I love me some breakout games but Alleyway is tough to go back to, it’s too bland for even me. Super Mario Land is still fun, the god tier music makes up for the weird physics
I could honestly listen to Mario Land 1 and 2's OSTs all day long
I know it was unlikely, but I feel Super Mario Galaxy was such a good opportunity to bring back Tatanga the Alien from the Super Mario Land games.

Launch roster videos for GBC and GBA would be great for me- GBA was the first portable Nintendo system I owned instead of borrow, so those first games (especially Castlevania) have a specisl place in my heart.
Anyway- it'd be Alleyway, Tetris and SML for me. Always been more of an adventure-game plsyer over sports, to the point where I'd take tried and true Breakout over a sports game. And tetris, well. It's Tetris.
Tetris is just outright iconic!

What still freaks me out with the otherwise excellent SML, is that the fall physics is different when you jump and when you walk off a ledge. When you jump, you kind of "float" as usual. But when you walk off a ledge, you get slammed downwards. No acceleration at all!
Or stupid high acceleration an top speed 😅 dunno

There's an excellent Super Mario Land port on the snes that added 2 player capability. If you like Mario Land, that is the definitive way to play it!
That sounds like a really cool port! Honestly, I've debated doing a Mario Land retrospective. Only hangup I've had is: Do I stop after the first Wario Land game?
A console's early games are great because they make it clear that developers have no idea how far they can go yet.
I love this video, my favorite video of yours is the megaman gameboy series retrospective so I'm gonna have to recommend/ask you do more gameboy series retrospectives or group a developer/producer together for a retrospective. Maybe gameboy castlevanias or mario-wario series. I know lists aren't a new idea but I'd watch you list your favorite game genres for different consoles if your into it. Just some ideas and I'm way into gameboy lately too so keep doing what's fun for you and I appreciate the videos!

I love seeing Game Boy content. For some reason it's a handheld I have a lot of interest in even if it's incredibly basic and doesn't really compare to Nintendo's handhelds. And with Super Mario Land, I've just completed it fairly recently via the Super Game Boy and, it's definitely not a common opinion, but I am pretty sure I enjoy it more than the original SMB1 and *maybe* Lost Levels too. It probably wouldn't be considered a better game but I still think it's a more interesting experience and because of its short length and the amount of 1UPs that get thrown your way, archaic design choices like limited continues are much less of a problem in Super Mario Land lmao
