are so many levels inside D1, for instance this young woman you are playing is very good but has an 8.6 UTR whereas the no.1 from Stanford is an 11 UTR and wouldn’t drop anymore than a game against her. Shes a very good mid-level D1 player. Plus a 5.0 male can be anywhere from a 9.5 to 11.5 UTR… and Mark is an 8.2 UTR just for reference

Male player is over matched here a bit..been there, done that in the 80's, not that I was that great. My court presense was exactly like this guy and was draining and a distraction to me. Now I play Table Tennis at the club level with players half my age and am competitive cuz I'm quick and small for my age in a shortened Table Tennis court area at the club level, and play the Asian Reverse Penhold style grip. I play calm, stone faced, and never sweat a lost point, a relief from my Tennis personna days. Robert at 69.

It's actually a pretty decent backhand when he decides to swing out on it, but his lack of confidence forces him to slice more often than not. The advantage of his slice is that it buys time for him to return to center, but he'll hardly ever win points on it.

Female player had more 'professional' court composure and disipline, made the difference. Male player looked slightly clunkier, sloppier footwork, and all that 'heh-'yuh' & 'uhh' shots. He has tree trunk legs like Mark Edmondson from the 1970's. She could be low level pro's in my opinion right here. Robert at 69.

  • @wolpetto

The answer to the question is yes. In my opinion Mark played a really bad set tactically. The strategy to play with depth, play defense or try to overpower her are not smart. The biggest difference between men’s and women’s tennis is movement. Mark should have played more angles instead of trying to hit through her.
Another option would have been to play lots of topspin in order to push her back and then play some short balls.
