It's not unheard of for coaches to time off of an athlete's first step, not off of "go" or initial body movement (in the case the athlete is going on their own command). This is because athletes can step inconsitenly, stumble, or other have other irregularities rep to rep, timing off of the first step's contact reduces these inaccuracies. It makes training times marginally faster than an auto time or normal hand time, but if the athlete and coach are aware of this is can be accounted for. Off of his first step and stopping my timer when his torso is above the finishline, I averaged 31.82 seconds which might explain the fast time beyond just that is handtimed, tho idk how Kerley's team does their training timing.

A 9.76 & 43.64 combination implies his 200m PB should be in the 19.5s, near Dix, Gay, & Gatlin. Gatlin's 100m best is 0.02 better than Kerley's, & didn't run the 400, yet his 200 is 19.57 7th all-time, while Kerley's is not in the top 25. Hello there, I'm new to your channel. I love it! Is it Possible to actually show a whole race and not just clips? Or is there a UA-cam rule against that? You inspire me to watch racing but where do I go to watch races?
Someone should hold a sprint triathlon with the 100, 200 and 400 combined in one meet. There are plenty of athletes who could do it. Kerley, Van Niekerk, Michael Norman if he's healthy, etc. On the women's side, Shericka Jackson, Abby Steiner and Gabi Thomas would be competititive. Then each year they could up the distance for one event. Year two could be 200, 400 & 800, year three could be 400, 800, 1500 (Athing Mu!), and year four could be 800, 1500, 5000 (Faith Kipyegon has a 1:58 800m time and world records in the 1500 and 5000, while Sifan Hassan ran 1:56 800 a few years ago).
I just participated in such a meet 2 weeks ago, called it the King and Queen of Sprint. Great fun. Would love to see the worlds best athletes take on such a meet.
As a junior Usan Bolt started racing 400M SHOWs how important the strength that comes from that sort of training background for the 100m. Let's hope that Fred can go close too Usan Bolt's WR.
It actually fascinates me how terrible he is at 200m. For the fastest guy in the world, how he comes off the turn never in front and then for a 43.6 400m guy, cannot run people down, is really strange. On paper he should be thrashing Noah.
I wouldn't call him the fastest guy in the world this year there is a surprised Britain a Kenya which I honestly think can only run fast in Kenya im waiting until British trials to see if zharnal is the real deal as hit track record for false start makes me nervous every time I watch him then we have a Jamaican only just behind kerly in time this year
Okay you bring up such a valid point Fred Kerley is a monster in the 100m and 400m and always runs elite level times 100: 9.76 +1.4m/s 200: 19.76 +2.0m/s (AT ALTITUDE IN KENYA.. THIS MAN SHOULD'VE RAN LIKE 19.50) 400: 43.64 You're absolutely right, it boggles my mind. His 200m times are not trash at all, they're elite but it just seems pedestrian compared to what he can do in the 100m and 400m
yeah it's weird that a guy that can run 43.6 and 9.76 can't go sub 19.6 in the 200m. Maybe he's one of those guys that needs to focus on just one event to really become elite at it. Early on I remember he was the next big thing in the 4, then went down to focus on just the 100m really and became elite at that, maybe he needs to focus just on the 200m to really get his times down.
Bolt also started as a 400m runner. He ran the 100m for the first time a few months before the 2008 Beijing Games. In his second or third 100m race he broke the world record, went into the Olympics and broke it again in the final.
I had a conversation with Fred and I told hm to drop the 400m and go for the 100m since he wanted to be a star❗ He took my advice & I lost my phone with his number 🤣🤣🤣

By the looking at his records in the 100m, an unofficial 300m and 400m races, Fred Kerleys has the ability to go sub 19.6 s over the 200m. Noah Lyles and Erryon Knighton can get get a sub 19.6 seconds. *I think Fred Kerleys have the ability to go sub 19.6 seconds in the 200m race but this can only happen once in dozens of 200m races like what Lyles and Erryon did* Kerleys hasn't get it so he might get that moment in budapest 200m, in case he can pass the USTF championships. Whoever gets these moments, who can go sub 19.6 s will get gold in the 200m. Fred Kerleys is on the list along with Noah Lyles and Erryon Knighton.
Wayde van Niekerk has posted much better times than Fred. Fred might be slightly quicker over 100m and 200m but Wayde is the undisputed champion over 300m and 400m, with over 0.6 seconds on Fred.
Jacobs hasn't done much since because of injuries and Kerley has rain 3 9.7 races since then. He was silver in 2021 and Gold 2022. Clearly he's the best in the world right now.
@@tahjaonestly it's not that hard at the moment but zharnal surprise puts kerly as only 3rd fastest this year so I wouldn't call him the best I don't have much faith in the Kenya guy as he hasn't won since leaving Kenya but zharnal has won his races
Per performances thus far, there is no guarantee that Fred Kerly will win the 100m. He has not separated himself from the Jamaicans and the British runners. It will be an interesting showdown. Barring no injuries, Noah Lyles should win the 200m. However, that is subjected to how Degrasse of Canada is running. We haven't seen him all season.
I think Fred will run in the 9.7s again this year, but I'm not sure he will PB. I do think he'll PB in the 200 as his PB imo does not line up with his caliber. His 100m of 9.76 & his 400m of 43.64 imply that he should be capable of a sub 19.6 200m & be in the top 10 all-time, yet he has yet to break the top 25 all time in that event for whatever reason. I predict a low 19.6 this year for his 200m which I think should just barely get him onto the US team. Behind Lyles it's a real toss-up between Knighton, Bednarek, & Kerley.
Modern day social media hype forgets the fine athletes of the 50s and 60s ...Tommy Smith, dave sime running 200meters on a straight cinder track ...I doubt many of today's sprinter would come near 20 flat on cinder in 1960s spikes .. No comparison ..

Been saying this forever, an all-round sprints competition would be 🔥
I just participated in such a meet 2 weeks ago, called it the King and Queen of Sprint. Great fun. Would love to see the worlds best athletes take on such a meet.
Great idea
Every step this man takes covers close to 8ft on average! 32.00-32.5 in the 300m is real deal speed endurance! I could never get past 33.00.
I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself you’d be top 500 in the history of track at 33.00 haha
That's 41 strides in 100m which is the exact same as Usain Bolt (and he was known for his stride length.)
@CYMotorsport That's just practice hand time. Long time ago
Even running 33 (handtimed) seconds is insane so don't beat yourself up on that!
As a junior Usan Bolt started racing 400M SHOWs how important the strength that comes from that sort of training background for the 100m. Let's hope that Fred can go close too Usan Bolt's WR.
dude can do it all
It actually fascinates me how terrible he is at 200m. For the fastest guy in the world, how he comes off the turn never in front and then for a 43.6 400m guy, cannot run people down, is really strange. On paper he should be thrashing Noah.
To be fair he did run down Kenny this year in the 200m clocked a 19.92 SB. I look for him to improve on the turn and make his 200m more complete.
The curve bothers his ankle. It’s ones of the reasons why he transitioned to the 100
I wouldn't call him the fastest guy in the world this year there is a surprised Britain a Kenya which I honestly think can only run fast in Kenya im waiting until British trials to see if zharnal is the real deal as hit track record for false start makes me nervous every time I watch him then we have a Jamaican only just behind kerly in time this year
Okay you bring up such a valid point
Fred Kerley is a monster in the 100m and 400m and always runs elite level times
100: 9.76 +1.4m/s
200: 19.76 +2.0m/s (AT ALTITUDE IN KENYA.. THIS MAN SHOULD'VE RAN LIKE 19.50)
400: 43.64
You're absolutely right, it boggles my mind.
I love this kid. He seems so humble. I hope he kicks Lyles ass in the 200. Hes no Bolt but his strdes are powerful.
I had a conversation with Fred and I told hm to drop the 400m and go for the 100m since he wanted to be a star❗ He took my advice & I lost my phone with his number 🤣🤣🤣
Nice vid!
You literally couldn't have watched a 9min video that quickly to know if it's a nice vid!
@@AllInTheGame01 trust man

@@AllInTheGame01 u just dont know how to trust
You should do a weekly recap video during the track season. I come to your channel for a lot but it would be good to get a look at the top athlete in there event for the week
That's a really good idea. It's hard to squeeze in everything that happens in separate vids. Thanks for the recommendation
@@TotalRunningProductions Been watching you for years. It got me getting back into T&F again after a lot of years. Back into running again too. Thanks for all the content.
@@0celtay That's awesome dude. Keep it up! Would love to hear about your progress
Fred is PHENOMENAL! At the 2023 World Championships, I predict Fred will place 1st in 100, 2nd in 200, and top 3 if he runs 400.
Go Fred!!
He can do as he pleases because of his 400 meters abilities. 😊
Kerley All d Way. Keep Traing. Rem All d Transition. Gt 2 Baba. They d Key 2 Acing a Race.
Ain't finished until kerley say's, right fred
looking forward to see him race Noah Lyles in the 200 and 100 meters!
what what i want to see too who stronger n who has more endurance and topend speed
Fred NEEDS to go back to Phase42. Just Sayin' Noah is unbeatable. How many times has Noah gone under 19.75? LOL
By the looking at his records in the 100m, an unofficial 300m and 400m races, Fred Kerleys has the ability to go sub 19.6 s over the 200m.
Noah Lyles and Erryon Knighton can get get a sub 19.6 seconds.
*I think Fred Kerleys have the ability to go sub 19.6 seconds in the 200m race but this can only happen once in dozens of 200m races like what Lyles and Erryon did*
Kerleys hasn't get it so he might get that moment in budapest 200m, in case he can pass the USTF championships.
Whoever gets these moments, who can go sub 19.6 s will get gold in the 200m.
Fred Kerleys is on the list along with Noah Lyles and Erryon Knighton.
😮I thought it was impossible go be this shredded…
He would be on his way to a Hall Of Fame career in the NFL if he wasn’t competing in Track!
First❤️ love straight outta south Africa 🇿🇦
sorry you are actually second
Ye ye😭
Usain Bolt's performances are still the greatest
"this sprinter is kerley undefeated so far in 2023"
Wayde van Niekerk has posted much better times than Fred. Fred might be slightly quicker over 100m and 200m but Wayde is the undisputed champion over 300m and 400m, with over 0.6 seconds on Fred.
I’ve been dreaming of a USA 4x100 men’s relay in Paris of Coleman to Kerley to Knighton to Lyles.
He’s a future goat
He should try all three if they give him enough time to do them all. 🎉
Whatch out for lyles. Dont forget about knighton
Undisputed? Jacobs is the reigning Olympic champion.
Have to admit, I'm inpressed.
We haven't seen him all season.
why the clickbait thumbnail ? I dont get it
💪💪💪
WELL DONE!!!
Kindly give Usain Bolt his flowers
Usain Bolt's world records of 9.58 in the 100m and 19.19 in the 200m, both set in 2009, won't be touched anytime soon!
Agree with you BOLT THE GREATEST
Modern day social media hype forgets the fine athletes of the 50s and 60s ...Tommy Smith, dave sime running 200meters on a straight cinder track ...I doubt many of today's sprinter would come near 20 flat on cinder in 1960s spikes ..
No comparison ..
Fred Kerley greatest athlete alive rn
Can't be if he cannot beat bolt record usain bolt is the greatest.
🇯🇲
in general i like the videos and how theyre build up, props for that. But I'm pretty annoyed by the clickbait titles, which led to me watching several videos which I later regretted. Thus most of the time I'm used to ignore the videos by now as a result
who knows why he changed from the 400m (Wayde van Niekerk 400 m: 43.03 WR (2016))
Wayde "Vahn" Niekerk 😄
Here we go
#TotalRunningProductions Undisputed, greatest 100m Athlete in the world, Bro you are reaching
He hasn't even been running that fast in the 100 plus he's only been running against pretty slow runners this year so not really that impressed
@@DG-iu8ck correct, bro need to keep it real and stop over hype
Who's better?
19.60s in the 200🎉🎉🎉
What? What didn't they tell us? Weird title
Tebogo will rule them all
400M runners are always training for the 4 even thought they aren’t actively racing that distance.
Ivdo not fear the man that has learnt 10,000 techniques . but the man who has practiced 1 technique 10,000 times
Seems strange to me not to want the national championship title
I almost wanna say he should consider going back up to the 400 again. The 200 is just too stacked.
4:45 if all 4 race and kerley manages to finish 4th, would be still qualify? i'm assuming that lyles has a bye for his 200m gold medal
Yes he would still qualify since Noah is the current 200m world champ.
Just wait til he gets caught of doping
3:33 « May 2st »
Seems like he puts the least focus on the 400, and yet it might be the event he has the highest potential in.
where is Michael Norman?
Do you think it’s possible for him to even attempt the triple crown at a stage like the world championships or even the Olympics?
No. If you mean win gold in so three events but maybe if you mean get at least bronze. Even then though I don't like his odds as he is at best the 3rd fastest 200m sprinter in the US
No one can defeat Fred Curly Q. Except DeGrasse
Clean?
The most còmpetive sport--T&Fld numbers dont lie and they dont have bad outings like in other spports peeps makin mills$ cant mantain a decent shootin%tge.a runner comes 3rd in record time is his Bad day😂😅love T&F
Not me clicking the video thinking he actually ran 9.69💀
wowza
HOW FRED???? HOW???
CLICKBAIT HE DID NOT RUN 9.69🔴
My advice to fred is to focus on one area, 100m, 200m or 400m.
He has potential but with these distraction he will only be recognize as a good sprinter but not great sprinter
