I had the pleasure of being Bill's passenger for 6 laps at Lydden a few years ago at a track day in this car. It is the most thrilling experience I have ever had. He is a consummate driver and his skill in car preparation is second to none.
for all who say this is boring...you all got no clue..this is skill, understatement and entertainment!
I was in the Fastest Mini Race at Silverstone in 1994 with the Clive Trickey Race Mini ( KTR223E). Bill Sollis won with the KAD Mini. I qualified 11th and after a bad start, finished 13th out of I believe 24-26 Minis. Yeah, I know, excuses, excuses. Lots of fun and still have the Trickey Mini. That was trippy, when the car on the right, was behind the car on the left and you had a drivers view from the car on the left being overtaken by the car on the right, then you could see the battle for second from the car on the left and right.......fantastic.
I remember my old school mate who was mini crazy!! Daniel Carey used to do all the London to Brighton runs. I still remember his reved up project car VBY 102X think his mini was last on the road 2002.

In car cameras make the racing boring, you can`t see what`s going on.

My 848 cc standard Mini with wooden pistons would beat the lot!
In fact, about 1969 I fitted my Mini with a 1098 cc engine, had a 12G295 head and a 1.5" SU HS4 reverse. put a 3.44 diff in. Made a very nice road car, economical too.
1098cc doesn't deserve their bad reps. They just are not suitable for above 6500 RPM use, but they are respectable as road engines.
@i. rob I never had Clive Trickey's book, but saw extracts from it. Still have the Mini, a 1962, has a standard 1275 in it now, I had more fun with the 1098, that engine is still fine, it's in the garage.
@i. rob Early next year I'm 70, I also have a 1969 Riley Elf Automatic too, and a 1969 Mini 1000, engine upgraded by fitting 12G295 head, AEA630 cam, Duplex timing gears and 1.5" SU.
@i. rob Not addicted, just never grew up! coincidence, I had a 1964 Minivan (B reg) before 1962 Mini. The Minivan was grey, repainted it tangerine! I was good at balljoints too, one had to be with Minis. I also have most of the tools, still have a Hydrolastic pump etc. In the late 60's to some time in the 70's, I worked for Janspeed. Daily car is a 1989 volvo 340 (not the CVT one). Radford name is after my fav Hi Fi amplifier, Radford STA25 III. Doing the back garden yesterday, my glasses fell off, nearly trimmed them with the electric hedge trimmer. This was after using the chainsaw!
@i. rob Brush painted mine in my Dad's drive, Woolworth's gloss tangerine, came out well. Sols it at night under sodium street light, had to tell buyer that it was tangerine, he was OK with that. Later re-painted the 1962 Mini Almond Green, Old English White roof, in Dad's drive using a Burgess Airless Sprayer.
